The luxury ball is the rarest Pokéball in generation 3 as it only appears in a few places. Despite it's rarity, the luxury ball doesn't do much as it's only purpose is to up the friendship of the Pokémon it captures, which is not a massive benefit by any means.
To make matters worse, the luxury ball is no more likely to successfully capture a Pokémon than a standard Pokéball, making it extremely likely to just break and do nothing even after all the effort you'll have to go through to get it.
Rather than complain about this insanity, I have decided to embrace it. I have come up with a challenge to use the luxury ball to capture one of Pokémon Emerald's most powerful Pokémon.

Never realized Luxury Balls are that rare in Gen 3, and I've played those games so much. Don't think I've ever actually used the one I've probably gotten in them either
These games are so dense with their details! That's why I like making videos talking about obscure things. I'm glad you've learned something new about the franchise today! I'd recommend saving before trying to use your one luxury ball if you ever want to use it in Emerald. The Pokémon you use it on will feel super special!
As someone who farmed, and I am not kidding, 105 luxary balls for my ribbon master shiny rayquaza, yes, it is nightmarish.
Have you done the challenge? If so, you are a legend!
@@TheGameCubicleYes. I farmed the luxury balls months ago to get the shiny Rayquaza, then went through the process of getting every ribbon possible in Rayquaza, which included doing every content in every game they are available in. Very tedious, but ultimately worth it.
I thought about making a video about it, but a lot of the records I took are either really bad webcam footage, since my gameboy player just would not cooperate with my capture card, or screenshots documenting certain road-marks in the process. So, I would probably have to replicate the process via emulators to actual have footage at all for it.
@@blahara Awesome! 🎉
What catching method did you use for Rayquaza?
Tried the same for mewtwo but failed 😢
@@ron4tron I looked at its encounter moveset and built a specialized team to optimize the amount of turns I could throw luxary balls before it started struggling. I originally was going to use Breloom to Spore it to sleep, but I didn't want to have to keep using Spore and maintaining sleep the whole time, as well as it not being able to survive a hit fro mRayquaza when it wakes up, so I went with Banette for Thunder Wave and Skill Swap(To disable its ability to Rest), Shedinja for False Swipe, and Spite to remove all the Rest PP, Slowking for Skill Swap again( once its heath was low enough, I would switch to Slowking to Skill Swap on Own Tempo, making Rayquaza immune to confusion, so it could spam outrage as much as possible without getting confused. Since outrage only uses PP on the first turn it is used, that extends the amount of luxary balls I could throw), and finally Registeel, who resists Normal, Flying and Dragon and has the defensive stats to tank every hit Rayquaza gives while I throw luxary balls.
You know, maybe I will make a video about.
I forgot about the luxury ball in emerald. But you could also use the Battle Tower cloning glitch to farm luxury balls outside of the traditional ways to get them.
Personally speaking I'd also add moves that reduce the attack stat.
Maybe growl or whatever.
Drop rayqauza's attack and sp attack so it hits even less.
That will also benefit as the recoil should also be reduced.
Perhaps you can even use trick to make rayquaza hold a leftovers if your being cheeky so it that it doesn't get a chance to ko itself
That's precisely what I did hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
@@rushalias8511somebody else also suggested skill swapping own tempo to prevent confusion entirely, which does a better job than this at the cost of a pokemon slot that can't take attacks while you chuck balls
@@leftiealex3632 if you lower it's attacking stats enough and possible even accuracy so that the attacks miss entirely then it should take most attack just fine if it hit. Obviously critical hits bypass stat drops but so you are still not invincible but you don't need to survive forever just two turns to give Rayquaza leftovers.
In order to increase your chances of catching Rayquaza, you can use a Grumpig or Spinda with Skill Swap to give Rayquaza Own Tempo. That way you don't have to worry about confusion from Outrage and you can bring it down to 1 HP.
That is a brilliant strategy!
I actually think this strat might be necessary for your best odds.
My concern about Yawn Snorlax would be Rayquaza waking up and using Outrage. You use Yawn as Rayquaza’s locked into Outrage, and may confuse itself. The 3rd turn risks a confusion hit, at that point.
At the very least, Own Tempo makes this a lot safer.
@@ron4tron In my testing, I saw that even though Yawn takes a turn to take effect it won't have Ray get confused by Outrage because falling asleep ends Outrage. However, you probably will have to switch to another Snorlax at some point when you run out of Yawn PP which leads to the possibility of Ray using Outrage on the new Snorlax which would make it use a second Outrage possibly afflicting confusion. It's unlikely and Ray probably won't knock itself out getting confused once especially because it knows rest.
While that's true, does that involve you having to predict the wake-up with Yawn? I could just be missing something, and if so, I apologise. But I'm thinking:
Ball, Rayquaza wakes up & Outrages > Rayquaza uses 2nd Outrage, and is now confused. Snorlax Yawns > Rayquaza hits itself in confusion. Falls asleep on this turn.
It may just be less likely of a scenario to be concerned about, considering Ray has to select Outrage on the turn it wakes up, get a 2-turn confusion and also hit itself. But still, I could also be missing something there.
Just that I suppose it's another factor to think about. Own Tempo + backup Yawn could be safest.
Leppa Berry w/ Trick work to help mitigate stress of PP loss... barely, I suppose @@TheGameCubicle
@@ron4tronbetter to trick a Leftovers onto it so that it can recover HP and stall the struggle death just a bit
There was a dude who had a legit living Orre dex all caught in luxury balls. He beat the entire two GameCube games without catching a single Pokémon until after the post game and went back and forth in FireRed to get more luxury balls, trade them on Pokémon to Colosseum and XD and then started catching them.
It took him literal weeks as he didn't want to just clone those balls in Emerald.
Holy crap that is crazy, I respect and admire this person’s dedication
There was a person who did the same but it was all shiny pokemon. Took him forever.
Ignore that I cant remember any real details like the name, that this is unusually specific to the video, and that it sounds like complete BS without any proof being given. Just give me likes and replies!
@@Luckingsworth Here's my Like and here's my reply because I'm just as much of a slave to the algorithm as you are. 🤭
I was so preoccupied with how annoying it was to separately grab Premier Balls that I never noticed how rare Luxury Balls were.
For Rayquaza I taught skill swap to a Smeargle so it can swap own tempo to avoid the outrage confusion. The other three moves are ingrain, false swipe, and spore.
At least cloning the luxury ball exists in Emerald.
How do you do that?
@@ericmay560 there are videos on how to clone in emerald that can show you better than I can tell you
Some games delete instead of clone so start with a random clone @lucideirune1635
8:09 A sleeping lv 70 Rayquaza at full health will break out of 100 Luxury Balls 43% of the time, and 150 Luxury Balls 29% of the time. RNG manipulation for faster Shiny Rayquazas is the way to go
I remember finding this in Emerald as a kid some 20 years ago and assuming it was a sort of second Master Ball based on name, rarity and appearance. I used it to catch Rayqaza (1st try, 1st throw). I spent years of my life with this false assumption till I stumbled upon the Bulbapedia page one day and found out it's just a glorified Pokeball... I was both disappointed and proud
Idk why but the Adamant Nature really adds to the aesthetic somehow 🤷♂️
Makes it even more unlikely
I recently got a Sapphire to match my Ruby, and I was looking into a Luxury Ball for an easier Crobat. But since I don't have any link cable to trade my Firered Luxury Balls over with, I had to see other methods. I then learned about how being an Egg Mon and levelling up gains you friendship, so I had two Zubats breed, and switch trained the offspring until I had a Golbat, and 4 levels later a Crobat. The whole thing only took me like an hour. I love being older and wiser.
It's crazy how dense these games are with their content. I never knew that about egg mons gaining extra friendship.
@@TheGameCubicle Yeah! Apparently your Pokémon starts at 120 Friendship just from being hatched from an Egg. And since gaining a level also gains you Friendship, by the time Zubat was a Golbat, it was already at around 180 out of the 220 needed. (Likely much more, since it evolved again around lvl 26.) When I get a link cable, I'm definitely remembering this for the Eevees that will need to become Espeon and Umbreon.
It's so cool that people still engage with these old games with things like the link cable. I recently found my old link cable and it was so nostalgic. Unfortunately, I no longer have two working GBAs that I could have used it with.@@TheDanishGuyReviews
I really, really wish I didn't sell my old Pokémon games or even Black/Black 2 with how people are finding new things in these games, and the fact that a lone banged-up cart of Emerald costs fucking over $150 on medium on the secondary market...
To be fair, I did it so I could go to a convention for the first time ever and invite a friend, and I wouldn't trade those memories for anything, but also, holy shit, why does Black 2 cost as much as Emerald.
This is some runescape level rng grind bullshit
I actually caught shadow lugia in a luxury ball, thought the ball color matched the shadow design really well and was even more on board when I realized there was only one and I couldn't trade for them until after capturing them x3 Actually got really lucky and managed to catch them in way less attempts then I expected, I thought that was pretty cool.
That is super impressive! A great Luxury Ball capture!
As long as you have access to most of the Pokemon you’ve “seen” in your dex, Resort Gorgeous is definitely the best option for farming luxury balls legitimately in Gen 3. If you have all the individual Pokémon you’ve seen, you can potentially get another luxury ball every 2 minutes. After getting a reward from Selphy, exit the house and reenter to have her request another Pokemon. If you don’t have the Pokemon she wants, ride your bike from one side of her island to the other 10 times and she’ll request a different one. It’s still very tedious to do, but can be much faster than the contest method.
I caught a shiny raquaza in a luxury ball a while back.
Here is how I did it:
1. Get a luxury ball
2. Use a duplication glitch to dupe it a LOT (having multiple copies of the game can help with speed)
3. RNG manipulate the shiny raquaza (it’s a static pokemon) (this requires knowing your SID, and thankfully I had found a shiny before and used that to help figure out my SID)
4. Catch it (if you run out of balls, reset and RNG manip another one)
If that is too much work for you, you could always just get a shiny raquaza and use ACE to change the Pokeball that it is in.
I mean if I gotta use ACE to change my Pokeball I might as well just hack in a shiny Rayquaza, kudos for finding your SID though that was smart.
cringe
@@stacyfearliciayoure gonna go nuts when you realize how people enjoy pokemon
If you're gonna cheat with cloning then just hack in the fucking items and shinies. So weird how people cheat in games and then try to play it off as legit.
@@Clooger- implying that using the games coding to your advantage as hacking is hilarious
9:25 I have a life
The only hard part about getting shiny rayquaza on a Luxury ball is actually getting the Luxury Balls
Once you have the Lucury Balls, all you have to do is some Arbitrary Code Execution to spawn a shiny rayquaza and then just spam luxury balls until one works
Getting shinies in Gen 3 is super easy
I caught it shiny in a luxury ball, but I cheated them in with GameShark. Rayquaza was legitimately hunted tho
That’s still impressive! That’s as difficult as getting it in a regular poke ball!
I use cheat codes to put Pokémon in poke balls I like all the time especially the apricorn balls. They’re my favorite but so rare in game
I was so surprised at how small your channel is! I love this video and you've got great presentation skills! I can't wait to watch this channel grow!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! I'm new to content creation (been at it for less than a year). Currently just a two man operation with me and my girlfriend working on the videos trying out best to put out an interesting video each week. This particular subject was something that was super fun for me to cover!
Are you more of a Pokémon fan? I also do a lot of Mario content. I thought of specializing in just one franchise but honestly I've got too much to say about either franchise.
@@TheGameCubicle Love it that you and your girlfriend are tackling this, very cool! I've been on a bit of a Pokemon kick lately, but really I'm down to watch just about anything.
I totally get not wanting to niche down too much, that's kind of what I ended up doing on my channel and while I do like what I make content on. I do sometimes want to cover other things and that can be tough when everyone expects you to focus on one subject.
He wasn't holding the down button
I forgot about that exploit. Pack it up. Challenge solved.
Still do this on the games on an emulator 😂 swear it still works
How does that work?
Luxury Balls are one of the only balls in Pokemon that has a lasting effect after using it. It is rare because of that. Hell, it's in the name: it is a luxury. Of course they're rare
I farmed about 100 luxury balls in FireRed and caught my shiny Mewtwo in it simply because I figured he'd be cozier in there (which reminds me I need to transfer him up before 3DS online servers explode in about a week)
edit: I do wanna clarify that the rich lady is farmable, you just have to walk a certain amount of steps for her to ask for another pokemon! since I was completing the living dex in my game as well, it was easy to just grab the pokemon I needed from the pokemon center and bring it to her! (it did take several hours to get all the balls I wanted though)
You forgot to mention you can the Pokémon cloning glitch in the battle frontier to get more Luxury Balls, which I did and subsequently found shiny Rayquaza in 15 SRs the same day! Caught it in 5 Luxury Balls.
🧢
Catching legends i find to be easier with paralysis, it constantly works, steals turns half the time and has a decent multiplier without constant damage.
This video is cool as heck ! I didn't realize how rare a luxuryball im gen 3 is I assumed they could be brought somewhere eventually in the game. It was also very neat to see the other methods of obtaining one while it does seem grinding it makes it that much cooler to obtain in gen 3. Very fun video !
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! That's exactly why I made it! I thought that this wouldn't be the most common knowledge amongst fans!
Knowing this info now, it blows my mind that i caught Rayquaza with it back in the day when all my ultra balls failed.
Because if it was widespreadly available it would not be as rare and luxurious ?
The true meaning of the video!
This reminded me of a similar challenge: shiny Distortion World Giratina in a dive ball. 4th gen dive balls were a similar scarcity, but for literally no canon reason lol. Giratina in the Distortion World was also never caught in a non masterball until the same year i did that challenge. So i feel the flex of color matching in balls and rarity. Love the video, bro!
they were rare because there were no dive areas in Gen 4 and they hadn't changed its effect to work on any pokemon encountered while surfing/fishing IIRC.

8:05 Well. . . That's an unfortunate name for a Pokemon LMAO
I was going to say.... it's named WHAT???
I was wondering it someone commented on that. lol
I know it isn't, but imagine if it was a Hypno lmao(it's probably a Sharpedo)
Well, pedos means farts in spanish.
in emerald contests are not so bad, smeargle is basically made for those and easy to get. also you could do the emerald clone glitch to get more luxury balls if you like them so much
Great video! Hope this challenge catches on
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
The timing! When I feel like doing an Emerald replay, the algorithm blesses me with this recent upload! Oh the coincidence!
I just flat out really enjoyed this video! splendid job!
Thanks so much! I try to post videos like this once a week. I recently did another Pokémon video on Pokéstar Studios
It's pretty fascinating that the newer Gen Pokémon games are so irrelevant that people are and have been practically data mining all of the old generation Pokémon games and we are discovering things we never even realized or thought of existing, goes to show how much love and thought was put into the older generation games.
For those who want to farm tons of luxury balls (or any other items), you can consider using the Battle Tower Cloning glitch. It is an extremely simple glitch to execute that can save you all the grinding in the contest. This video demonstrates how to do so: [czcams.com/video/PRq7rJ7E7hU/video.html&ab_channel=CandyEvie].
In addition, there exists an even faster glitch, known as the Fast Cloning glitch which allows you to duplicate up to a whole box of Pokémon per iteration (instead of the usual five per iteration by the Battle Tower Cloning glitch). However there is a slight catch: it takes some efforts to setup the glitch as you'll need to carry out the Pomeg Berry glitch which is slightly complicated and time-consuming (took me around 2 hours) but imo it's totally worth it since 1) you're speeding up the process by almost six times, 2) once you've done the setup, you can easily perform the cloning glitch over and over again at anytime in the future and 3) it allows you to perform many other glitches that are also very useful. This video demonstrates how to perform the Fast Cloning (and Decloning) glitch: [czcams.com/video/Sa9nEZBU3DI/video.html&ab_channel=Sleipnir17]. The method to perform the Pomeg Berry glitch is also in that video's description (or just look it up on yt as there's many videos showcasing how to do it).
Personally I used this glitch to duplicate max amount of each type of ball for my shiny hunting (rn I'm doing the Lati@s glitch to shiny hunt in the Battle Tower). Hopefully this info is useful for some of you!
Best strategy ? Use Own Tempo Pokémon and skill swap the ability to Rayquaza so he can never be confused. Spoink has both.
Then, use a Smeargle with both Spore, False Swipe and Trick (@leppa berry) so that even with pp waste it cannot struggle to death.
Easy.
This is why I asked commenters if they had better strategies. I knew the fans would come up with awesome combos like this!
I actually caught a zubat with the luxury ball for that reason because I became obsessed with Crobat in Pokemon gold. Zuzu became a lifelong partner.
I was so confused when i started this video because i never had a problem with luxury balls when i played because contests were cool too, you could get your party members to have ribbons and it made me feel like they were unique
Fantastic Video, man, I played through Gen 3 the most and completely forgot that the Luxury Ball was even in the game
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’m glad you could get some gen 3 nostalgia! That’s one of the things I made the channel for!
Meanwhile, me as a kid who used it on a Growlithe/Arcanine:
But in all seriousness, Luxury Balls are more of a status symbol than anything else. I use them exclusively for shinies I've been hoarding, unless I can use a Lure Ball on various Water Pokemon. No idea why GameFreak nerfed them from 1k a piece to 3k a piece, lmao.
I used tons of ultraballs against Groudon. I threw the luxury ball for the jokes and it fucking stayed in.
The ball look great on a shiny mega Groudon.
If you're that scared of confusion damage, you can always just give the rayquaza -6 attack
I caught my rng manipulated shiny rayquaza in a luxury ball and it was a satisfying catch just took so long to finally keep him in that ball lol
why don't propose this challenge to smallant? it could be funny to see him try. Also great presentation
Thanks so much! I love SmallAnt! I'd love to see him attempt this! It would be so cool to see the challenge attempted!
Omg that's a great idea!
I'm not quite insane enough to try this, but maybe one day.
I got shadow Lugia in the one luxury ball available, it took literal days.
The kicker, I got it with a friend after watching the Zeraora movie. We we screaming ‘Pokémon power!’ in harmony and pushed the A button together and actually caught it.
It had no effect on the shadow effect tho.
Also caught Groudon and Rayquaza in the single lixury balls of their respective games before I discovered that I could farm them in Firered.
Now I have multiple full odds shinies in these balls and I am as proud as ever
Had no idea luxary balls were this rare but i caught my mewtwo with ine. It was my last pokeball and i had already used my masterball . It does look cool i remeber thinking lol
Bro, it's wild that as a person who went out of his way to shiny hunt Rayquaza in Emerald(and was insanely lucky to find it within 4 hours of starting), the one ball that would be PERFECT for it is so tedious to farm that it's objectively not worth doing.
0:45 what really baffles me how people intentionally ignore items on the ground
I'd say use an Electrode with Spore for the sleep setup. 😈
i just checked my old childhood file. 148 luxury balls. Im pretty sure from contests, i loved those. i didn't realize how much i loved those till now, casue i remember useing luxury balls like they were going out of fashion.
my first thought is getting a pokemon that knows Spite to use it after Rayquaza uses Outrage, then after it snaps out of confusion, you can weaken it and then put it to sleep and catch it.
I'd watch that deep dive on Pokemon contests :D
Its funny how i caught a goldbat with the luxury ball when i was a kid but i didnt know that back in the day xD
Glad to see someone ACTUALLY is doing an entire video on this.. because I did this with my Action Replay back in 06' and it... was... ABSOLUTELY BANANAS!!! 😭💯
Playing an Emerald hack and thankfully the Luxury Ball shows up in a store depending on gym badges (it's 5k tho 😅). Thankfully they also made it useful by having 100% catch rate on shinys.
Yesterday I tried catching a shiny Rayquaza (Mild with good IVs) with a luxury ball using Pokefinder and Eon timer. He appears on frame 41,872 for my trainer secret ID, which is an attempt every 11minutes. The only thing that wasn't legit was that I gave myself 35 luxury balls....and then I accidentally crit him with Alakazam. After a few more attempts I found him again today and I just threw a masterball, didn't wanna hunt him down again after realizing just how difficult it was.
We have this situation with the kurt balls in current gens lol.
Also, i have caught Rayquaza in a luxury ball already. Emerald has a really abusable RNG manipulation strategy.
I'm working on making it a ribbon master but i already have my hands full with a few other pokemon. Mostly a Kirlia, Shiny shaymin in a nest ball, shiny Giratina in a luxury ball and a level 1 shiny Giratina i am working on getting from Sinjoh ruins... his name is Silverfish :)
Man, I was always so disappointed that apricorn balls were only one per game. I didn't know about all the RNG manipulation. I've seen a lot of comments mentioning it.
hilariously enough in HGSS I have a kyogre in a Luxury Ball I whittled it down like basically to 1HP and threw my hyper balls, in the mean time it also used aqua ring and by the time I ran out of the hyper balls it was back to like half HP, and I just Hail Mary'd a single Luxury ball which happened to catch it
video title had me scratching my head. i was like "are they really that hard to get? can't you just get them from winning contests or something"
"Most likely rayquaza wont struggle knock itself out"
He did it twice for me before i managed to get him.
I was shiny hunting and grtting legends in luxury balls for awhile now but i didnt realize how low the catch rate was till i tried to do it emerald
Also there is the smeargle method of false swipe and spore.
I didn't consider Smeargle. Did you try Smeargle with catching Rayquaza. How many Outrages can Smearge survive before needing healing? I chose Snorlax apart because of it's bulk.
Funny enough, I did just this. I got a lot of Luxury Balls (cloning the one from the ship) and shiny hunted all the legendary's in emerald. It was a challenge, but a doable challenge.
great video! subbed!
Thanks so much! Welcome to the channel! How did you find the video?
I didn't even know it was that rare, like I knew it was in gen 3 but I never thought to buy one cause I don't really use them. Like the only thing you could catch in RSE that evolves with Friendship is Zubat/Golbat, you'd need to breed to get the baby mon that need it, and those hatch in regular Pokeballs anyway. And then Chansey is only in FRLG and in the Safari Zone. But I guess I do love that it could just be a flex. Like it's a great looking Ball. And then immediately the next Gen they're available to buy
If you have Emerald and have access to the Battle Frontier then you can just clone a ton of Luxury Balls using that Battle Tower cloning glitch. Just defeat Rayquaza when you first encounter it, then it'll respawn after you beat the Elite Four and you can try for it after you've gotten the balls.
Glitches aren't intended by the developers. The point of the challenge is to take the insane rarity of the luxury ball to the extreme. That would make it no different than just catching Rayquaza in a normal ball.
just want to say this video has one of the cleanest, nicest thumbnails I've ever seen
Smeargle @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 20 Spe at least if its 0 IVs on Spe to outspeed lvl 70 Ray with 31 IVs on Spe.
Serious Nature
- Spore
- False Swipe
- Skill Swap
- Recover
This is all you need I think.
I only use luxury balls to catch shiny pokemon. It looks great and it does give off the rare feeling.
Super classy! Make sure they hold gold nuggets!
I hunted a single shiny ray before. And I actually enjoy doing pokemon contests. I think im up for the challenge...
Best of luck to you!
This video was fun! I used a Luxury Ball to catch my shiny Mew last week!
If it transforms it copies catch rate, so I crossed my fingers that it would copy my Zigzagoon, and not metronome explode, and once I false swiped it and put it to sleep it would give it a 100% catch rate. I still farmed up 4 extra Luxury balls from contests just in case, but I obviously caught it on the first ball!
Never been a fan of other pokeballs, so much so that when ORAS came out I got an entire living dex entirely in normal pokeballs
Man I’m the opposite I love poke ball variety. Game Freak should’ve continued adding around 5 new ones per generation and I’m always disappointed they basically stopped in Gen 4.
Pretty cool living dex though! Must’ve been quite the challenge on some of the legendaries!
I legitimately never understood that one, the pokeball is so plain to me.
Interesting video! I never used the Luxury Balls in PokéMMO but at least they are easily obtainable there. Maybe I should get some to complete the National Dex for Happiness evolutions
The best strategy for doing this without a game shark on console would be to just be to use RNG manipulation, or using ACE. I think doing the RNG manipulation would be harder to do, but getting ACE set up is pretty time consuming and feels less legit.
Interesting. I have no knowledge on how to RNG manip and what it would mean for a challenge like this.
I have done both and predicting rng is easier imo.
You don't manipulate rng in emerald, you predict the frame on where the shiny will spawn and press A.
@@TheGameCubicle It means it’s pretty easy all things considered!
@@TheGameCubicle
>Setup RNG manip
> Wait 7 hours for the frame perfect input that will generate a shiny Rayquaza
> Miss, try again later
I used ACE to respawn Rayquaza, battle tower to copy luxury balls, and RNG manipulation to get the shiny frame. All in all, it took an afternoon but it wasn't too bad. It took about 120 luxury balls but I got it without knocking it out once.
I never knew how rare they were as a kid compared to the master ball, but then again, I KO'd and saved over defeating both Groudon and Kyogre when I first played Emerald so my thoughts as a kid don't count.
here is an even greater challenge. Getting the entire weather trio as shinies in the luxury ball and move them up to at least Omega Ruby/Alpha Saphire and have Groudon and Kyogre hold the red and blue orbs respectively. Full black shiny weather trio
As a kid I found the luxury ball and fell I love with how pretty it is and to this day it’s still my favorite ball. I used mine on an absol ❤
Im trying to remember what i spent my luxury ball on. Skarmory on accident, i think. I think i caught kyogre in a heal ball.
Modern Pokémon Players probably don't realize just how good they got it in terms of convenience. From wild Pokémon encounters to the availability of items as gens 1-3 were real stingy about certain items with the Luxury Ball being I think the most widely ignored item. Since you wouldn't normally encounter it in a shop nor see other trainers use it. A detail I wish the company would have used more often.
I got my shiny Rayquaza in 2 luxury ball throws at 1624 encounters. my strategy was a level 100 smeargle with superfang, false swipe, spore, and recover. easily my favorite shiny that I have
Magneton with thunderwave and lefttovers should be enough, it can resist fly and extreme speed, rayquaza cant do rest if not damage itself with outrage, take out the possibility to do that attack because its paralyzed, after that you just throw all the pokeballs you want, i catch mine yesterday with a premier ball :D
Damn, i did this just a couple of weeks ago. Rng'd rayquaza and then spent 3 weeks throwing balls :3
I did get a skill swap smeargle for own tempo, which is a must for this challenge
Use 6 flashes to get him to miss outrage and minimize confusion
... My little brother did this when we were kids on his Ruby cartridge that we replaced the battery for. That was a lot of fun. He was a lucky bastard but he item duped the one you get for free. He did use a Snorlax
i never knew what it did, i just really liked how it looked lol
Just be a chad and throw a single luxury ball at shiny Rayquaza and capture it on the first try.
Wait, luxury balls are only as good as normal balls? My entire life feels like a lie
OH so thats why i love the luxury ball so much XD
pokemon emerald was the only gba game i had growing up
Catching Shadow Lugia in a Luxury Ball was a challenge.. don't even know how many resets I did but was worth it!
I went in with 3 Luxury Balls.
Wait… so my Flygon that I used forever in Battle Frontier as a kid, that was caught in a Luxury Ball as a Trapinch, was actually something I may not remember at all as it turns out I probably only had one and just got lucky? 😅
Didn't even know they were rare af in gen 3. I caught my Kyogre in a luxury and since then I'd always catch legendaries in Lux balls
Now farm a bunch of those luxury balls and encounter a shiny Rayquaza and catch it with the upmost swagger
Doing this challenge with the Battle Tower duplication glitch, arbitrary code execution and RNG manipulation, it might not be that time consuming and could be doable in a day. I hope someone tries it!
Something you could do to alleviate Rayquaza's Outrage confusion is use a Slowbro to Skill Swap Own Tempo onto it. And yes, this works.
8:43 use delibird to heal with with present and hope the RNG favors you
Good thing its easy to clone items in emerald with the battle fronteir😉
I think the best «catcher» pokemon in the Game is Smeargle with Substitute, Spore, Agility and False Swipe. Grind down Raqyuaza to 1 hp and put it to sleep in order to prevent Outrage to cause confusion damage. After 3 pumps of agility Smeargle should outspeed Raquaza. This enables you to use Spore before Raquaza uses Outrage after it wakes up from sleep and destroys your sub on the prior turn
Wasting hours of your life brute forcing RNG: what an amazing challenge.
I feel called out, I’ve been hunting a farfetch’d in leafgreen for almost a year, 22,500 eggs hatched.
You have single handedly saved the Farfetch'd population
As the proud owner of a shiny Rayquaza caught in Emerald with a luxury ball and a trainer ID of 42069, nice video :p
That is one classy Rayquaza!
