    Proud of you man, i thought for sure you'd be on the same train of returning the 16 again for the 14. A new leaf has been turned as you got it right once you force yourself to use the 16 form factor in daily use and finally get over the true size and weight you become one with the system and it cannot be beat. It took me many returned machines since the original m1 14" and this is the first year i didnt return the 16 because its god tier it just doesn't get better and the size and weight can be overlooked. They are irrelevant to the productivity you can achieve while fully immersed with the 16.

    I have an M1 Max with 64 GB for music production. I went with more RAM in case I would later want to create orchestral compositions with lots of tracks and huge sample libraries. But if you are not planning to produce this type of music, CPU performance may be a more important consideration.
    M1 and M2 Max both have 8 performance cores, but M2 has 4 efficiency cores vs 2 for the M1. This, and the increased single-core performance may make the M2 able to handle more tracks with CPU-intensive effects (such as reverbs) and virtual instruments (especially complex synthesizers). The GPU cores don't matter much unless you also produce videos, though some music software makers are starting to work on using these wasted cores for audio processing. Maybe someday the neural engine cores can be used for upcoming AI features in audio software.
    An important factor for audio software performance is recording latency, where setting your DAW to a lower buffer size works the CPU harder, but reduces the annoying delay between recorded input, such as vocals or played instruments and the output you are listening to, such as backing tracks. If your CPU can't keep up, you get pops and clicks. There are workarounds for this, such as increasing the buffer size when you aren't recording, and "freezing" tracks with their effects, but the more processing power you have, the less you need to deal with such hassles.

    I have zero need for the power of this PC, but I am obsessed with wanting it. I have a M1 Air that works just fine for my use. LOL. I just want a super nice PC that will last years that I don't ever have to worry about outgrowing. I do basic blender, basic video stuff, and use it a ton for reading, research, writing, and entertainment. Would be nice to be able to do a bit of gaming on it...I'd play LOL and some WOW as well, probably. I have a 13 inch m1 Air right now and it works, but its so and its so tiny, I am drooling over the idea of a 16 inch screen. Was gonna go for the smaller base M3 Max, but I've seen a lot of people complain about the temps and fan sounds in the base one, which don't happen in the bigger one due to a bigger chassis, so that bumped me up to wanting the 40 core in the 16 inch. I have tried to talk myself out of buying the M3 Max for like four months. It's not working and I'm very close to just going out and buying the stupid thing to stop the torture. It's NOT helping to see you rave about how much you love it. Send help.

    im using m1 imac with 16gb ram and within half year i hit the limit it has to offer well it is still 3-4 year old after all but i wanted a desktop setup, now i want to go into macbook pro setup since it has the more value and power for the price and it also has more options, right now im considering a 14.2 macbook pro base or upg chip and ram by selling imac, i dont think a 16.2 will fit on my desk even if i know it is worth it im not 100% sure but i dont like things sticking out and if the laptop is too big it will be on the corner of the desk, ideally i want to get max chip but i feel like im being pushed to make the call and move on, i also do not know how many gpu cores i need, for ram i know i need atleast 36gb ram since i use by desktop 16gb im not even abusing my imac btw it can run most things i throw at it but also struggles to do many basic things because it is so loaded and lacks power to do so, im also a gamer during my free time, unless i watch netflix i play games, right now my list is dying light, stacraft, warcraft, hades, tomb raider, and i intend to buy crossover since it can run games on steam and it works well, idk how many of them since red alert 2 failed to do so or maybe i lack power to run it but ideally i want to run dying light 2 atleast well only one way to know, i buy game and try.

    The reason the M1 worked so well was it was based on A series SOC's installed on iPhones over the years. Know that Apple had Mac's with A series/M prototypes being used well before the M1 first came out. This is why this normal had no hesitation in purchasing the very first M1 series MacBook Air.
    For content creators I feel you should max out the latest MacBook Pro M series Pro or MAX that best fits you needs over the next few years. Then use the best external monitor and other accessories that meets your needs.
    I know for this normal to replace my iMac 27-inch 5K Late 2014 almost came down to flip of a coin M1 Mac mini, or M1 MacBook Air back in March 2022. Thing is with the M1 MacBook Air, and an external monitor something like the Studio Monitor I can set these up in a two screen configuration if I want to. Also the M1 MacBook Air gives me the option to take it with me, and use remotely if I have the need as I have no other laptop.

    Keyboard greasy? A very small amount of Dr Bronner's liquid Castile soap, diluted 1:20 with distilled water (or more so if you use their unscented Sal Suds variety), on a separate clean microfiber cloth (again, not soaked, just mildly damp), followed by the other clean-clean damp cloth, and it should be good. If they can get more titles they will get gamers to not necessarily buy a $4k-$5k mac but to dip their toes in on a very capable $2k Mac.

    I swear your graphs are more vague than Apple's. Why show no actual figures and how is the M3 Max in your graph at 6:07 saying 54% increase ? Judging by the graph, shouldn't it be nearer 100% ? What am I missing?

    What the fuck does 40 core gpu even mean. Compare it to AmD or NVIDIA with thousands of cores why does everyone make a big deal over 40 core gpu. It literally means nothing, teraflops that’s something you can measure.

    • @PKperformanceEU
      @PKperformanceEU Před 6 měsíci

      Tflops doesnt mean shit, you need LINALG, CALCULUS, DISCRETE MATH, ABSTRACT ALGEBRA and a lot more math topics i know nothing about yet. m3max CPU smokes even 14900K's by big margine in scientific use and the GPU alotugh less powerful than a 4090, still very relevant for high lvl computation

    • @dbbbbbbb1952
      @dbbbbbbb1952 Před 6 měsíci

      @@PKperformanceEU lol I have an m1 ultra I’m very happy with it it’s a fantastic machine and I love the power efficiency however let’s not kid ourselves here. The 14900k is faster but it’s also a radiator. That’s not the problem, the m3 and m3 Max are more than good enough. However on the GPU side they traded ram/vram given their unified architecture for performance. The 4090 does llm inference between 4 to 10 times faster. It doesn’t even compare. My problem with this video is that he says “a whopping 40 cores” when he doesn’t have a fucking clue what that means.

    On the lack of noticeable performance difference between M1 and M3, I'm currently using a desktop with a 3rd generation, high-end i7 that still pulls it's weight. If I were to put a PCIe ssd in my machine you probably couldn't tell that the motherboard was from 2011 or the cpu from 2013 in most daily tasks. I imagine many older macs would be that way too, if Apple and software devs didn't cut support for them.

      BS at its core. I use a 13900h laptop that pulls 140w short term and 110w long term on the cpu alone and a lot of times feels slow. Not so long ago i had my 16inch m1max 10/32 1tb and i still cry inside from selling it and basically downgrading to a seriously inferior archichtecture. I wanted an m2max but windows laptop was like 2500 instead of 3000 and fell for the trap. Anything less than 11th gen is useless garbage, e waste
