I don't know a lot about cars, but I do know audio. Set the low pass back at 100hz and just turn the input down. 35 to 100hz is subwoofer range.(I'm actually surprised that anything was coming out of that tiny sub with the low pass set at 35hz. Big double 18" concert PA subs don't go much lower than that.) If that head unit has the ability, set a high pass at 100hz for the door speakers. That way the door and the sub aren't both pumping out the same frequencies. Much cleaner sound that way. Love your channel. Keep up the excellent work.

The TT was how I found this channel! I was like oh oh audi! I never thought someone would go to the depths, I do for cars! Kertoppel tot! haha! The light burning of oil is probably from sitting not started for a while. The oil rings at the bottom of the stack haven't been seated against the cylinder wall for a while... Or Valve guide seals. :| It should go away after warming up.. I wonder if they make a lightened solid flywheel? I know they do for the 1.8ts

For the radio wiring I would have purchased Metra Reverse Harness Part # 71-1761. That would be the factory style connector coming out of the dash. You could have then soldered that into the factory wiring. So when you installed a radio you would buy Metra Harness Part # 70-1761, that you would wire to the new stereo's harness so it just plugs into the factory wiring.

The Car Wizard has videos about decarbonizing the valves. Also, the variable runner intake manifold has these doors inside of it that get sticky with carbon buildup. So the cylinder head and intake manifold may be the issue with the burning oil .

If you go more than 80%(some car are differents in that percentage) on the throttle it cut the injector to unflood the engine some will even firing to help, some don't. You can pump it but just dont go to the floor if you want to start, but you can use this feature to prime the engine oil too, got some help with a booster or charge the battery before. I did that on an early 90's car, it had a oil pressure gauge and was fuel injected, floored it crank 2 times for about 10s and got oil pressure then crank it normaly

I've had a similar experience with my s3. Spent large parts of the last 18 months sat as it needed a lot of work doing such as turbo, clutch etc. It had never smoked before then when it was used daily. I've used it a little more often recently after all the work was finished and it's gradually stopped puffing out random blue whisps. I just don't think these older cars like sitting. Seals can go hard over time without use

This is actually a great comparison of how a Japanese and European car ages and which one is able to be resurrected easier, cheaper to fix and reliable.
Remember the MR2 is even older by a huge margin close to if not at least a decade or more. In terms of car years, that equates to 2 to 3 generation model years.
For perspective If you purchased the new Supra today, wait till it is in it's 3rd generation (10 years later) and that will be when the TT was manufactured. So a huge age difference!

It can be bluish though, I guess it's the amount of oil that it's burning. But it's most likely either those or the piston rings stuck. And if they're stuck, they either start working when they get oil or not.
Hey @Sarah -n- Tuned, have you replaced the oil filter mesh thing at the oil pan? It tends to get clogged and the oil pressure drops and... you know the rest.

The factory subwoofer on the MR2 sits in that cubby behind each seat. If it didn’t have a grill directly below the lid then your MR2 probably didn’t have it or the grill was replaced.

A different way to fix your swamp cooler would be to install a GFCI outlet in your garage, which you should probably have in there anyway since you occasionally wash stuff in there. That way next time the GFCI plug on your swamp cooler dies you can just replace it with a regular plug. Your garage outlet may already be wired into a GFCI circuit depending on the building codes in your area and for the most part you only need one GFCI outlet in the circuit to make all the outlets on that circuit GFCI. Just be careful where you plug in the swamp cooler if you do go this route next time.

  • @dre3k78
    @dre3k78 Před 4 lety

Yeah if you really enjoy your music its a great idea to add a sub in your car to fill out the low end. Doesn't have to be some monster set up just like an 8" or 10" will do. Most mid range door speakers will cut off around 40-60hz depending on quality. You need something to cover that 50-0hz range. You would be surprised how much you are missing in a song not hearing all the music covered in that range. Given the limited space and no trunk or rear deck available i think you made a great choice Sarah.

Next time try staggering those spade/crimp connectors in the loom. It'll save you a huge knot in the loom and make stuffing in the dash easier.

The Mk 1 Audi TT will become a European classic car in the next 10-15 years and could increase in value I was also tempted to buy a TT project but they are full of gremlins possibly like my mk 2 golf GTi which you could never really keep on top of fix or repair daily (domino effect) best of luck Sarah

Next time you swap a radio, or add anything with several pins, you can get all kinds of generic connectors with pins that you can wire up for more of a factory feel, instead of using a bunch of spade terminals or soldering it all in. Radio specific, ISO connectors are my go to, gives a very clean finish, basically make your own adapter.
Don't worry much about a few puffs of smoke from a car that's been sitting for a while, let everything clear itself out and see what's going on then. Your suspected fuel pressure regulator will cause fuel rail pressure to sink down, a few cycles of the key primes the rail and will allow it to start up easier, hitting the pedal just opens the throttle body.
You didn't touch on it in this video, but on your sgc1, you might want to look at the wiring diagram for your headlight circuit again. I think the power feed you chose for it's backlight dim input is the ground side of your high beam. If so, when you hit brights on, it will undim that display, slightly annoying, but not a problem. However, if that controller doesn't have sufficient snubbing diodes built into it, the flyback current from those lights could damage the controller.
