Korean BBQ is meant to be a meal enjoyed with friends and/or family. I loved that the final shot was with your whole team enjoying the food!
YES I WAS GONNA SAY THAT in my opinion you just eating meat by yourself the real experience is when you lay out the newspaper and everyone is around the meat talking and eating🥰🥰
Isn't all Korean food technically meant to be eaten with family or friends since Koreans are socially conditioned to never eat alone? I've seen evidence of this.
@@MarkDeSade100 ye its what made mukbang and then the americans jeopardize it
@@actualgarbage8549 *appropriated it lol
BBQ is fun after all.
But I have a doubt isn't soy sauce unhealthy buy people in korea and Japan consumes it on a daily basis on every dish and in their most healthy dishes also there is soy sauce but isn't soy sauce super unhealthy then how come it is used in their healthy dishes also. And lastly they eat it raw also isn't it more super dangerous ? I am really curious about it can someone please explain it to me?
I found a large electric griddle of sorts from H-Mart which is an Asian grocery store chain. Relatively cheap. We have two of them now and we've done several nights hosting friends and family and doing Korean BBQ at home. Thankfully the store also sells tons of Korean BBQ cuts already marinated or just raw and ready to go. It's really fun for a get together or pot luck game night that we do all the time.
sounds fun can I come
How much was the electric griddle?
@@Neoxon619 $40 which I thought was a good deal. It's non stick and the cooking surface lifts off easily to clean in the sink or dishwasher.
@@jokerproduction That's a stellar deal imo
@@jokerproduction Not bad, actually
As a Korean, your recipe looks yummy. Many Korean like marinated meat on a grill but when we think of Korean BBQ, it's normally fresh meat without marinated and enjoy with various kind of fresh vegetable and condiments. The point of Korean bbq is grilling on top of a dining table so that we can have hot piping grilled meat in our mouth.
also the sweet marinate used tends to stick and burn in the grill so its better to use unmarinated meats.
That's why chadolbaegi is perfect for the grill, unmarinated and thinly cut so it cooks fast. I just pull it off the grill straight to a perilla with rice and samjang
yes I was confused why he was using marinated meat haha
6:12 eughh
Lolol I was going to make this post too. But I think American cuts of meat aren’t as good as Korean ones so they have to marinade it lol this makes me want some dwenjangjjiggae though 😂
Can I say my favorite parts of these videos are when the whole crew comes in at the end to eat? You can tell they all work so hard to make quality content and videos and it's just super cool to see them coming together to talk and enjoy a meal together, so wholesome!💕
Work so hard??? They make fucking food videos.
Josh in every video be like: This is one of the best dishes of all time
Theory, every episode is but better because Josh keeps getting cooking gains. Therefore, papà has a better eating experience every time.
We love a papa whose always growing
Get out of my head! Exactly what I was thinking watching the intro- hyperbole in overdrive.
right!! haha
Sadly he can afford these kinda of meals I can't and I'm a cook
Gotta work on your MLA formating
You should do a sauce episode. Would love to see the different versatile sauces that can be used for different cuisines etc.

Going through a joshua video about sauces will take you about 10 liters of gochujang.
for all pun aficionados: The bap at 2:41 is hilariously chosen because bap in Korean means rice (as in bibimbap or kimbap etc.) - loved it.
My family runs a korean food store, so i often get to eat like this, and i tell you, you will never get tired of this food, theres just so much flavor you can try.
You nailed it Josh!👍 but I think we need more green onion😂
I love your channel!!
As Korean-Canadian myself, I approve this comment. Also we need un-marinated garlics and mushrooms grilled on the side too
Pajeori is a must
Also needs more banchan and soju
“More green onion, more delicious”
Love to see how the team share the whole table of food after filming.
KBBQ isn't just about delicious food, it's about sharing it with family and close friends. I think it's part of the reason why it's become so popular is because cooking for each other and sharing the meal creates a very strong bond between everyone involved.
@@zqfmgb123 That's the answer. / 정답입니다.
@@zqfmgb123 it's about food no ? it's about food generally doesn't matter if it's kbbq or something else.
The team eating at the end was awesome. Great to see your channel growing and the team along with it. Great job everyone.
It's so exciting to see content creators like you who put in extra effort into recipe research, then putting in your finishing touches instead of just slapping things together. Your instructions are easy to follow along/streamlined while including every ingredient that would otherwise be missed if it wasn't there. Your pronunciation wasn't too bad either, except for doenjang, which is understandable because of the confusing Romanization (it's closer to dwen-jang, like d+when).
It would be cool to see your take on goon mandu, the Korean take on Chinese fried pork/leek dumplings. (Featured in the original Oldboy film)
It's really exciting to see people from around the world making stuff from my home country. Thank you Joshua!
Oh my God the screem when that piece of cucumber fell into the sink is a work of art 🤣👌🏻
This layout looks delicious but is definitely in need of korean pickled radishes. Crunchy bursts of sour/sweet goodness that really add to the experience.
Outside of the short rib, this is my favorite part of the meal. Those radishes are so good.
The Korean radishes as in 쌈무 or 담무지?

@@ascotter They are called Daikon radish around my area. You want to try and buy a real firm one. Super easy to pickle, lots of recipes online!
the footage of the crew hanging out and chowing down at the end was incredibly wholesome, and i need more of it
Love seeing your crew enjoying the food my all time favorite part of the video just shows they love working with you
Important note about the bulgogi marinade is that the Asian pear is used because it has a natural tenderizing enzyme. If you can't find Asian pear (I never have), you can use different fruit. I use kiwi but it has more of the tenderizer enzyme so use it sparingly or don't leave the meat in the marinade for too long.
I'm sorry you have never had Asian pear. It is magical
Good point! I also recommend raw green papaya, as it has very little taste and also contains the tenderising enzymes :)
u can also use grated onions since it also has natural enzymes that tenderizes meat
Apple and regular pear work great as well
Korean here. usely it's one of: pear/kiwi/pineapple/apple
I prefer pear cuz I love it's scent, but it's only subtle difference, others do as much so don't sweat too hard getting asian pear
The last shot of everybody crowding around the grill and having a good time eating is truly what Korean BBQ is all about.
I love the group shot of everyone sharing at the end - that's what these types of meals are all about!
You guys are so adorable. Honestly. I love seeing them all gathered around to eat. ☺️☺️☺️
The cucumber at 4:03 is perfect. The little details and SFX that go into these videos is amazing. Made me laugh hysterically.
Lol I said the same thing before even seeing this comment

i think it’s a slightly diff version of cucumber kimchi
He really made the cucumber sound like he was falling to his death lmao

As a Korean, this man really nailed how to make a Korean dishes.
I saw this guy made a Korean fried chicken and it was perfect and this one too
4:04 has had me laughing all week. You're a wonderful entertainer Josh! I recommend your channel to all my friends whether they cook or not because you're so fun to watch.
I've done bulgogi at home (both with ribeye and a super fast cheat with mince for a 20 weeknight meal) but this is such an awesome idea. I'm considering getting the table grill for party hosting now. Great video, as always.
As someone who lives in Seoul... I can tell you that you missed some of the key side dishes that are generally used in KBBQ here. Raw garlic thinly sliced to eat however you please, maybe wrapped up in lettuce with meat. WHOLE Cheongyang chili peppers (green peppers) on the side that you consume raw, for a kick of spice. Whole mushrooms to throw on the grill are common. Never ever seen potatoes served here either but looks yum.
Other than that... thumbs up. Sauces look Noice. Josh can you do Dak-galbi? Seriously one of the best ways to eat chicken hands down.
Great video also some friendly tips from your resident half Korean viewer. I would advise to make pa juri as a delicious and easy side side but you can also flex your chef skills with the prep. Also gamja in Korean is potato so by saying gamja potato... You get it. Great stuff. Definitely recommend Korea BBQ to bond family friends and enemies alike. ;) Keep up the great content josh
Hi Jesse, I think Cheongyang gochu is probably too spicy for most.
Do you agree that mushrooms should have their stalks removed and cooked upside down until mushroom water forms in the little crater where the stalk was and that water is then poured into a shot of soju.
As you probably know, rumor has it that adding this mushroom water into your soju reduces hangovers.
Though in Korea, it’s pretty standard to literally go get an IV to recover from an excessive session the night before.
Chicken Galbi is spicy and super delicious! I totally agree, I think one of the chains should bring out a Dakgalbi burger just like ubiquitous Bulgogi burgers.
Green peppers, yes. Cheongyang peppers are a bit too much for most people.
What made me sad was how Josh didn't make even one ssam. It has to be eaten in one mouthful versus taking several bites. :(
@@benjaminlinssen5569 I wholeheartedly second pajuri!!! Need that extra green to bring another whole level of freshness
Thanks for the vid Josh. I had been trying to come up with some different ideas for when my wife and I have friends over for dinner, and this is definitely what we are doing next time. Love the content you put out. Keep up the great work.
The editing on this is amazing! I've never enjoyed watching cooking tutorials so much before. You got a sub!
Your timing is immaculate!
I've been craving it so much these past few days
I have too and now this video does not help anything at all! I’m going to order the grill he has and that gives me a bit of time to find all the Korean ingredients cause I’m not in an Asian dense area and don’t think there are any Korean specific grocery stores in my area that I can get too without a couple hour drive but to be honest with ya, if I can get mine to turn out as good as what his looks, then I will happily walk for two weeks each way to get the ingredients!!
Those potatoes!!!! OMG those Potatoes!! I’m a potato guy to begin with but OMG Dude, those potatoes are on a completely different level than any of us dumba$$ white boys from the United States could ever possibly dream up!! Those potatoes can’t even be outdone by Gordon Ramsay himself and I bet he is actually trying to replicate them this afternoon in one of his tiny little kitchens tucked away behind the Taco Bell dumpsters at the end of the alley! 😎
This is the best looking food I’ve seen in years I think!! Can you just imagine the smell while your grilling that meat, between the smokiness of the fat dripping and burning off and the sweetness of the marinades heating up……… it’s got to be like you’ve arrived just outside of heaven’s gates and our Lord Jesus is inside having a Korean BBQ for himself and his closest Angels!!
I just can not wait to try this and wish there was somewhere I could get something similar to ease my cravings till I can make it just like Joshua did!
Growing up 1st gen korean American love this stuff. I love the classic unmarinated pork belly and brisket (삼겹살 and 차돌 for the korean brothers and sisters out there hahaha) looks amazing and i applaud you sir. Thank you for sharing real kbbq! Btw loving the cook book!
The team eating together at the end, so wholesome. Loved the episode!
Super authentic! Everything looks so yum!
You are the man Joshua! Love this CZcams page/site ..
Just love the content and your personality..Crack me up often, yet teach us all amazing ways to chef it up.. Congratulations on all your success, you definitely deserve it..Alot of folks don't realize what it takes to put this stuff out there and on the old WEB!!.
Yay! This is one of the best videos ever! I love the little side dishes at Korean BBQ. Especially those little potatoes! (I think they are called gamja jorim.) I been searching for the best way to make these, since my husband absolutely loves them. Thanks Josh!
Always wanted to try Korean BBQ. Definitely gonna try some of these recipes!
Woke up this morning with no plans for dinner. Watched this video and now I've got everything marinading for a Korean BBQ feast.
This was very amusing to watch with Josh's reaction and that godly scream with the falling cucumber. I will say that the best korean grills are from H-Mart, but the one he has is perfectly good. It was interesting to see him using honey, typically you don't use honey much in Korean dishes but it looks good. However he forgot the raw onions, peppers, and garlic that your supost to have as well.
Watching this during ramadan feels bad🥲but DAMN this looks I N C R E D I B L E 🤤
I love that you explain what certain exotic ingredients are and how they are made - every video i learn something new :)
Keep rocking mate!
OMG this looks amazing thank you so much i’ve been dying to learn how they do this
Very authentic recipe indeed. Although, any Korean's doing grills like this will grill garlics and mushrooms too - grilled garlic inside a lettuce-meat wrap like that gives a nice kick in taste :)
How tf u korean and uan tell him hes missing kimchi… congnam muul…. She ggum chee…. BUT FORGETTING KIMCHI?!!?

I would really like a video about the essentials everyone needs in their kitchen- this would cover the needed utensils and spices as well as anything extra that is used consistently. Thank you!
The last bit of everyone enjoying was so wholesome.
This is great! I usually like to cook I marinated meats first and then the marinated ones. Also, you would’ve gotten bonus points if you cooked kimchi, garlic, and peppers in the rendered fat from the pork belly. Great job!
i love that josh calls the potatoes "gamja potatoes". that's just potato potatoes lmao. (kind of like when people say chai tea XD). that said, this looked pretty great. i feel like korean people usually do non-marinated meats at home for kbbq more commonly (and just in general, in korea, it's less marinated meat and more non-marinated meat), but this made me crave it something fierce. guess i know what i'm going to prep this weekend lol
Josh is having a moment and im here for it. He was hype. Def gonna try as I love Korean BBQ.
ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AMAZING!!! I LOVE your layout. Thank you so much for this amazingly detailed recipe. I’ll definitely be making this soon for my boyfriend ✨
I just can’t get over how Josh named the potato dish Gamja Potato… literally saying potato potato lmao
You cooked better than Korean

You guys make me so happy, especially that final scene 🤣 just bought the cookbook too!! Super excited
I liked that final little clip of you all enjoying the experience. I had hoped you'd put that clip in there
Been low key waiting for this. Thanks Josh. Now, I don't have to spend 30€ on Korean BBQ buffet excluding freaking drink! 😆
These meats aren’t cheap you’re definitely still going to be spending that😂
This looks absolutely amazing! Love Korean bbq 😍
Laughter is good for our health, Joshua, you're keeping me healthy☺ thank you for a great video!
Awesome video!!! Thank you!
As a Korean I approve this.
Side tip. Korean BBQ usually consists of raw meat that’s not marinated as well. You cook the none marinated first and eat it. Then you cook the marinated to prevent burning since the marinade will burn if you have it on the grill too long. In Korea we ask the server to change the grill several times during the course of the meal :)
As a one of Korean cook, it is a perfect Korean bbq
Ok
I love your account name 👌

Thank you so much for this video right after your lemon pepper wings video as my fiancé and I watched both and decided that our chicken thighs for dinner should have the lemon pepper saucy glaze and our baby potatoes should have the Korean sauce, both are delicious and we appreciate your guidence ❤️
Continuing on the BBQ theme, what about showing how to make Brazilian Barbecue?
I live in Suwon, a little south of Seoul. For real, it just feels to make that despite all the banchan you typically get and the marinades for *some* of the meats the beauty of Korean BBQ is simplicity. The nori and that iceberg? lettuce isn't something I often see but, nothing out of the question either. I really like having doenjang on the table alongside gochujang as condiments. Often time, I find multiple shades of lettuce and fresh whole perilla leaves. I'm also pretty big on Hanwoo, Korean beef. I know it'll never get the attention that Wagyu does but, it is delicious. I also really like going to bbq here that has lamb.
That grill is perfectly fine and you could certainly buy one at local stores here. Still, actively avoid any bbq joint that uses anything like it. I always look for places using coals and ideally conical grills where the rendering fat drips down into onions and garlic cloves I like to put at the bottom.
There was nothing wrong at all in this video, just know there is significant variety in BBQ in Korea.
Suwon King galbi is the shit
Love this episode!
In the end all that matters is that u share the home made goodness wth fellow loved ones.👍😊
You were missing the kimchi!! That is essential! But great job anyways, looks delicious 🤤

Hey Josh, love the work you do. Would be epic if you made a recipe of Mapo Tofu
This is my first time watching your video and I love it. You make it so much fun to watch. Thank u. I'm definitely going to try this.
One thing that i really love about your content is that you calling out it’s exact name rather than calling as its “english understandable language”. Often people say 된장 (doenjang) as “korean miso” which kinda annoys me and also like “soy marinated korean style beef”. But the fact that you trying to say the proper word really means alot. THANK YOUU
Josh, I have come to the conclusion that if I want some form of food at home you will literally come out with a video within the next 12-24 hours of my cravings. At first I thought this ironic, then I had a feeling, now I have drawn a conclusion that if this has been accomplished multiple times its clearly scientifically proven.
Anyways XD
Great video, love your content, keep doing!
Wow that marinade is scandalous! All that finely picked ingredients seems to turn out like a bombastic and rich combination🤤 that is what I call a must try! And the baby potatoes are my favourite, they're so cute just to watch them, like the babies of a regular and big potato mama 😂 and they are many times more tender and tasty when cooked, and what to say when it comes to your recipe...Hats down, Josh!
Amazing work Josh
this isshhh looks super dope...perfect campfire food too!
As a Korean I’m gonna say he did a good job but I’m laughing at the “gamja potato” because “gamja” means potato in Korean, so idk if he was trying to say “ganjang” because that is soy sauce and it looks like that’s what he made. Just my hearing though I honestly don’t know what he said.
Yeah, there’s some odd things in there but he did a great job overall. I just buy 반찬 for the most part anyway. lol

That looks absolutely delicious.

Ok
Korean BBQ has to be one of the most wholesome and flavorsome dining experiences. Very affordable as well, especially the all you can eat ones in Sydney.
Yes!!!! This is awesome!!!
You don't have to say "gamja potato" because you're just saying potato potato.
Thanks for sharing Korean culture with the youtube community however a few things I want to say as a Korean person.
1. Marinated meats look good.
2. Chili crisp is something never found in korean food. Instead of the chili crisp when making the marinated cucumbers, gochugaru (chilli flakes), minced garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil is the authentic way.
3. Sesame garlic sauce is something i've never seen in my life. This dipping sauce is supposed to be just sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.
4. Samjang and the sesame oil sauce are only eaten with meats that are not marinated, such as pork belly and beef brisket. If you dip marinated meats in these sauces it will be too overpowering.
5. Traditionally lemons are never used in korean food because they are not native to Korea. You can add rice wine vinegar instead for acid. However, I think adding lemon juice will taste good it is just not authentic.
Overall, good video introducing Korean culture thanks Joshua.
I do this at home all the time and is for sure one of the best ways to have food with friends or family.
