A very interesting insight into Japanese politics. Here in Spain, our government wants to regulate prostitution, but luckily for us, they are top clients who spent thousands of dollars from public funds "researching" brothels.

Doing comedy in a language which is not your mother-tongue, for an audience which does not share your native culture, is super challenging. But you guys do it so well ! Furthermore, in addition to being funny, your videos are high quality edutainment: You educate about aspects of Japanese society which aren't conveyed through mainstream channels. And thanks a lot for teaching me the word クソフェミ "kusofemi". We have lots of those here in Norway - but we don't have a word for it, so I will start using the Japanese word. Again, with laws like this, they always claim to do something good (helping women, protecting the environment, equality, etc.), and put a lot of irrelevant things into it, the only result come out of it is usually government gets more power, and the problem they claim to solve is not solved at all.

There's a really good example of that happening here in america. Back in the early 90s the feminists argued that women needed special treatment in education to close an education gap which was already closed by that point. So, an entire generation of girls were given preferential treatment to the best education and as a consequence today the majority of University students are women. During that time there were many attempts from male students to call out the sexism for what it was and they were often silenced, but today now that we know better it's not really easy to reverse course. The problems that were created will likely take decades more to solve.
And even more classic example would be the prohibition of alcohol. To this day the demand for alcohol remains higher than it was before prohibition. Making something illegal pushes it Underground and makes it more accepted by the general population. If all pornography got pushed underground good luck regulating anything at all.

So according to this logic: if a doctor gets a job he/she should not work for the first month, and once he/she starts to work, he/she should not take care of patients for another 4 months ..... This law is ridiculous.....
If you sign a work-contract in any other job, that means that you have already thought thoroughly about working for that employer. And if somebody was "forced" to sign the contract, they won't care about the 1 month or 4 months rule anyways.... they'll just forge the papers that the employers sign to be dated back 5 months so that they can start making movies right away.....

It's because the mission statement of feminism is to promote equal rights for women. Specifically. They have no interest in giving men rights that women have more of because that wouldn't benefit women.
Then again, laws like this are more likely to hurt women so it definitely benefits men to be excluded from laws like this. Men don't have to wait to work, men don't have to worry about being forced to contract with a company known to abuse them, etc. Only women are going to be hurt by this law which is so ironic because it means the feminists are now hurting their own interests.

Does this law still apply if Japanese AV companies fly their actresses and crew to say Thailand and shoot the JAV there? Also there's nothing stopping the JAV companies from just moving into Doujin AV websites and selling their stuff there through proxies instead. Given the cost of production, the new law forgets that it isn't just the entertainers in the videos--it's the production staff too. The end result is that people relying on this work--whether as caterers, assistants, editors, camera crew, and so on--will lose income. Puritanical values and 4th wave feminism has no love for the working class, and is basically one big circle jerk that eliminates any facts that would contradict its paradigm. This is why examples like this law being passed without actually consulting the industry itself shows how they really don't care who gets screwed over for their agenda--and this isn't even considering how this also affects the consumers (like me!).

It would be really bad if more actresses ending up flooding to the Doujin AV where the true abuse and exploitation would occur. My point is that these mature ladies didn't debut at 30 most of the time. You cannot definitely say that their start wasnt exploitation when they were very young.
The law isn't fluid but let's not pretend that MILF equates to good.
I recommend that you watch The Naked Director.
Actresses always have positive things to say until they retire.
To me the biggest issue isn't any of this. It is the fact that retired performers cannot have regular jobs or live normal lives.

@@joelgray4403 I don't disagree with you, it's always a tiny minority ruining things for everyone, it's a pity that the japanese government is choosing the sledgehammer response to the problem.
This is going to have so many negative effects, it will probably benefit the doujin companies while hurting the legit companies. Scripted drama films will suffer, after all why put a budget into a film that could get nixed at a moments notice? There will probably be an increase in cheap gonzo movies unfortunately.
The big exclusive actresses like Mikami Yua will be ok but this law will be awful for the "planning girls", because it will make group and harem films untenable.

Definitely way too strict. I think the laws should only apply to people new to the industry.
1 month of thinking time for your very first contract is a good idea, because undoubtedly companies really pressure you to signing stuff. And I think 1 month before releasing it (for first time as well) is also good, and maybe a requirement that the actress/actor is allowed to view the video before release too.
I don't think an actress/actor should be able to stop distribution (since it's not really their property anymore), and it's already on the internet, which only hurts the company.

In my opinion, the whole "I REGRET WHAT I DID" part should be scrapped (its too risky for businesses), and the replaced with far better pre-contract information similar to how here in Canada a "Health and safety course" is required prior to work on construction sites. Our course is close to 10 hours, covering most of the ways you can get maimed or killed.
      - So likewise, a pre-contract information course should be mandatory for all AV actresses and actress, informing them all the ways their lives could change, with real life examples, and also offering information into current career market data. A young woman shouldn't be lulled into AV under the pretense of making tens of thousands if a few videos in, she's likely to stop and have her life screwed up for it.
This would have the benefit of offering higher job security for better known AV workers by diminishing the volume of "dumb" newcomers.
