Christmas Day in the Lake District - Landscape Photography

- My conventional Christmas Day for the past few years is to head out with the camera and spend all day enjoying the peace and quiet of my surroundings and this year (2018) was no different.
With the Met Office predicting a day of heavy fog, I decided to head to Rydal Water and Waterhead at the north end of Lake Windermere.
Stationery sailing boats and lone trees were the subjects on my Christmas 'Most Wanted' list and that's exactly what I got. I hope you enjoy this video and if you did, please feel free to SUBSCRIBE to my channel. All support gratefully received.

Ha, ha, if only that was the case James. Arriving at Rydal at 8.30am on Christmas Day had me see three other people down by the tree with camera and tripods in hand. I could not believe it, lol. It was Roger at Wolfy Pics so I did not mind. I wish you a happy, healthy and wealthy 2019 James. Maybe our paths will cross on location at some point. Here's hoping.

@@JamesBellLandscapePhotography I guess it's a popular place due to the fact that it's by the roadside but still, I thought I was the only mad bugger out on Christmas Day morning, ha, ha. Continued success in all that you due James for 2019.
A true Photographer with cable release instead of all this 2 seconds delay crap and you can of course watch the unfolding image and press at the correct time without camera shake

Ha, ha, thank you Justin. I enjoyed the break as I jetsetted around the globe running workshops but now that I have a handful of weeks downtime, I shall produce a couple more for CZcams. I am off to the beautiful region of Assynt and Inverpolly in Scotland for a week's personal photography on the 5th January so i will definitely film a couple of videos while I am there. All the best for 2019 Justin and I hope that you're keeping well.
Sounds awesome Melvin! I spent 6 or so hours in the Assynt region a couple months back whilst on a drive and was blown away by the place, can’t wait to see what you produce!

Nice one Melvin! Thoroughly enjoyed your vlog and some wonderful images at the end there. Interesting to see the quick adjustment with the geared head too. I tried mine out very briefly and I'm really looking forward to getting out and giving it a real test. Guess it's a little late to say happy christmas, so I'll say happy new year instead!

Stunning images Melvin, is the tree close to the boathouse on Rydal?
Merry Christmas Melvin, loved the video. I noticed there is now only one tree on that tiny Island, when I was there last Autumn there was two. It looks much better now than before. Look forward to see what you produce in the new year and your thoughts on your new camera.

Yes there was two trees on the island but someone cut down the fast growing smaller on that was located on the right hand side. Personally I think that it looks a lot better. As for my thoughts on the Canon EOS R, I really, really like it but I shall give more of my thoughts once I have pushed it a little but early indications are very promising indeed.

3 LEGGED THING QR11-LC UNIVERSAL L-BRACKET - COPPER (ORANGE)
Looks like Andy got to the answer first Adam (thanks Andy). I use the 3LT copper L Bracket because at less tan £50, it's beautifully made, splits into two, never slips on the camera and has a couple of really sweet features too. Nice colour also. All the best for 2019 Adam and Andy.

Hi David. Not yet as I only took delivery of it three weeks ago. I want to use it for another month or so before giving my thoughts. I'm off to Iceland towards the end of January. I'll report back after then but all seems well at the moment. All the best for new year to you too David.
