The Procedure shown is typical in most cases on Kia and Hyundai Vehicles.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Read
1.Always be sure to keep your vehicle in park while replacing this component. This ensures proper placement of the shift cable and that the vehicle will not roll away.

My 2011 Sorento was shifting hard , especially uphill, usually at 60-65 , but at 40-50 on steep hills, followed your video and changed this out, fixed it, smooth as silk. Thank you !

The video is quite clear and very helpful, however there are some differences on the Santa Fe. FIrst of all the positive batter cable is attached and routed both behind the battery tray and also along the left side. Another single wire plug is attached to the right side needing to be unclipped. I also had to use a claw hammer claw to pry the shift linkage from the switch after soaking over night with penetrating oil. I also found it much easier to remove the switch from the shaft before disconnecting the connector. It was much easier that way.

Nice video. The replacement was very easy with this help video. I did try this with a new switch part but there was no change in my issue afterwards. I can see the P, R, N, D when shifting thru gears, its starts as normal in park or neutral, but when I leave it in park and turn the 2016 sorento off, there is still a dash display to put the car into park, but I assure you, it is and the locks pop open and it doesn't roll. The radio also stays on 24/7 right now and there is an issue with key not being detected but I have new batteries in the FOB. There is a continuous beep 10 seconds or so when I shut the door to walk away with the FOB. No scan error codes. I'm baffled.

My new one didn't line up with the bolt holes and the middle shifting portion. I actually just turned and it clicked twice until it lined back up where it was supposed to yo bolt down properly. I'm hoping I didn't mess up the gears since I really do not know what else to do and am just bolting back together hopefully everything will be back to normal again or else gotta take it back apart. This is the only part I think was left out that may should have been explained a little otherwise a decent video.

Hi there, firstly thanks for the video, it was very interesting. I have a 2011 Kia Sorento 3.5 V6 Auto and we are getting a P0880 code - TCM Failure - The vehicle will reverse and when in drive it is stuck in 4th gear. Kia dealership says it could be the clutches that has burnt. Could this be the problem in my case as well? TIA

Hi JL, would this video apply to my santa Fe 2010 diesel 2.2 ? I recently got P0705 code (Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit PRNDL input). I couldn't start the car while the battery was check ok. It was intermitternt for the last 12 months. I just became more obvious. This morning, I have to road side assist to help to sort this problem out. The guy just shift the gear from P to D and then back to P. The car start again. So it seems obvious that the safety inhibitor switch may be failing, but not completely. Any suggestion? I like your video, it is life saving~
