Potato: The Balor is so OP. He does all these things (recites numerous OP powers)
Also Potato: never shows the Balor fighting, then lets it die in an autoresolve
First time I had that special balor from the chaos tree, some undead killed it with an unresistable spell. I later found out it would come back after 2 turns with insanity, but I won the battle before it ressed, assuming it was perma dead. And I felt cheated out of 500 imperium.

@@kimdg3429 here is a op strategy for you when you have a ton of mana. Run at a enemy with a stack of a single scout, cast sleep of oblivion on a tier V or IV , and press surrender, the fight will end before it res

Names the fucking episode after it to boot. Like last series, got all the cool endgame shit and proceeded to show us none of it by auto resolving everything. Dude can't see the forest because all those trees are in the way.

In my recent game i got the Vine spell and Keepers Mark(order enchantment) that gives all unit steadfast apperntly that worked on the living vines as well making them survive a hit always!!!
Good God... my Feudal wolf riders can get more broken? Yes, plz.
What's even better is the vines count as fighter units, so if you get the Intimidating Aura enchantment in addition to Steadfast, their units will sometimes rout before you even have to fight them. Add the upgrade that gives you casting points when units die, and you can spam the spell every turn to just keep making vines.

Yep, its a 60 mana spell that turns a 16 per tile mountain into 8 tile per movement rocks.

everyone seems to think industrial is the weakest faction, ive been playing around with prospecting and i think its super slept on u can print ur hero a full set of items in the first 15 turns through prospecting, the faction lacks dps early but rerolling ur heros skills and building him around good items makes up for their lack of damage, prospecting also gives tons of gold and production early game and helps u get a snowball going sooner, its no barb skirmisher rush but i think with the right game plan it can be competitive with other factions. Would love to see you give it a shot potato. Loving the age of wonders content btw !
I decided to try industrial on the 2nd story mission (the one where your units go berserk in fights, and you've gotta do side quests to defeat the other players). I got lucky, because for some reason that map's edges are covered in mountains, and the map is also huge. I'm at turn 80, I've had about 5 scouts prospecting every turn for most of the game and there are still some left. I have a few thousand spare currency for item making and all 6 of my heroes have full items, with a bunch of the slots being tier 4 crafted. It's pretty cool lol.

What is a Demon Lord of Chaos before a SLEEP OF OBLIVION spell? Nothing, just nothing... The most OVERPOWERED spell in the game you don't even talk about.
You can engage a enemy with a single scout, cast it on high value unit, press surrender, op kamikaze strat, I call it scouts of oblivion

Okay, the build is strong, but I think the drop in power is noticeable in the late game. Still very strong, but not the stomp it was at the start at least. Maybe you needed a better transition on your units. I think they caught you during that unit transition for some of the battles.
I think that is by design. Barbarian culture and chaos tomes have a bit of a gap in unit quality because they are meant to rush down and outnumber opponents. Leaning a little into growth around the mid game can do a lot to cover that weakness. Entwined Protector in particular is an impressive defender, able to provide healing to your other units. Aspect of the Vine also greatly improves the quality of all your units with a built in self-heal. By late game I think you want to transition into army comp with at least two tier 3 units anchoring your units, ideally a tank and a support as your best units are ranged at that point. Tier 1 units do have a place in the late game, but I think you really need a numbers advantage.

It's also because he's not actually fighting the battles and taking unit chip damage, whittling his armies down. Also not replacing them gradually enough with higher tiered units
It seems like his sunderers are still trading pretty well unless I’m mistaken. It seems like the issue potato is facing now is not so much his army composition, but more so fighting in many places simultaneously, and maybe inefficient empire growth with the raze/found/vassalize cycle
He's like a StarCraft player that keeps spamming zerglings and nothing else XD

Giving that you got me addicted to this game I agree that the AI is a little too buff oriented. I have seen AI let units die because they decided to retreat a poisoned unit instead of healing it. They also won’t hunt kills which is obviously the whole point of battle. They don’t know how to turtle up and wait but as we can see here at 22:50 they know how to blob.
It’s an okay AI.
If you have a scout or other small force that gets caught out you can manually play the battle and run them to the back and retreat them. There's a chance they survive and will reappear at one of your cities in a few turns. You can also cast spells for a few turns while the enemy crosses the field, I've managed to pick off a unit or 2 while safely extracting my scout this way.

Got AoW4 last week, lots of fun.
Could you do a few "shorter" videos on some fun builds AND/OR a few of your favorite Tome Combinations?
I enjoy the full plays but it is a lot to take in and keep in mind for my own games. I am having a hard time understanding how some units/spell/effects interact.
Like I watched your Abyssal play, and the end build was great, but you know, a shorter synopsis of some other builds would be nice.
I currently have a Elven race with strong nature/Fey mist going on, but i feel my animal units could be better, maybe with the evolve mechanic...
Or another example, a NPC faction of enchanted / lightning / chaos wrecked me so hard i had to go back 2 or 3 turns to recover...

How do you get demons in your army?
Build a demon's gate and recruit them or summon them with spells. There's some other random ways too, I think, like the nature thing that gives you animals when you place a pop and sometimes gives nightmares.
Yeah Balors are like, WAAAAAAAY too good. Having one or two just auto wins you the game.

@@Nota-Skaven yeah but it feels like as soon as you get it the game is over. The only thing it can’t beat is the player save scumming.
Fan the Inferno is so bad, tome of the crucible has the same thing, that deals 15 more damage, grants slow, and costs less.
Adding burning to a 2-hex radius is very powerful when all of your units are enchanted to do +20% bonus damage against burning targets.

spamming vine prison is so cheesy !! do people actually enjoy playing that spell outside of brutal difficulty (where it is necessary)
