I got this recently and this bike feels like something completely different than the e-bikes or road bikes we know. It can be a training tool to help one target your zones, it can be something that extends your rides i.e. allows you go further when riding. You still have to work, but your speed is amplified and therefore so is your range. Quite a bike!
This bike is amazing we live in good times
I'm, perhaps, the first person in the world to buy a used SL Creo Carbon road. It was used once and the purchaser realized it was the wrong size. I got it for $5,500, the size and color was the exact model I wanted. I should receive it by Christmas this year.
I was going to wait for springtime but, with this price and opportunity, I had to get it.
I love my Creo SL aluminum ride. It’s the least expensive at $6k when I bought it almost two years ago. Sweet ride. It’s not as nimble as my all carbon Roubaix, it is nice to use up steeper grades. I can get about 208 mi without the battery extender if I watch the battery usage on climbs and flats or downhills. I rode a century and still had 60+% battery remaining. But it was only 1500’ ascent. Great ride
Awesome nice job Specialized
My bike weighs the same without the motor and is full carbon (giant defy 3 2019)
just picked up the 2019 levo expert 700w/h its insane how far you can go and how much you can climb in eco 20%.I'd love to have the gravel creo but I try and avoid the road
Now imagine if my cheap Sduro powered by Yam PW-SE with 400wh actually had had a 700wh battery,, Currently on eco (Which is next one up from eco+) I can easily do a 60 mile journey without puffing out on hills ... I really could do some epic journeys! But I'm broke and can't even afford the available 500 lol
Just bought a Creo Comp Carbon EVO for $4,150 US. Prices are coming down to a more reasonable level.
I just got a carbon sl one with 160km on it 6k can
Everything about these bikes is fantastic except the price, it is unreachable for us mere mortals, but if I win the lottery I'm getting it for sure 😁
That depends. There are plenty of "mere mortals" that can easily afford the ebikes with the prices shown. It depends on your money and job planning goals, hard work and determination, too.
I just got my Creo SL E5 comp, I will say it is a wonderful piece of machinery, it is not like any other ebike. The concept is it will work if you work, not like the typical ebikes you ride. It is worth it, but I wonder how much faster I would be going if I had less weight and more aero.
I'm 67 years old and presently ride a 2018 Giant Defy Advanced Pro 0. I love my bike, but my next road bike will have an electric motor. Unfortunately, it won't be this bike. $12,250CAN for the cheapest version is WAY more than I would spend on any bicycle.
Looks great but will the motor work in a year? How much and how long will it cost to inspect and fix if not? Same with the suspension up front? Seems like a risky investment, probably even a money pit.
Nice byke. Easy to ride.
Interesting product. Great for opening up the mountains to people who struggle with the effort required. However, 46 x 11 isn’t going to be much fun on descents. I’m amazed by how popular these are becoming. You see loads of older riders on them and although Pinarello got slated for their early adverts, i would love to have the missus tag along on a sella ronda loop on an e-bike. I’m sure she’d get great pleasure in dropping me and riding up the passes at 25km/h!
Cant afford it, but this looks amazing, and would keep me on the bike given my Cardiologist diagnosing me with heart issues that limit me to "low intensity". Perhaps a goal to work towards.
Thanks
What are the tires called?
To which speed does the motor assist and how can I change the limit of assistance (if I get a license for it to make it legal on streets)?
up to 26 mph in the USA. 26 KPH in europe.
@@stevecohen9792 Correction.. It is 28mph in the United States. 25 kilometers (15mph) in Europe.
I want I want I want,wait don't have 10 grand yet,sell my look and get a loan,who's with me!
Easy to assemble.
So what happens when the battery depletes after 5 years?
New one is around $400
You replace it
I want one. Like Now!
I must admit, that is EXTREMELY tempting!!!
William Walters what a tool
I’m all for e bikes keeping people riding or allowing people to start riding. But I’m not sure about £10k e bikes or e bikes that don’t look like e bikes. I’d buy one as a spare for no more than £1.5k to help with commutes but wonder when the e doping will start to take the fun out of segment kom hunting.
its already happening
I know you spent more for your road bike, so why not on a ebike. When I bought my firsdt road bike I felt like I should have got the higher model cause the one I bought turned out to be really great!
I love the concept, but eliminate the carbon frame and wheels and electronic shifting and give me a $5-6,000 model.
Di2 is used because Specialized has used road shifters and a MTB rear mech; this combination is not possible with Shimano mechanical.
@@DavidJames-sv9sm Hope that changes on an "inexpensive" model.
@@questionmark6971 I was curious, and wondered "how about GRX?"
RD-RX812 Rear mech has a max capacity of 42T
FC-RX810-1 1x chainset has a 42T ring, likely possible to fit a bigger ring
GRX is "road pull", so could use GRX, Ultegra, or DuraAce mechanical shifters.
Will be interesting to see what happens when 12 speed moves over to road; will the road and MTB have the same cable pull (again); 10 speed had the same cable pull, and SRAM has the same cable pull.
@@DavidJames-sv9sm Just so they get the price down to $5000 or so.
@@questionmark6971 it seems spesh could certainly have considered mechanical GRX; i see no technical compatibility reason that mechanical GRX would not have worked.
However, and being cynical i appreciate, perhaps spesh wanted to create a niche (read that as expensive) product.
Just wait until Aug-2020 when the 2019 model is sold as a massive discount.
It's rumored Lance Armstrong had a battery hidden away in his bike. Wonder if that's how he was able to win 7 in a row.
These bikes will depreciate so quickly just 6 mos later. If you buy one, make sure you hold on to it.
Sure, I always think that. But the chances of you finding one that fits you and you being there when its available is usually slim.
And then COVID came
@@gregkosinski2303 Doesn’t matter. I’ve been trying to sell mine (a medium In brand new condition) for $6k for over a month now.
Beautiful bike. Ebikes are the future for sure! But looking at the price, is Specialized a medical/pharma company?? (I mean regarding the fact that there is more than 400% profit on frames alone?? 😂 😂
Holy crap 9k for the SL, 13,5k for sworks YIKES
@@nathandm1 exactly. As I said, "how to make over 3000 euros on a single frame "
There seems to be an alloy framed version coming as well. And surely lower specced versions are coming. They just start with the super expensive ones so all money-no-object people who like to be first to the party can get their satisfaction.
Wow. Just bought a 2019 fastroad e+ $3000 NZD. 45kph assist, 450wh. A creo cost about $12000NZD I believe. Got myself a deal.
Bit like saying you brought a Ford for 4K and someone brought a Lamborghini so you saved 300k 🤣🤣
@@rogerarmstrong9960 Yeah nah, not really like saying that at all lol.
What will happen to Strava KOMs?
Theres an e-bike category on Strava, pretty obvious if someone cheats
If your worried about that get a life 🤷♂️
@@rogerarmstrong9960 "your worried"
How much are they...dammit if the price is tooo high .....why watch
This is cool but if I want a car killer I'd like it to be cheaper than my car...
We need to change our speed limits to how the USA do it .then I'm in will ride to work 4 days a week let's get a petition after brexit as I believe this is a European law
I just posted my own review of the Creo - a punter's experience of riding and owning one. See here: czcams.com/video/PbIzfa0xHP0/video.html
thats a lot of money for e-bike
Think I’ll just buy a used Ducati that price
@@Ih8GoogleandApple why waste money on a Ducati , but a Vespa you moron
$9000 when Orbea has one for one for 3k and Ribble for $2400 is bold. Even Pinarello is $1000 cheaper.
Funny how bikes are always measured in pounds but since these are really heavy compared they give the weight in KGs. Why don't they say 30 pounds
Because the rest of the world measures in kg, meters and Celcius😉
who's going to buy an extremely expensive e road/gravel bike that can only assist up to 15mph or 25kph? Unless you live in the Alps. I regularly ride 28km's to work on a very undulating route and thought this bike was the answer! but looking at my data, my avg speed is usually 32-34kph, sometimes if after a busy night shift into a headwind its down to 30-31kph. Very rarely do I travel below 25kph. So unless the assistance limit can be raised to 40-45kph I cannot see any serious cyclist even contemplating buying these bikes.. And yes I am aware of what is legal\illegal in the UK and Europe, but unless these can be derestricted easily I will not be buying one.
Ivan Luck: The U.S. version assists up to 28 mph.
just installed the limiter remover and set it to the speed you like. I got one on the way for my new S-Works Turbo Creo SL EVO. 32 kph it will we limited in Canada. I will just set it for 45 kph but it can be set higher.
Why the hell would someone of your ability want an e-bike? They are for people with problems - I bought one because I needed some help on the hills when I hit 90 last year.
Call me old fashioned but I find this takes the buzz out of what cycling all about.
Couldn't agree more with you!
@@josuedepaz4282 for me cycling is about commuting to work in a fast way without using my car, how about you?
When I get old maybe...about a hundred years old, till then the power is in my legs
Just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung and bone cancer at 61, until now I’ve been cycling an S-Works tarmac, I’ve done Lejog , Wales in a day etc etc , don’t assume you’ll never need assistance. And don’t assume those you see that have e-bikes are just trying to make things easy for themselves 🤬
Are e-bikes really that loud? How do people hide riding these in races!! I always assumed e-bikes were silent.
Cameron Cerullo they aren’t ridden in races so no need to hide. There some emtb races now but everyone is riding them so no need to hide.
E-bike top speed ?
The firmware is adjusted at the place where you pick the bicycle up. Though its top assisted speed is 28 mph, the firmware adjustment will place the top speed to what is legal in your region.
In the UK and many parts of the world the legal restricted speed is 25kph but that's not the point with a road e bike. You'd almost ride it without the assist normally then let the assist kick in as you naturally slow down up hills.
@@01Peebee10 Yes, what you state is true but, then again, without a choice it MUST be true. :)
With a top speed of 28mph (45kph) one can use it for the hills and ride with the "A" riders, etc. If it's quiet enough, one can make believe they're Eddie Mercx and fool some really good riders on the bike path, etc. :) Living the fantasy....
I own a Specialized EMTB, I'm afraid the fantasy will be popped as the newer motors of 2019 are even louder than the 2018 models due to higher torque ranges. Sadly you wont fool anyone.
Cmon now. That price...
A 2017 bmw s1000rr is 16000 USD.
Just so we are clear.. 1000cc bmw Superbike is 1k cheaper than this 250w whatever, fml.
How is this possible? All the tech that goes into a motorbike; I think bike companies are having a laugh with their prices.
@@chrisoliver6690 All bike brands these days are trying to get away with ridiculous pricing. I really hope it will die down and go back to 4k high end bikes again.
My gut says I'm wishful thinking.
The world's most expensive dessert is $60,000 and you're point is ?
My point is 17k or 60k is a lot of money.. I didn't think that needed further explanation.
What's your point?
@@francislai5270 Yes, it's a lot of money but, like many things that start out expensive (for a host of reasons, some totally valid and others less so) the technology eventually trickles down to a much more affordable price point. Think televisions, cell phones, computers, etc.
Nice, probably a Super nice, but then again, at that price it should be......
Admit it, this is a very confusing product
Jacky Chng: Go to Specialized website, as well as a plethora of reviews, for easier to understand and a more complete review.
@@lazurm what’s confusing 🤣🤣
Amazing bike but horribly expensive.
why am I watching this
Very expensive
Never ever buy a specialized e-bike. I bougth a Specialized Turbo S, I think in 2015, so it's not that old. Now the the rear drive has a mechanical problem. Reply from the dealer; it's an old bike and most likely there are no more spare parts. Unlikely that it can be repaired. WHAT, this was a 5000 Euro bike. And now it's ready for the scrap yard ?? First of all not very sustainable and very envirionmental unfriendly. If this turns out unrepairable than never ever a specialized again. I also own a Specialized Epic, one of the first carbon fiber bikes. Drive it already for 25 years.
First comment 😍
Who would buy the e-bikes, I don’t get it? 🤔🤔
Atleast not a e-road bike.
Why would you ride a bike, why don't you ride a horse instead ?
Apparantly, about 80 percent of anyone riding a bike?? 😂
I've been riding for years. I will be getting one to enable me to go further and enjoy more riding.
Drew Bkk - well I have for my wife you dick head - when you get arthritis in your hip and basically cannot ride up a hill and even flat is a PAINFUL chore - however S bikes have way overpriced this - i suppose you pull a face at aluminium frames and cable brakes
soon. all that matters are brand, the best tech in it. not the rider ability itself. defeats the purpose of a road bike racing
$13,500 for a 27 pound bike.
when your ignorance puts it like that, its doesn't sound very good but when you think that the bike has a 350 watt hour battery + a 250 watt motor in it, that is stupidly light.
$17,000 USD .. Spesch needs to gtfo
13.5kg version = £7,499
Whats the need for an aero e-bike. If your fast enough to need an aero bike, you don't need an ebike. Nothing against ebikes and think they are great, but the application and marketing crap 👎
Ashley Easton: If making a bicycle aero cuts back on the power needed per unit of speed that is great for battery preservation as well as glycogen preservation. It works all around....
Too bad Trek and Giant have already done it... Better!
Transgender bike
A cheaters bike for Losers
George casals: Think future. In your case, assuming you're not in your late 70's and up, think about your future also. Fact is you still put out the wattage (which this bicycle is designed to match based on what you chose it to do) but go faster. From a future scenario viewpoint, it's quite the opposite of a losing proposition.
If such a bike gets more people riding then it is no bad thing
Wonder if the government might give a subsidy 😝
At 71 the only thing I'm cheating is age. I can go up hills and ride longer and see more. NO loser here.
Gender neutral bikes lol
