- In February 2019, I spent a week photographing Lofoten in the depth of winter.
In this video, I visit the stunning iconic locations of Hamnoy, Reine and Fredvang.
I explain how I compose the photos that I take in the video as well as show you the final images taken, the equipment and camera settings used. I also offer up a few tips and tricks to help you improve your landscape photography too.

Nice winter shot of Reine!
Wow, some amazing shots there Melvin, and great commentary as well. Superb.
Thank you very much Chas. I have to confess that the images sparkled well on the videos which pleased me. The place is a landscape photographer's paradise and it's hard to go wrong there :-)
Beautiful shots. Thank you very much for sharing. Looking forward to see the next one 😊
Thank you very much Gosia. I appreciate you saying. I'm jetting off to New Zealand on Wednesday for three weeks followed by ten days in South Australia. I cannot wait and of course I will film a few videos while I am there too.

Blimmy Mel you got some cracking shots there. hope part 2 is as good. Nice to see you back even though I only live 10 mins from you LOL
Thanks Andy. I have to say that I lucked in with the weather in the main and that shows in the images I captured. It's a hell of a place and I cannot wait to return in November.
excellent video Melvin - thank you
Thank you David. I'm so pleased you liked them :-)
Did not think I could learn anything new. I all ready know I should expose to the right that I don’t but I did not know that you get a better file size. I use a 5dmkiv and I think I am going to try it more now. Top tip and amazing photos dig bow now this sun bow wow
Ah yes, not many people seem to know that you end up with a larger file size the more you push the histogram to the right. Thankfully the Canon show this information and to the best of my knowledge, no other brand does. Just one of the reasons why I love shooting Canon.
Superb quality, photos and well put together :)
Thank you very much for saying PP. After all the effort one goes through in creating video content, it's always nice to hear that people enjoy it. Have a great week :-)
I remember seeing shots from this trip on your Instagram. What an incredible place and those conditions! 👌 Brilliant video!
Thank you Stephen. Lofoten in the winter is something else and I was so blessed with amazing conditions and of course plenty of snow too. I returned recently (Feb 2020) and even saw the northern lights. I was overjoyed :-)
