    Unlike the other posters here i actually own this bike. When i ride this, i basically put down the same watts like on my other (non motorized) bikes, and burn exactly the same calories. In the flats you get out of assistance speeds within seconds. Up the hills you go pretty fast, which is huge fun. It is a very nice training tool if you want to stay within a certain heart rate. Do i need it ? No, but it is a nice toy to play with.

      Jaawin Black: I own the Creo SL Comp Carbon. I agree though mine is Class 3, assistance to 28 mph (45 kph).

    • @jadawinblack1555
      @jadawinblack1555 Před 4 lety +1

      Here in Germany we get only 25 kp/h assistance models. Under that circumstances, this is the only e bike, which makes sense because it doesn t hold you back in the flats. It is astonishing how you can barely feel the 12 kg. I swapped out the turbo cottons for conti gp5000 TL. I had zero flats on my venge in the whole last season (about 5000km) with them. I also tried some gravel with them on the creo. they survived this quite flawless.

    S works badge is one thing, but the dura ace/xtr choice is over the top. Like anyone really needs to save that 200g on a 12 kg bike ofver ultegra/xt for double the cost. Boost front is probably a great idea though for an e bike.

    This bike is beautiful and I've been tempted (I'm in the market for an E-Road bike due to arthritis in the knees and hips). For me, the non-removable battery and boost spacing are deal breakers. I would want to move wheels from my other bikes, and I would want to remove the battery to charge it in the home or office (I'd be commuting with it). I'd also be a little nervous about the 1st Gen Specialized Motor/Battery. The Trek Domane+ HP 7 has the Bosch Performance Speed system (Class III in the US), has standard hub spacing, a range extender option and removable batteries.

    Hi Guys....Had my 2020 model S-Works Turbo Creo SL since mid December having sold my Colnago & Corsa-01 Steel, Pinarello & Trek Alloy Bikes over a year ago following injury (bursa) that persisted, missing riding sooo much and having rested the injury I saw this bike on a CZcams video and thought...That's It !
    Full Carbon, Dura-Ace, Discounted (2021 model out) and "E-Bike" weighing in at 12.2 Kg and now in my 70's...YES. I rode it as normal over a set route and it felt like my old Specialized Roubaix, I switched on the gizmo and Zooooom ! I Love it ! You still have to work but it rewards your efforts, the handling is precise, the only addition I have made is adding Bar Remotes (easy job) as looking down fiddling with button pressing whilst on a steep climb is not a good idea........Cheers

    Edit: hey Ronnie, I made that comment before finishing the video, but at the end thank you for explaining why the seat post was all the way up. That totally makes sense, I didn’t realize you hadn’t set it up for the customer yet. As always, outstanding video, very interesting bike and I always enjoy your reviews on the higher end stuff.

    Assistance up to 25 km/t. So what's the point? That means the battery is only being used when going uphill. When going flat you have to carry those 6 kg extra compared to a non-electric. So the amount of energy you use is the same.

    On a European market this sort of products do not really offer people who are slower to keep up with faster guys. Might be only an advantage if someone only struggles at the climbs. But if you can keep up with 40kph group chances are you can survive a climb as well.... It's a shame it does not offer pedal assistance as on US market and allows spouses and friends to ride together.

    Di2 is no brainer for this setup.
    If you go for axs,you need to use 10-50 cassette for 1x.
    10-50 is not suited for road riding.
    11-40 its not also,but,better then 10-50.

    • @LarsRR
      @LarsRR Před 4 lety

      Jura Stanić I have a gravel bike (no Electric Motor) and a 44 Chainring in the Front, with 10-50 in the back. I use it throughout the winter with 27.5 Mountainbike tyres, and throughout the summer with fat slicks. It’s not an all out race bike, but climbs beautifully, and is really comfortable to ride on long rides in hilly or mountainous terrain. For me, a pretty fit recreational rider (just over 4w/kg FTP), the gearing is great. For racing I have a different bike.

    • @mikicastan

      10-50 is not great for road riding because of huge jumps betwen gears.

    @roadglide Před 4 lety +2

    Gorgeous bike. Really is. No Ron, people are not going to get real fit to one day keep up with you. They will happily wheel suck and rely on automation. Because, what drives you and many of us is the purity of cycling and actual motivation, the mindset and effort required to get and stay fit. This is what keeps us coming back and why we love to ride. It’s euphoric to achieve something physically you actually worked for. Then you will have the losers posting e-bike assisted efforts on Strava pissing off a lot of hard working athletes. In a way it’s an annoying state of affairs, reducing all we love about the rawness, purity, effort and achievement of cycling for which true fitness is the determiner to automation. I hear and appreciate the small cases being made for it’s evolution, I get it. Just not a fan. Somethings in life are sacred and should never change. 3 triangles, materials of choice, wheels, pedals and gears. No motors. For all else, get a Vespa or a KTM. Just my .2.

    • @lazurm
      @lazurm Před 4 lety +3

      Road Glide: Some older athletes have all the discipline possible but their body is betraying them. This is a great help. You can still have your "purity", just keep it to yourself. If a rider cheats on Strava, well, what's new? Even without the e-bike they've cheated. Try just competing against yourself. You'll be a lot happier.

  • @Fluterra
    @Fluterra Před 4 lety +2

    Specialized is SO FAR AHEAD of the others it’s not even funny. In terms of aero (Venge) and in terms of e-bikes (Creo and Levo SL).

  • @takuan650
    @takuan650 Před 4 lety +2

    As an older but healthy person I despise 'performance' e-bikes as a fitness tool. Good for overweight coffee shop riders who want to look fast but lack discipline. Get a moped! Wouldn't want to be seen dead on a donkey like that (let alone alive).

    • @lazurm
      @lazurm Před 4 lety +1

      Takuan: "Despise" them? Maybe you'll see things differently when your much older. Your depiction of who may use this needs some tweaking as the Tour de France riders used it on their easy days. Look, speed is fun and this bicycle doesn't feel like you're being pushed but, rather, like it's coming from you (and you're still putting out the watts).
