Japan seems to have always been a brutal place with complicated customs leading to exploitation of specially vulnerable groups. Both Meshida and Suzuki are pretty fun comedians and the historical explanations are enriching. It is as Suszuki San says: a small world after all... and the same practices of slavery and dominance are in place in every culture that we learn about..
These guys are really unique on YT. Their way of speaking English is 100% spot on correct for most Japanese and they have that classic 'poker face' style of presentation. It is really funny . Almost like 'manzai'. Not easy to do in another language. Congratulations !

1. Real interesting information, Yūkaku (遊廓), Yoshiwara (吉原), Oiran (花魁).
2. Useful historic tips, 1603, Tokugawa era, the Japanese Capital moved from Kyoto to Edo (now Tokyo!).
3. Super funny stuff, the Meshida/Suzuki is the perfect "Manzai", a kind of Japanese Abbott & Costello.

This is genuinely fascinating. The recently ended Wano mega arc on one piece introduced me and many others to the concept of oiran. It’s good to see that Oda-san did his research and based his quirky version of feudal Japan off real things rather than ideas he just pulled out his ass.
As for the real oiran and yujo the bit that got my attention was the part about their clientele trying to engage them on an intellectual and cultural level......they are truly men of culture

Meshida-San and Suzuki-San have a comically enriched presence, those pictures of Orian take me to a special place where the protocol of engagement opens up a totally different perception of Edo-period Japan. Suzuki-San gives such a nerdy example but his appearance is amusing all by itself. I love how the duo speaks English as well as their native tongue Japanese. All in all Hentai Sensai always has juicy content so Bonsai!
