I played all final fantasy hgames even tactics and online(not one and two) and i really liked the spectacle and bosses of 16, the gameplay story,quests and characters were some of the worst in the series unfortunately. so i also feel its a mid game
@@VSNjaco the thing I hate about FF is when I start the game there’s like 50 game mechanics and menus introduced and I can’t be bothered with it.
@@wasteman3259 they take some time to get into and games like ff8,14 and so om are especially confusing for newcomers. Its a genre thats not for everyone. Personally i love it, just not ff16(boss fights were goated though)

FF16 is far from a perfect game, but the sheer scale and spectacle of the fights will always be some of my favorite moments in gaming. Sucks that it didn't even get a nomination for Game of the Year this year.
It got nominated for best narrative and best score at the very least, I'm happy about that.

@@yannispirou101 Funny, I wish XVI was more like Automata, a game that perfectly balances character action and RPG. Instead, it’s purely character action, and the RPG elements barely matter, and even as far as character action games go I think it pales in comparison to most Devil May Crys, Bayonettas, Nier Automata, etc. especially due to the game being too easy. 2023 was too stacked and I’m not shocked it didn’t get a GOTY. Baldur’s Gate 3 was my GOTY as it respects its RPG roots,, hell even Honkai Star Rail was a breath of fresh air after XVI felt almost ashamed to be part of a RPG series. I’d only give XVI a nomination for music, and even then BG 3, Alan Wake 2, and Hi Fi Rush above it. Voice acting, Cid should have been the nomination, Clive was good but not best of the year. Not narrative, especially since Clive’s story is mostly just Velvet’s from Tales of Berseria but not as good and the world building was so roughly handled.
because it doesn't deserve to be GOTY it's that simple. It doesnt even have multiple party members with their own stories to tell. On that part alone it fails to be a JRPG. It should have been called FF EIKONS - a boss fight simulator.
I honestly think the ending is genius tbh and it fits Final Fantasy in its bitter sweet endings so that really wasn't a surprise. The game has some design problems but it also has some of the highest highs in a game ive ever played and for that it has my respect.
Titan and Bahamut were both incredible fights, absolutely peak material for different reasons and either could probably be their own climax fights for the whole game. Odin and Ultima feel kinda toke by that point, like the game is just obligated to hit those fights, though the lead up to Ultima is also cool as shit.
Ultima fight is the best fight mechanicly speaking, but climatic is bahamut, specially when he uses megaflare (nostalgic).
why is a 2-second gay kiss "so sudden" (2/3 of the way into the game btw) when the demo literally has two fairly explicit scenes of two couples and nobody bats an eye?

FF16 is the type of game when you do the titan fight and the bahamut fight you're like "well, I know the final boss is not going to be as epic as those ones but i'm gonna finish it anyway" (the final boss is still really good tho)
I honestly kinda prefer the final boss over the Titan boss.
the more i get into (or fall out of) media that takes a lengthy time to appreciate, the more i find im willing to take that dive. i understand the people who simply dont have the time to consume a lot of media and want to get hooked quickly, but i dont really view it as a waste of time if i drop something i sank 100 hours into - i got to understand better what i liked and didnt like and it helps me get into things i otherwise wouldnt have.
As someone who got into the series few years ago and went back to play many of the older games, 16 is one of my favs, alongside 9.
7 Remake has the potential to by my fav though, just waiting to see how good Rebirth is gonna be.

FF16 is my personal game of the year and my third favorite FF of all time. Behind FFs 6 and 14.
Garnt finishing FF16 and Tales of Arise but not VII Remake and Tales of Berseria tells me he is someone who values gameplay over story.

The problem I find with 16 its that it has a lot of hits and misses, where it just makes it feel for me disappointing, because when its awesome its over the top awesome but then it just goes down and stays down for a long ass time.
I have friends who typically don't finish games either. As someone whose major motivation is usually the story, I have to see that through to its culmination unless the game is really terrible - I enjoy that more than mastering the game mechanics. Totally happy to play in easy mode for the same reason.
For me the problem with FF16 was that you can finish doing a epic kaiju battle, then for the next hour you’re doing some fetch quest for Mid as a main story mission. The game has the highest of highs but then follows with the lowest of lows. If the fighting wasn’t what it was I would’ve dropped it.

Jojo is like a relationship that starts off a bit rocky then gets good then plateaus until you discover that spark again and somewhere between part 4-5 you get married and part 6 is the kinky years cuz that’s when things get really weird in a good way
I remember when I was watching part 3 of JoJo, and when I got to like the 20th episode I was like "oookay Dio is gonna show up any minute now!" And then I finished the 24th episode and was extremely confused for like 30 minutes, before I discovered there was a second cour of another 24 episodes. That was the first time I considered dropping JoJo entirely.

For me, XVI was best singel-player FF since the PS1 era. If you include all mainline games then it was the best since Shadowbringers.

Sure it’s not quite the perfect game but, as it was my most anticipated game of the year, it delivered on many accounts for me. It was truly a gaming experience. Clive is easily one of my favorite FF protagonists, right next to Cloud.
That being said, I do not agree with their takes on some characters. In regards to Dion, I thought the handling of his queerness was done just fine. Also, he didn’t straight up make out with his boyfriend. It was just a kiss. Also, the scene between Clive and Jill on the beach is literally pure romance as they confess their love for one another. The only reason why they were naked was due to their clothes being soaked and needed to dry off. 🤦🏾♀️ Geez the guys have been saying some real shits takes lately that it’s not even funny.
In my case, ff16 was my first ff game and i absolutely loved it, especially the music. I absolutely loved it and boss fights were just spectacular. The ending was also pretty nice, overall i really enjoyed the game.
thats expected because it's your "first" FF game. Wait until FF9 FF6 FF10 get their own remakes. 👍👍👍
Honestly thought it was an incredible game. Music, characters, gameplay, and of course the fights were incredible! I was kinda surprised when they said it peaked at Bahamut because i thought the buildup and moments afterwards were really well done. It does have its flaws amd im sure there are some aspects from them i could understand but just being seen as a "alright" game especially compared to other FF ones is surprising

Final Fantasy games I completed are 1, 4, 6, 7, and 15. I played a lot of 5, 8 and 10-2, but didn't complete them.
I feel like FF is a franchise that really maps out some things about your gaming tastes, if you've played enough of them.
For 8, the Rinoa theory makes the story way better

I think it's really good. Sure, some parts like some of the side missions are boring but overall it drives the with the story. It was pretty good. A nice ending. Good story, good cinematic, good fighting scenes, where all of their efforts weren't in vain. So yeah its worth the 70 bucks
The irony of Gigguk giving shit to Joey for not finishing Attack on Titan, but never finishing it, and Garnt hasn’t finished a Final Fantasy game is just hilarious. Seriously, some of the best moments of Final Fantasy games come from the ending of the series like FFIV going to the final dungeon which is a spoiler or the craziness of the original Final Fantasy’s final act. My guess for FFXVI is that the combat system is more DMC, which is more based on replayable games so are much shorter, and it doesn’t work with something very long like Final Fantasy.

The Bahamut fight is indeed really peak. FF16 is an amazing game (underrated imo) and it doesn’t deserve the hate. It’s a great game, not a masterpiece, but it would indeed be a game I would recommend everyone to play.
The best climax was fighting bahamut, after that it doesn't go there anymore

How Garnt was able to finish FF 16 but not 7 Remake when it's vastly the superior FF game in every way is beyond me. Not a 16 hater btw. It's still my game of the year. I just like 7 Remake more.

Jojo part 1 is mid but its literally 9 eps, thats 3 hours of your time for a series that afterwards is consistently peak, you cant compare it to a jrpg that takes 20 hours to get good. Wasnt aware people disliked part 3 so much.
I feel like the people who like parts 4-6 a lot, tend not to like parts 1-3 and vice versa. I personally enjoy all the parts but to each their own.
to be fair the general sentiment of the FF community seems to be that 16 is good but not that great.
it's honestly a weird case, cuz some people think it's one of the best, others think it's good but not one of the best, and others think it's not a real FF game and blah blah blah.
Tbf, when it comes to such a experimental franchise, it's gonna be hard to please everyone in the fanbase. I played XVI and I really enjoyed it, but I can understand why other FF fans might not be into it as much
@@MrGreenJester yea, and XVI in particular is a very experimental FF game on its own, like XII for example, both diverged from the series a lot and they're bound to be divisive.

While each game has elements that connects them together, they each feel like their own unique experience, while also not feeling totally out of place. Like, whenever someone says that FFXVI isn't a FF game just because of the action combat, that's something I completely disagree with
@@MrGreenJester I’m fine with each game being experimental, but the RPG elements should always be relevant. Removing party member control options customization, elemental weaknesses/resistances being removed as well as status conditions, making levels and weapon upgrades barely matter, exploration is pointless in fields as you get overfed crafting materials, dungeons are hallways, and the game locks the one mildly challenging difficulty mode behind New Game +, this didn’t feel experimental, this felt like the reception of 13 and 15 made them panic and they streamlined the game super hard to appeal to as casual an audience as possible.

FF16 has cool fights but that's it. It's pretty bland mixture of Devil May Cry and Dark Souls. It's a fantasy action game, not even a jrpg. Graphically it's sometimes amazingly bad even when I compare it with FF15. The world is so boring, FF games always, at least from FF6, had a unique worlds blending fantasy, fairy tale with medieval themes and futuristic designs. FF16 doesn't have that. You could always differentiate FF game from all the others, but this time it's only another medieval-themed action kinda-rpg. The story is meh, characters are meh, music is all right, but all of this is nowhere near the magic of FF I remeber when playing FFX. FF15 and FF13 even were much better. I hope they will come up with something more interesitng in FF17, if not that series will dissapear among other better and similar button smashers.

Nope! It grabbed me immediately with the intense as hell intro.
But maybe it just wasn’t your thing, or maybe the timing was bad. It doesn’t have to be any deeper than that I think.
Would it be safe to say that Garnt has completely exhausted himself with Japanese storytelling that anything going forward just starts off boring as his standard?
Look, I'm sorry but FFXVI is not an RPG. It's about as much of an RPG as Devil May Cry or Revengeance.
