Hello everyone,
in today's video we will be discussing the recent disappearance of Thomas Lee Robison (58) and his 11 year old dog, a Welsh Corgi.
His car was discovered abandoned at Lee’s Ferry in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, and he was thought to be traveling down the Colorado River possibly back into Grand Canyon National Park. it is thought he was exploring Grand Canyon National Park then traveled up to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to launch his raft..
He was using a very small, homemade wooden raft. There is a massive search underway for Mr Robison and his dog.
if you have any information regarding this case please contact The Grand Canyon Dispatch at: 928-638-7805.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Thomas, his dog, all his loved ones and all the authorities and search and rescue team members out looking for them🙏🙏
Please share this video with anyone that may be in that area or traveling to the area.
Thank you for watching!

An 11 year old corgi hardly sounds like a good companion for this doomed trip.😢
Bryan please keep us informed if you find out anymore information. 😢 This is just heartbreaking for him and his dog. Let’s all pray that both are found safely. ❤
I will for sure and yes I agree 100% I'm also finding it odd that no friends or family have come forward yet... or maybe they have and they have just been kept out of the media.. right now it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.. thank you for watching and your thoughts🙏
I pray for the well=being of the dog… is there any evidence he actually put the raft in the water? Sounds like a fancy suicide event.
Prayers for a safe return for Thomas and his dog. Thanks for covering this case, Bryan. I hadn't heard about it until now.
Thank you for watching and your thoughts and prayers for them🙏🙏
If I ever tie three surf boards together and say I'm going to sail down the Grand Canyon, I have faked my death.
Definitely a possibility but why take your dog with you? That's crazy cruel..I hope that's not the case..🙏 thank you for watching and your feedback🙏
😂
@@Pamela-c5o Dog here. That's correct. My human pretends to die, it means nothing to me.
@@MrFg1980😂 I laughed out loud.
😂so funny about surf boards too.
The makeshift raft is a big red flag.
Yes I can't believe it.. I mean I just hope they are both found safe🙏 but yes it's crazy that he was/ is using that raft to go down the Colorado River:(thank you for watching and your feedback🙏
Sadly, this feels suicidal.
@@thefleming7950 The designs on the individual planks look as if he and his dog are going on some mystic or ceremonial journey. I feel an unfortunate incident. I hope it wasn't a planned event.
We don't even know if he actually went on the river.
@@wncjan apparently there were some witnesses who saw him heading down to the water with that craft but yes you're right they didn't see him in the water.. that's why I said I search like this is so difficult and dangerous.. Hopefully it works out for the best🙏thank you for watching and your feedback!
Watching from Poland, as always. Praying for a positive outcome!
Thank you for watching and your thoughts and prayers for them🙏🙏 I hope all is well in Poland!
I pray they will be found soon and ok. That is crazy taking a raft like that down a river, especially with a dog!!
This case is similar to one of the men searching for the Forest Fenn treasure in New Mexico years back. It was a man also in his 50's with his dog, who bought a small raft and wanted to search along the Rio Grande. Sadly his body was found months later. His dog was found alive shortly after his disappearance. I do hope that this man is waiting for help somewhere, and that maybe other rafters will find him. But it sounds like he did this on a whim almost, with a wood raft, no permit and no garmin inreach or anything to help locate him in such a remote area. Thank you for sharing and caring about this missing person❤.
I remember that and many others who risked their lives for that treasure.. and yes what Thomas did doesn’t make any sense. But there are so many possibilities and unknowns...Hopefully they are both found safe! Thank you for watching and sharing🙏🙏
I pray he and his dog are found safely. Thk you Bryan for bringing this event to our attention. God bless you.
I do as well, but the more time that passes with no clues or info, the harder it gets:( I'm hoping by some chance people will come forward with info or that all the men and women searching will find them safe🙏thank you for watching and your prayers for them🙏🙏
Looks like he just won the Darin award. Feel bad for his dog
Have some respect !
@@jasmine0354 I knew you were going to say that.
@@jasmine0354He didn’t have respect. Not for himself or for his poor dog, who certainly didn’t deserve what happened

@@sandrab2589 Pardon my misspelling. Thanks!
Thanks for getting this video about so fast so people are aware of it if they're in that area and hopefully they'll find him and his dog
poor poor dog.
He seems a little confused, why take risks on a piece of wood as that’s no raft. Hope he and his dog are found alive 🙏
maybe he just found out he's got 3-6 months left to wither away in hospital bed - and he wanted to have a last adventure? (pity about the dog though)
I’ve been on this section of the Colorado river several times. I can tell you that it is very highly unlikely he is somewhere along the river waiting to be rescued. This time of year there are several rafting trips a day that depart from Lee’s ferry. Some group would have found him long ago if he had simply had an accident along the river. My guess is, as somebody else suggested, he is faking his own death, or if he really was foolish enough to go down the Colorado river without a permit in a “raft” like that, his body will surface at some point.
Yes I was not in any way suggesting he was still in the area of Lee's Ferry or Glen canyon. I was suggesting he possibly went down much further or possibly only went down that area for a short while and either left the water or met up with other people and went somewhere else.. yes it's quite possible he was trying to fake his own death or even more plausible suicide.. who knows..🤷♂️thank you for watching and sharing you experiences in the area! Appreciate the info and feedback🙏🙏
This situation sounds more like mental illness or dementia than stupidity. Although you can’t rule out stupidity. It’s a shame that no one stepped in to stop him. Either he has no one or they just didn’t care. It’s very sad for the dog. He had no choice and just trusted his human.
Thank you for your dedication to spreading the word of these cases! I can really see your compassion and hope! I hope they are both found safe!
Thank you! I hope so too!
Hi Bryan!
Thank you so much for covering the story of Thomas Robinson and his Welsh Corgi, I really hope and pray that Thomas and his dog will be able to be found soon so they will be able to be reunited with his family cause I imagine they are really worried about him. Thank you for all you do for the missing and their families! Have a great weekend!

This was very foolish and wreckless. It's like something a 12 year old boy would do. Death wish?
Early onset dementia?

It's so admirable of you putting in so much work for a current, ongoing case. But from far away in Sweden, the only thing I can do is post this comment for the YT algorithm, and send thoughts & prayers about that Mr Robinson and his Corgi is found safe.
I'm really glad you did a full video and thank you for all your time and effort on these disappearances! Prayers for both of them and all of the search teams!
Thank you as always for your thoughts and comments🙏🙏
I really hope he’s found, and he’s alive and well. At least there’s hope, since it’s such a short time that he’s been missing. Thank you so much Bryan. I hope he’s found very soon.
I do too but as more time passes with no witnesses coming forward, it's impossible to say where they could be:( but yes I'm hoping someone will come forward with info or people out on rafting trips this weekend will see something or even him and his dog on land somewhere waiting for help.. thank you for watching and your kind feedback 🙏
@@bawattsyl You’re very welcome Bryan.
I am worried about the dog 😳
I hope both see found safe, I couldn't tell from any of the info I found that he had a life preserver for the dog.. it seems like he kept him in that little crate you see in the one picture but🤷♂️ I just hope and pray they are both found safe🙏thank you for watching!

You know it's sad when a person has more empathy for a dog than a human being 🙄.... Disgusting to hear, disgraceful & totally disrespectful to say....

My heart is breaking thinking about that poor dog.
Thank you Bryan. Praying they are found safe. 🙏♥️
Thank you for watching and your prayers for them🙏🙏
It's one thing to embark on a hare-brained venture by yourself, it's _horrible_ to bring an animal along. I hope that nobody gets hurt trying to find this man and his unfortunate dog. He is SO irresponsible...
Many people do scary risky things and you can not talk them out of it, no matter what 😢
That's true... who knows what this man's intentions were or what he s thinking..Hopefully by some miracle they are both found safe🙏thank you for watching and comment!
he was a fool to attempt this ride with a "raft" but to include his dog .....this river is very unforgiving read "Sunk without a sound," praying they are found alive
That raft is not something anyone would be safe travelling through the grand canyon riding .Really stupid!! There are rules for a reason!!! Now people have to risk their lives to try and find him. How would that raft even be navigable so that he could turn to shore before getting to the rapids? A little research and googling would show how dangerous it is and has always been to do this!!! It's a big deal to do this and that raft was not appropriate by any means.
Which leads us to wonder how a reasonably sane dude would attempt this crazy trip. I bet his dog went overboard and he jumped in to save it. God rest his soul.
Exactly. Well said.
some guys are just really dumb....(unfortunately.)....search and rescue people know this, but still risk their lives like you said. Very selfish behavior if you ask me...just look at that raft, and his reckless behavior, not following the recommended protocols. typical male bravado. possibly hoping Bryan will feature him....brought the dog along for more sympathy...pathetic.
I'll say it again, it makes me so mad when people do "stoo pid" things and bring their pets on dangerous outings! So selfish! Horrible owners! Irresponsible. LEAVE them at home!! And arrange for a trusted pet sitter. They don't deserve to pay the price for their mistakes!!! And don't blame the dog. It's the guy's fault!
It's definitely irresponsible:( and from what I could find he didn't have any safety equipment for the dog and really barely any for himself:( hopefully they are both found safe🙏 thank you for watching and your feedback🙏
@@bawattsylalso selfish to do these things than others have to put their lives on the line to try and save selfish ppl.
I also agree. You cant fix “ stupid” but dont take an innocent pet with you. Insane🤬
Wisdom doesn't always come with age. Foolish is as Foolish does.
Why would anyone believe they could go down any river, less alone, the Colorado on 3 planks strung together!? Stupid people doing stupid things.
That poor dog. What terrible luck to end up with this irresponsible human.
Hi Bryan how are you doing? You do awesome work, i really admire the level of compassion you show to others. ❤
Thank you, I appreciate that🙏 I really hope to get back in the field this summer. My captain in Washington State wants me and my team to come up and help with their team both on cases that are still unsolved and any cases that come up. Hopefully these 2 are found safe in land somewhere 🙏 thank you for watching and your feedback!
Yes he is a kind soul
I shared the request for searchers on my Facebook page since I have family and friends in AZ. Though not the northern part - they can share and pass this on too. Really sad. I was on the Colorado River in the 70s when I was 10 and younger. It was very scary out there on the water so I'm always amazed at those brave enough to go at that on their own. It looks serene but some parts are not at all serene. And if you got stuck somewhere- good luck getting out. Bad Idea to do that solo. I wish he'd left his dog at home.
Thank you for sharing it! That was very kind of you! Hopefully someone will see something and come forward.. or since it's the weekend and many tours and rafting groups will be out, Hopefully they'll see something or maybe even see them.. maybe stranded on land somewhere . Thank you for watching and for sharing🙏🙏
You do such an awesome job over coverage of the missing and those who have passed. I've been a long time lurker and subscribed probably about a year ago. I love your channel!
Thank you🙏that's very kind of you to say! I'm hoping to get back on the field this summer and assist with my captain in Washington state as well as my own team in California and Oregon. In fact we are currently looking for more volunteers and certified SAR planners. I hope by some miracle they find Thomas and his dog🙏 if they are on land somewhere, it's still possible they are alive.. thank you for watching and your kind words🙏🙏
Second. Hi Bryan. 🇨🇦🍁. No mistakes. ☺️
Nice! Thank you for watching and your comment🙏 Hopefully these 2 are both found safe🙏🙏
Hopefully he’s found soon. ❤
I think the waters of the Colorado are freezing cold this time of year. It's very hard to picture that rickety raft with him and a dog on it, and also getting soaked constantly. I hope they can find him.
I hope him and his dog are found!!! I don’t think homemade rafts are very safe?! idk
Dunning-Kruger effected raft builder.
That homemade ‘raft’ was not a raft. This is a really crazy disappearance. I have to wonder if this man had some kind of break with reality. And I’ll say it again, ALWAYS take a GarminInReach or other type emergency 🆘 device and 2 Mylar blankets and some extra nutrition bars. Those things weigh very little and can easily save lives. I’m praying 🙏 Thomas and his dog 🐕 are found safe. 👍☮️🌞🛶⛰️🌵
Yep it looks more like a piece of art to me.. also I said the exact thing about the Garmin or sat com device at the end of the video.. I'm definitely in agreement! Thank you for watching and your feedback 🙏🙏
I appreciate the effort you put in to get these videos out for current cases when time is of the essence!
Thank you! I just hope it helps in some way🙏 I miss being in the field and hoping I can go out west sometime this summer to assist on searches and investigatons.. thank you for watching and your kind words🙏🙏
Sending prayers ❤😢
Thank you for watching and your prayers for them and the search teams🙏🙏
How selfish to take an 11 year old dog on a handmade raft. Corgi’s have very short legs and aren’t swimmers. He must have dementia or be mentally ill.
Early onset dementia?
Just a freedom fighter who has no common sense by the sounds of it.
Why the f would anyone bring their dog down a river om a wooden plank..?
Fish gotta eat too you know. 😂
Only a madman would attempt it.
I have absolutely no idea:(
Mental problems. Poor dog. 😢
People choose their own destiny don't judge you might make a stupid mistake someday. Do you want us to judge you?
I did see this but not aware after embarking on raft any further info. Thank you for your video.
My prayers for his family and Thomas
Come on. This is 2024. Rafts are inexpensive. Survival gear is readily available. Use it when going out. Leave pets at home or in a shelter. They are vulnerable in the wilderness.
All very true and no clue what he was thinking or why he brought the dog with no safety gear. And even if you're not experienced, there are warnings all over about the river, the policies and requirements.. and yes I can't believe he brought the dog;( hopefully they are on land somewhere and will be found safe🙏thank you for watching!
That raft is some Wile E. Coyote-looking contraption. I really wish he could have been talked out of this endeavor. 😔
Edit to add: I think offering the short as well as the longer video was a great way to cover all the bases. I watched the short, too.
I liked the way you referred to his raft.. yes when my associate sent me the picture last wee, I thought it was a piece of art or something like that..I was shocked that anyone would actually attempt the Colorado River on that thing..🤯 unless he was only planning on testing it for a few hundred feet and something happened but everything we know and have found out says he was actually trying to go miles and miles down the river.. it's also possible he met up with other people or left the River.. with all the River and tour groups that have gone out since, coupled with the SAR, someone would have probably found something by now but🤷♂️thank you for watching and your feedback! Appreciate it🙏🙏
Raft by ACME
Wow. Wow!! I'm VERY familiar with that area. I've gone down the Colorado from Glen Canyon Dam, Lee's Ferry. You cannot survive that trip on a makeshift raft. The water coming out of the dam is in the 40's. The rapids below the dam are absolutely impassable on such a raft. Also, the canyon closes up quickly and there is no way to climb up or hike back. Basically, you are committed in a very short distance. Their only chance would've been to stop and climb out before going too far, or beaching it before hitting the steep canyon walls and waiting for help. I don't recall any side canyons he could've gotten out of either.
If searches down river haven't found anything, then it doesn't look good.
Unbelievable foolish to sit on a raft a 10 year old boy would construct - with a dog ?
Now searchers are risking their life for an old man not knowing how to prepare in a wilderness !
That little poor dog - I hope they will be found - but unlikely !🙏
thank you.Bryan 🫶🏼🙏🏼
All I wanted was to circulate the story to hopefully reach as many people as possible because you never know who might see and who might have some answers.. this has actually happened before on this channel.. so you never know. Hopefully they are both found safe🙏 thank you for watching and your feedback!
Maybe he’s suffering from dementia or some medical condition. Praying for all involved in bringing home him his dog and all searchers
It's possible but if so no one knew of this but who knows:( hopefully they will both be found alive🙏 at this point it's impossible to know how far down river they got making it very difficult for search and rescue. It's one of the biggest national parks with over a million acres of Terrain. Thank you for watching and your feedback🙏🙏
I knew Tomas Robison about twenty years ago. He was a good human being and an enthusiastic supporter of the Progressive wing of the Democratic Party. As far as how he died, “Judge not, that you be not judged.”
Thanks, Tomas.
What was going on in his life?
That poor dog!
Yes:( I can't imagine what his intentions are/ were :( unless he was only thinking of testing the raft for a hundred yards or so and something happened... but he should have had a life vest for the dog and more safety gear and to me that raft is more of a piece of art than something to use for actual water activities.. thank you for watching and your feedback 🙏🙏
Hope he’s found
Why didn’t someone stop this disaster before it happened. So sad. I will be praying for all who are looking for him.😢
Let’s just all hope a miracle happens and the man and his dog are found alive. It’s only been 5 days so it’s still possible he is waiting to be rescued. Unfortunately that puts a lot of weight on the shoulders of the rescuers.
With all the snow fall this year the river will be ripping. Hope he's alright
Yes:( especially if they made it further south.. which is quite possible as the river is calm for miles but then gets really rough.. who knows what he was thinking but I hope they are found safe somewhere.. 🙏🙏 with those canyons though, it's incredibly hard and dangerous to search.. thank you for watching and your feedback🙏
Launched from Lee's Ferry on four river trips. The water comes out of the dam at about 45F, his "watercraft" looks like a get wet type of rig, which is fine, for humans wearing a drysuit...but the dog ?
It's conceivable to get to, say, Badger Creek at river mile 8 with all flat water. You could hike out at that canyon, or portage the rapid at Badger and float the flats down to North Canyon mile 11, with Stanton's Cave and the petroglyphs and then hike out North and loop back to Lee's Ferry on 89. Helluva' hike.
He couldn't possibly have planned on running the river very far.
So many people drown trying to save their dogs, happened recently with a dog caught in a rip tide. the owner drowned, the dog made to back to shore, hopefully this wasn't the case. This was in SO CA.
When will people stop doing foolish things? Especially adults old enough to know better. Equip yourself properly. It’s 2024! We have the technology to ensure you live for a few hundred dollars.
This man was the only family the dog has . He trusted him. This was a stupid thing too try . No safety jacket for his dog unless he was wearing it. But mainly because he is 11 years old and this man has him hiking all over . And that raft , it’s a toy. But I pray they are both found safe .
I agree, very irresponsible and I can't believe he took his dog.. who knows.. maybe he knew he wasn't coming back.. but still why take your dog:( with the amount of time now it's almost impossible to say where they could be..it's possible they easily could have floated the first 10 miles then got into rapids and by that time they would be back in grand canyon national park possibly so the way down to the north east of the North Station Entrance of Grand CanyonNationalPark.... if so they would be in for real trouble.. thank you for watching and your feedback🙏🙏
I hope he and his dog is found. I would never ever risk my dogs life on a so called raft like his.
Wow, it doesn’t look good. He’s been missing for a week already. I really truly hope that they are OK. I hope they find him and his dog alive and well.
I know:( unless they left the river or met up with other people that had a proper raft.. but like I said there are many tour and rafting groups going out.. especially on the weekend.. plus the SAR teams and authorities have been looking for days.. something probably would have been found by now.. but🤷♂️ his raft looks more like a piece of art than an actual raft... but yes hopefully by some miracle they are both found safe🙏🙏 at this point It's impossible to know where they could possibly be..especially since we have such little information.. thank you for watching and your feedback🙏🙏
If he is faking it, its sad.
If he is not faking it, its sad.
Sounds like his sense of adventure is bigger than his i.q. Unfortunately, I could totally see myself doing something similar. Hope the two of them make it out alright.
One is allowed to go down river 8 miles without a permit but the makeshift raft is a guarantee one is going to get wet and the water is 47 degrees
His body was found May 14th. They did not mention about the dogs whereabouts
If he’s lost on that raft how did they get a picture of it? Maybe they got it from a relative that he sent a pic of it before he left. Those are interesting carvings on those boards. I would love to have that raft. I wouldn’t go down the river on it though.
This wasn't the first time he used the raft..apparently he was very proud of his construction and art so he had photos of it before this venture.. but I agree it looks more like art or decorative than something I would want to attempt any body of water with really...except maybe a small mountain lake.. who knows what his intentions were🤷♂️thank you for watching and your comment🙏🙏
Three boards tied together at Lee's ferry is insane he did not make it far something does not add up.I'm surprised the rangers did not stop him at Lee's ferry it's a busy area.
Prayers.
There's lots of rafting trips there's a good chance some rafters will find him
That's very true and hopefully being the weekend and more people out, someone will see something. It's possible they are on land somewhere and looking for a way out or waiting for help. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏
My hope is the dog is safe and will be found.
Sounds like it could have been a suicide.
I pray they are found safe
I was there two weeks ago
This is so sad.
Definitely sad and frustrating:( searches like this are extremely difficult and dangerous because of the terrain and limitations.. just praying for some kind of miracle that they are both found safe🙏🙏 thank you for watching and your feedback🙏
I’m hoping that they are both found safe. The dog is older, but hopefully the dog would be able to swim ashore.
I've heard you reference WWU, and Bellingham, Wa a couple times, I lived in B-ham in the early 90's and wondered if you have anymore weird stories about this area. I would like to communicate with you on a weird story I heard snippets of and see if we could find more info about. Thanks, Pete C love your videos.
He is probably just chilling with his dog ,hiking and having fun
There were those guys who inner tubed the riverand made it, but why is the assumption he was maybe going to raft the grand canyon? Was he known to do extreme sports? Would he really have taken an 11 yr old dog? Maybe he was just going on a day trip
You don’t do a day trip from Lee’s Ferry. That’s a multi day/ multi week trip. I also believe you need a permit. Only day trip is if you’re going up river. But no way he’s paddling up river especially on a bunch of planks.
Yes that's why I said; no one really knew his intentions or if he was actually alone with the dog. Hopefully a family member or someone he met or saw will provide the authorities more info. But yes from what I found he was known to be very adventurous, doing extreme things like this but not much is known at this point.. Hopefully they are on land and either trying to find higher ground or waiting for help. Thank you for watching and your feedback🙏🙏
May 13th news states body was found… was it positively identified as Thomas?
Quite a few hikers seem to go missing in GC 😮
It’s a dangerous place ! So big, temp changes quickly but this almost sounds like a death wish.
Yes, that's true.. it's over one million, two hundred thousand acres! So much of it is very difficult to search and dangerous as well.. it's definitely a beautiful place but people need to respect it and realize the dangers..I always recommend anyone traveling, especially solo, carry a sat com device, know how to use it, and tell at least 2 people of your plans. Hopefully these 2 will be found safe🙏thank you for watching and your feedback!
I hope him and his precious dog are found safe. However, it makes me so angry when people intentionally put themselves in danger and their actions force others to risk their own lives to rescue them. And to put his dog in danger like that! Was this a normal thing for him to do, or is it possible he had some undiagnosed dementia or something happening? I hope everyone searching remains safe.
First listen
Nice!! Thank you for watching and commenting! I hope the right person or people out there see this or any news on their disappearance and can help the authorities and SAR Teams locate them🙏
Sadly his body was recovered recently - no word on his poor dog.
I figure I'm just a couple doctor's visits away from embarking on some similar trip (except I wouldn't take a dog). The point being - "not coming back" might've been the whole point of his trip.
You know the bit about judging others and walking a mile in their shoes...
What the hell was he thinking? Now people are risking their lives for him.
some people have a death wish . the raft was a cry for help
Sounds logical.
I suppose, strictly speaking, you can call three planks and a bit of string a "raft" but I think "potential flotsam" is probably more accurate. I hope both he and his dog are found safe, but there really is no end to the silly things people will do is there? And why drag an elderly dog with stumpy wee legs onto your death-trap in waiting?
I don't know what inspired him to make such a choice, perhaps he's unwell, but it's a shame nobody was able to talk him out of it. I recently heard a story about a woman who got lost hiking the Grand Canyon with her dog and they were rescued after three weeks. I hope this man and his dog make it out okay, too.
How sad.
They found his body in Grand Canyon NP today 5/13/24. No sign of the dog.
And he was in the water. I came here to post and sure glad you posted already.
This is no joke, those rapids are extremely dangerous even for seasoned rafter/kayakers. And this time of the year the water is high. That life vest was not appropriate, and taking that poor corgi with him - what was this man thinking????
I know, I was shocked when I first got the call from a fellow SAR member out west telling me the details.. then when I saw the pictures I was like😳 sadly he's by no means the first to attempt something crazy like this.. in fact that's originally why they put in place the permit system.. so many people who had no experience were getting killed on the river.. even now people still do stuff like this.. just crazy! And very sad too that he brought his dog and I didn't see any life vest for the dog:(( I hope by some miracle they are found..Hopefully they were able to make it to land.. and are trying to get out or looking for help.. thank you for watching and your feedback🙏🙏
The look on the pup's face says to me that he knew what his person was planning was a very bad idea. Hope the pup survived! Well, in my opinion, the guy knew the parks authorities would not let him do something so dangerous so he didn't tell them. A case of better to ask for forgiveness that to ask for permission. In my opinion, he was a very foolish man, especially to risk the pup's life in such an endeavor. Also, in my opinion, if the dog jumped out, it was to escape; not to swim. Praying for their survival; especially the pup's!
He may wanted to go out this way. His mount fiji Aokigahara forest .
Very possible:( but if so, very cruel to take the dog out too:( I'm sure the dog didn't agree with his ideas...whatever they may be/ have been..Hopefully they are on land or left the water and are somewhere alive 🙏 thank you for watching and your feedback🙏🙏
I highly doubt he was intending to go far, you would have to be actually insane obviously to do that.
Since he left at Lee's ferry, I think most likely he was planning on only going around 1.8km to an area called pariah beach, which if he was able to get his raft off here, he could then walk back to his car, and drive his car back over to pariah beach which has a car park, and then put his raft on his car and go home etc. He was likely only intending on doing something like this.
I believe what happened is that when it got to this area, the current of the river kept taking himself and his raft with it and he wasn't able to get it to the shore near pariah beach, the river gets narrower here and likely gets faster, and he never tried this before so he didn't realise how hard it would be to actually force a primitive raft to one side of a river while the current is pushing you down river constantly.
I think he was forced to go much father than he intended to, and at some point in a wider and shallower area he was able to get off the raft with his dog. However at that point he would have been wet, and possibly night time was falling. There is nowhere to go, but up one of the side creeks that are dry creeks basically that eventually take you to higher land, however these are like mini canyons in themselves and often go for several km's before you are at the top of the canyon and near any road. Most likely it was night time and he was freezing from being wet, so he tried to crawl into a rocky crevice somewhere in the side of one of these dry creeks that run off the side of the canyon. Sadly they will probably find his body in one of those areas. I would imagine he initially was able to get off his raft at badger creek rapids, or soap creek rapids.
Another possibility is that the same story follows all as above, except when he got to the rapids he fell out of his raft and hit his head on a rock and basically lost consciousness and died in the water following that. His body then was pushed a bit ahead of the rapids and sank in the deeper body of water after the rapids, and his homemade raft was carried a long distance down the river. His dog in this case was likely able to swim to the shore, yet probably would die after a few nights along out there.
I had the same thought that he may have planned to only go as far as Pariah beach where the Pariah river runs in to the Colorado. However, as you pointed out, the Colorado begins to narrow there and with the Pariah's water running at that time of year into the Colorado, the currents became two swift for him to get to the beach to his right and he was swept quickly down the Colorado. As you know, they did find his body around mile marker 6 on the river, but the lack of any follow-up information is odd. As for getting a permit to park or use the Ferry area, when you drive into Lee's Ferry - which is actually a large recreational area that includes hiking trails - there is a pullout to the right with information story boards and a payment Kiosk to purchase a permit that allows you to enter the area. If he had driven past that, not knowing it was a permit purchase area, he would have reached Lee's Ferry with no permit. Also, if he was only planning on using his raft to go from the "Ferry" to Pariah Beach, then he intentionally may have thought he did not need a permit. The permit would have given data on the day/time of approximate arrival. I think possibly very early in the morning before other rafters arrived. Seems strange that no one stopped him or asked him about his strange water craft. Such a sad story and no word on anyone finding the little dog. Final thought is that he may have had cognitive issues or just plain made bad choices based on his lack of knowledge of the might Colorado.
Poor dog, no choice!
We’re located at Grand Canyon West, Pearce Ferry Take out. Alerts have been issued to keep a lookout.. sadness 😢 obviously mentally challenged.
Do people realize that going out alone is your first mistake. Now the rules in parks should be the buddy system . No solo hiking, this would cut down on the lost people. A pet doesn’t count either .
Sat that! Where is Ashley loring heavy runner
I don't know:( her case was one of the first I covered on this channel and have continued trying to get more information. I definitely know it's foul play but haven't been able to get some of the information I requested. But I'll keep looking until her disappearance. 🙏
Thank you for watching and your feedback🙏
Here's a link to the video I did for her case: czcams.com/video/wkXPIMxSpTI/video.htmlsi=msIM28VeOi0OFLRR
