      Thanks that was never my intention because I always wanted to be able to turn them on when idiots behind me have their highbeams on and to load my trailer at night also don’t need them coming on during the day but I did get some really sick smaller ones for my new truck that should be pretty cool

      I moved from Baltimore to the eastern shore where it is DARK. I need to try this on my Colorado. I only need to brighten up reverse so I can use the camera. It’s not expensive so worth a try

    If I don't want a switch do I run the white wire directly to the power on the rear reverse light?

      I don’t know you’ll have to figure that out I didn’t want them to come on every time I enter reverse no need for them to be on in the daylight and I like the idea of loading at night without having to put it in reverse and turning them on when assholes with their highbeams are on behind you

    Nice job. I would think all different kind of saw to cut. But I see u use the jigsaw was so cool. Wondering if I can run direct to reverse light since I use the 18w light

      You could but to me that is stupid because You don’t need the lights to come on in the daytime you won’t be able to turn them on to load a trailer or some thing well your vehicle is in park and you won’t be able to turn them on when some asshole has their highbeams on behind you I just don’t think that it’s worth hugging directly to the reverse lights

    Couldn't you have just tapped into the reverse lights that are already there to avoid having a manual switch?
    Just curious.

      In my opinion that is stupid because for me I load up a trailer at night from time to time so it’s much better to just flick the switch on or if some asshole behind you as their highbeams on you can’t just throw it in Reverse also I don’t want it to come on in the daytime when I try to back up so for me the switch is the best bet

      @@redneckengineering7739 I kind of like using the switch. I mean if you just wanted B/U lights- yeah then just tap in the Reverse lights and be done with it. you still might have to run a relay... someone correct me if i am wrong about that.

      @@redneckengineering7739 I think the lights coming on for a few seconds during daytime would be a much smaller issue with the law compared to switching them on intentionally AT NIGHT for punishing/blinding someone on purpose.... and the driver reporting/recording you (even if he's also guilty of tailgating / having brights on)

    I wired mine today I, tapped into the back of my trailer hitch plug, i wired the my red wire to the middle wire of the hitch which is the reverse lights, and I wired the black ground wires to the white wire which is a ground wire, I wired them direct so when I put it on reverse they turn on along with my tail lights. So easy. Unless you want a toggle Wich I didn't want to.

      I don’t understand why people keep saying they want it on the reverse lights if you need to load the trailer in the dark what are you gonna do put it in reverse and get out? And what about tailgaters with your highbeams on? To me it Makes way more sense to have it on the switch also there’s no need for them to come on during the day when you’re backing up

      If you keep it in reverse, you put your emergency Breaks on Duh! Lol plus I don't plan on loading anything or pulling a trailer.

      Yeah I definitely wouldn’t recommend the emergency brake but I guess you could turn the motor off I just don’t want the lights coming on during the day and It is very useful when assholes has their brights on behind you when it’s on a switch

    Aren’t rearward facing lights supposed to be covered? New Jersey will definitely fuck you over for having them because they say the reflection from drivers behind you blinds them.

    I'm about to do this on my 05 tahoe I'm having trouble figuring out where to actually get the wires into the truck at? I'm also gonna pull power for a 6 gain switch bank to control all my lights from also. Is there room where you went into the cab to get 2 10 gauge wires and one more all together or will I have to pop a whole in the firewall?

      I mean if you know tools at all it should be pretty obvious if you watch the video but it’s a jigsaw with a metal blade simple and a drill bit

      Yeah it was way easier the blades popped out a couple times but it's not really the best jigsaw ever made either

    Why wouldn't you just wire them into your reverse light wire, they'll kick on when putting in reverse

      Because I don’t want them to come on every time I go in reverse there is absolutely no need for them to be on the daytime and I load trailers in the dark often what do you want me to do throw it in reverse while I’m trying to load the trailer? It doesn’t make much sense to come on every time in reverse but the main reason for me was to be able to turn it on when assholes are behind me with their highbeams on

    You should install the circuit board made for those GMs that allow high low and fog to be on when you have the high beam switch activated.

      I found a little grommet somewhere and poked a hole in itthat is the worst part about running lights and stuff trying to get the wire into the cab for the switches

      Yeah i can but i wouldn't really recommend that just for the fact that you don't want them coming on during the day and if you have them on a switch you can use them to light up your trailer or something or just turn all the lights on in a field or you can turn them on when some dumb-ass has their high beams on behind you that's why I did a switch although it is possible to do both I'm sure

      Compare to your stock reverse light i think led light has lower amp. Tapping it there might burn a fuse or burn the wire.

      Yes don’t worry it in directly Or you will cause problems potentially but what you would do is use the wires running to the reverse lamp to trigger a relay and that would be sufficient

      I mean yes you could but why would you want them coming on in the daylight for one and two if you’re loading up some thing like a trailer you don’t want to have to put your truck in reverse just to be able to see to load it they are better used off of the switch and then if some dickhead behind you has his highbeams on you can hit the button or you could have it come on from the reverse lights or a switch at the same time

    Can you link the lights up so when you put it in reverse they turn on and off when you put it back in drive then use the switch when ever you want say someone behind you running there high beams I can blind them lmao

      Yes you can but to me that is useless there is no need for them to come on in the daylight so it’s unnecessary wear on cheap lights unless you buy expensive ones also it is much simpler to do a switch then hook it to the reverse lights

      +Connor Linnenbrink first of all because it's my truck second I don't want it to come on every time I go in reverse I don't need that also if I were going to do that I wouldn't run the trigger wire all the way to the trailer harness I do it up at the front because it comes from the relay that's mounted at the front no need for extra wires running across the truck

      +Connor Linnenbrink the wires start from the front with a relay coming from the power and the ground so if you just ran it to the signal under the dash then you wouldn't have to run the signal wire all the way to the back for no reason

      +Connor Linnenbrink because I would have to lengthen the trigger wire to go back there the relay is at the front of the truck at the battery like I said already so it goes from the fuse block into the cab to a switch I already had their that comes from the fuse panel in the side door so I had a lot of extra wire left over I trimmed off instead of adding wire to reach all the way to the bumper if the relay was at the bumper and the battery was at the bumper then it would be shorter but it's not

    Relay is pointless lol. Power to your switch with a in line fuse than from ur switch to your lights and a straight negative wire from ur battery to ur lights.. u have light lol. No relay needed

      Yeah you're an idiot regular switches on designed for any load you'll end up melting the switch if you run them long it would probably be okay 4 short use but why not just do things right the first time and you can wire up your truck however the fuck you want lol
