    A thumbs-up would help me out a lot! Also, subscribe if the video was helpful.
    If you have any questions about the installation process, I'd be happy to answer them in the comment section.
    In this video I go over the process of cleaning and repairing a sun-damaged dashboard using a product designed to fix broken, cracked, and melting dashboards like mine. In my experience this is the cheapest and most efficient way to repair a dashboard without spending a fortune on a brand new dash. SPOILER: This product is highly effective for the price and I've received many compliments from other Lexus drivers when they see the results from StickyDashFix.

    I just used this today on my '07 Camry. My kit must be a version 2.5 or something because it came with a small container of dash filler. After using it, I must say that I am overall happy with the results. The dash looks dramatically better than it did and it is no longer sticky. However, I have some suggestions for those of you considering applying this product.
    First, when you go to clean the dashboard don't be afraid to apply a generous amount cleaner. Also be sure to let it penetrate (at least 5 mins) before wiping in one direction. You may need to repeat this process a few times because you want the dash as clean as you can get it for the coating to adhere optimally.
    Second, while the provided applicators work well to get close to the windshield, I found that a foam 4in roller (you can find them in any paint department) works better to cover the majority of the dash. It also leaves less streaking and provides a much more uniform application.
    Third, be sure to allot plenty of time to do this process. It took me about 3 hours to put two applications because I wanted to be sure I was giving adequate dry time between coats and not get the product all over any unintended surfaces.
    Anyway, that's my two cents. I hope it helps and props and thank you to the creator of this video.

      @@trdrollin that's awesome. I might have to try this. My doors aren't bad and my dash isn't horrible yet, but there's a few small spots where you can see some melting up between the corner of the windshield and dash. Just looks like a small wet spot. I just hope it would match the doors, with the correct VIN.

      @@Kyntheria Does this process give permanent protection against cracking?

    • @Kyntheria
      @Kyntheria Před 2 lety

      @@henry222ist depends on how damaged your dash is, plus the weather where you are at. This will definitely protect the materials under it.
      As for cracks themselves, I have used black Sugru to fill in cracks, but you need practice with it, as it's easy to make the repair noticeable. I also have used hot glue to make a texture for blending the Sugru into my dash. It's a much more detailed process than what I have described. As for the Sticky Dash Fix, I haven't bought it yet, but I might give it a go.
      As for avoiding cracks, especially around the vents, don't have the heater on a high temperature in the winter. Have a comfortable temperature, of course. Having too much of a variation in temperatures will cause the dash to expand and contract. You might already know that.

    Since this video is the only thing in the “Reviews” section of the Sticky Dash Fix website (red flag), I’ll just leave my experience with the product here. My dashboard was in rough shape. Probably worse than most. So I applied several coats, following the instructions exactly. The good: It addressed the stickiness and the glare on the windshield (albeit only for 1-2 months before the problem returned). The bad: It looks like trash. Very streaky and noticeable. And the surface cleaner did not do its job at all. The coating still trapped debris under it. And in the most severe spots, the coating shrunk and cracked during drying, no matter how many coats I applied. I’m pretty sure this is because it was 80+°F in the garage I was in. Which was the best I could do. The glare was getting really bad so I couldn’t just wait for the weather to cool down to apply the coating. I figured that a product developed in Australia would be able to handle moderate heat.
    *TL;DR:* If your sticky dash problem is severe or widespread, know that this product is unlikely to leave your dashboard in presentable condition. It could be worth getting just as a way to keep your dashboard from sticking to a dash cover, though I can’t confirm it would succeed at that task either.
    2/5 stars.

    • @vctris
      @vctris Před 2 lety +1

      It's like spray painting, it requires a lot of prep and the right mindset, patience and tools. I used a foam roller instead of the foam brushes included in the kit and it worked really well. I dedicated about three hours to the job though. I'd give the product 5/5 stars. Adding a foam roller to the kit is unnecessary as they're readily available at hardware stores and it would make the kit more bulky, increasing the price of the product itself and the price of postage. This product works really, really well.

    • @SergeRustic
      @SergeRustic Před 7 měsíci

      Agreed from what vctris said. Its all about prep work, you can't just expect to slap on a product and expect perfect results when you don't take the time to do it right. Sorry, but the streaks are from your application and lack of due diligence as many have recommended the foam roller and taking your time.

    • @Kyntheria
      @Kyntheria Před 2 lety +1

      How much force do you think a thin layer of paint will hold? An airbag literally throws you into your seat, so a tiny bit of paint is not going to affect it at all. The company has to give that warning because of liability, even if it has zero impact on airbag safety.

    • @SergeRustic
      @SergeRustic Před 7 měsíci +1

      This is such a thin layer of paint its obviously not going to be an issue, as Kyntheria said they just have to put that there for their own protection.
