As someone who works as a medical lab tech and regularly runs tests on kits like these, y'all were right, there needs to be an additional liquid to make the fluid (blood, saliva) run up the test paper. However you'd may be surprised to know that other tests like malaria and mononucleosis rapid tests look almost exactly like over the counter pregnancy tests.

This just really makes me interested in the way Australians do COVID tests.
In Germany these (the expensive ones) are the most common ones. Stick it in your nose, stick it in the tube with fluid, mix and drip some on the test. The spit tests are fairly rare.
Those were the same kind, but this video was filmed before auto tests were a thing available for everyone, therefore they didn't knew how to properly use it ^^

The stuff you rubbed between youre fingertips might have a trace of white Phosphorus, so better wash your hands before you eat. For anyone who wants to know the exact reason why this is so dangerous: The red
Phosphorus that you brunt up will react to form P4 (The White Phosphorus) this powder is extremely Flamable (when you rubb it between you’re fingertips it starts to burn which givs of smoke) this reaction can ignite spontaneously at 50 degrees but it can get as hot as 1300 degrees. Also it‘s extremely toxic, if you get to much (for an avrage the LD-50 dose is around 50mg oral) into youre system you could die in 5-10 days after performing such party trick. Sorry for my spelling (German)
