Developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower, and releases for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series on 14th September 2023, we think The Crew Motorfest represents a significant step forward for the gaming series.
By ditching ludicrous scale as a selling point, The Crew Motorfest delivers a polished sense of togetherness that the franchise had yet to achieve.
It features cross-platform online multiplayer, a deluge of licenced vehicles (including bikes, quads, cars, boats and planes) and is set on the open-world island of O‘ahu, Hawaii.

I'm really enjoying it so far. Plenty of content to get stuck into, and I like that buying certain vehicles unlocks new playlists. Hopefully they will add additional islands as DLC.

It’s about time that PlayStation owners have an actual open world game to enjoy besides Need for Speed. A game like this that has a Forza Horizon feel to it which is exclusive to Xbox and PC, is a breath of fresh air and TC Motorfest is needed. The content is there.
one of the best racing games ive ever played and I play just about all of the.. it is simply so much fun and so much to do.
It's my favourite handling model in a modern racing games. Perfect arcade yet high skill cap.

I've played the trial for about an hour and may buy. I wish it was still the U.S. map, which I loved, but this is good so far.
I purchased a pre-order which was a bit of a punt for me. I don’t normally do that after reading remaining of the reviews for Prees acid say and I have not been disappointed everyone in my house. Just love the game this three this year sometime and it is a brilliant game graphically it is mind blowing good. In fact when you go back and pay some other racing games on PS5 they will feel drab and lifeless is actually really is an amazing game. There’s a couple little things that I probably would’ve changed. Overall I give it a solid 9 out of 10. It is brilliant fun is put the effort into racing which is fun.

I still think the map being downsized is a problem. One of the things that made the crew cool was the near endless cruising potential. The scenery doesn’t matter much at 80mph, I just want good roads that never end. With forza they have really deep custom community created races that make the map feel larger. Motorsport doesn’t have the same options. I doubt if it will have the same staying power as the crew 2 for that reason.
I think I disagree here. Sure the original USA map had a large cruising potential, but the sheer amount of reused assets got tiring really quickly. For once I’m stopping and absorbing the sights; it really is a beautiful rendition of Oahu. Also there’s like two islands on the map apart from O’ahu…think maybe they’ll do something with that…?
The most important about open world is that it is open world...

Honestly enjoying it more than Forza. It’s new it’s fresh not a repeat of everything done before hand. That was my issue with Forza Horizon 5 not even bothering to finish it. This game however is great!
The game is great, it has excedes my expetations in many ways! 😁 But I need a ranked pvp sistem with normal races with 8 players like in tc2, not just the grand races
Some say this is even better than Forza Horizon. Is it true?
In some respects it is, in others it's clearly not, and sometimes it does small things Horizon should actually take notice to evolve.
For example, as I've mentioned in another comment, the Rewind function here actually doesn't pause or rewind the timer - time just keeps going while you're rewinding. This means that using Rewind when trying to climb leaderboards will hurt you a lot, as it's essentially giving you a time penalty after you correct the mistake you've made. At the same time, if you're just playing casually and trying to win races by yourself, it functions exactly the same as in any other arcade game and you won't even notice the extra time effect (well, unless someone points it out as I just did).
If you ask me, that's borderline genius design.

This game has no business being as good as it is. Sure, it still has its minor flaws, but it does so many things right. And I think people will see it better once they play more, because there's all sorts of small clever ideas other devs should take notice.
One that I haven't seen any review point out is how exactly the Rewind system works. On the betas and the early access, I found it strange that it requires you to hold the button to flash back, but then I've played the Summit part of it and then it became clear why.
For those who have not played previous The Crew games, Summit is a collection of activities you do to be placed in global leaderboards, which are all based on time. And you can still use Rewind on them... ***but using the function in this game DOESN'T PAUSE OR REWIND THE TIMER***. It just keeps going even while you're rewinding.
This is borderline genius: that means you can still use it to your heart's content in single player, as it will effectively function as in any other arcade/simcade game with the feature, but using it too much in the Summit or when trying to get a good place on leaderboards will hurt you.
And it will hurt you a lot, because when you think about it, it's the same as receiving a big time penalty after correcting the mistake you've made. If you use the Rewind button to correct yourself, you'll probably rewind at least 3-4 seconds, often more depending on how long you take to decide to Rewind. There's games where cutting corners or the pit line don't penalize you with that much time.
Does it handle better than the crew 2 ?
I still can't get over the fact that almost every single element is being copied from Forza Horizon (3), down to the tiniest details like screenshots

I have played a ton of Forza and this is so much different. It is its own game and vastly outplays Forza... especially in "fun" factor.
Let me teach you a little racing game history sonny boy. You see before forza horizon, there was test drive unlimited, they are the ones who started the open world festival racing genre, and they are the same devs who came full circle to create motorfest. So no, horizon was not the first people to do it. (Although i still prefer Horizon 3 👍🏽)

Just played the 5-hour trial and my experience felt more NFS than FH5. The driving still suffers from sluggish handling and uninteresting FFB. I'll give it 6 months and come back.
If you still have it installed I really recommend you try turning off all the assists for handling and set the controls for handling and drifting to precise with 0 linearity. Feels a ton better and more like Forza or other racing games
@@blankusername5914but to me thats exactly the best thing about the game : it doesn't feel like Horizon. In Horizon every car weighs tons, every surface thats not road is just mud physics, so many cars feel the same. Yes its pretty but you're just having the same feel all the time
@@terencecaron2922 that's fair, yeah I still think the setting has some differences it just has a satisfying challenge and is slightly sim like imo (like a mix of Forza and old NFS). I think it helps the uniqueness of vehicles, at least with everything I've tried they feel more unlocked than locking up with the expert handling on wet roads or being too gripped to the road with the usual handling
Like trucks still turn slower with weight and the drifts and traction still change based on the cars/vehicles

This is the Gameloft version of Forza Horizon lol. Clones can be fun but it doesn't have the secret sauce. The handling and physics still sucks which is the most important thing.
Car handling is crap and boring. People praising it are not qualified to review racing games ever again.
Typical console game. Shallow, with unreadable menu, full of microtransactions, and silly activities. For children of men-childs. Sim racers, or pc games - STAY AWAY!

One thing i dont understand is why i cant use any of my cars in the playlists.. like even ones where you have to buy a specific car, you buy the car start the playlist with the required car and it puts you in a loaner car anyway. And why allow me to import 300 cars from crew 2 if i cant use any of the damn things.
Also you mentioned the cars all handling how they should.. nah, not even close. The forced physics in drift events is daft and wasn't an enjoyable part of other games let alone this one. All the cars in a class all handle the same. A Lamborghini handles the exact same as a audi r8, a new Camaro handles the same as an old Mustang. Makes zero sense.

Something that this review missed is that once you complete a playlist, you unlock all the events for replay with custom configurations. Part of that is running the event in any car you want. The event will put you against AI cars in the same class and performance range as the car you select. You can even choose the weather, time of day, and a number of modifiers for more challenge or bonuses.
Alongside the basic replay configuration, there is also another version of each unlocked event that is re-themed to match the week's Main Stage theme. You have to pick from your collection cars that match the theme and complete the thematically modified event in it.
For example the launch week theme is American Pop Culture. So, if you do replay an event in the "Main Stage" configuration, you would pick a Delorian (Back to the Future) or a Mustang Boss 429(John Wick 1) and receive bonus rewards compared to the regular event.
