Just found this video Graeme, thanks very much for posting it, so helpful.
Watched this video yesterday and made my first ever rig copied from here wessex rig caught a plaice on first cast
That has never ever happened before EVER
I have fished loads over the last year and got a bit disheartened with only catching doggies and odd dab and blanking a lot
But today I went to antrim coast and caught 15 fish
Plaice pollack loads of rock fish loads of wrasse and a 2 and a half pound ballon wrasse that I was over the moon with couldn't stop smiling after that one my son was lifting fish and crabs out for fun with rag on a hook nothing else

Lovely job Graeme. I use that rig in the harbour sometimes. Been using ledgers a bit less now, the crabs never seem to stop this year probably something to do with sea temperature. tend to be using tall rig bodies and short snoods
Nice one Graeme, I might try that in an up coming competition, but maybe have two short snoods above and the longer one below.

as always great work. I will definately be trying that method of straightening line a sea fishing freind of mine told me to get the coils out by running the lenghth of line over your knee while under tension seems to work but theres a niggling little doubt in my head that suggests i may just be putting a long arch into the line and it not being such an efficient method. 🖒
p.s i cant understand why you are not on t.v yet. You seem to be an awesome character and your attention to all round fishing rather than a specific genre alongside your knowledge mean you could contend with the likes off rex hunts classic work in my eyes.

Hey love the vids with this Wessex rig couldn't you use an upside down genie clip about half way down the rig so you can clip the ledger up when casting

Length of your rod.A few turns around your reel spool and about a 3 foot drop from rod top to your rig

Can only speak for British fishing but generally October to February would be considered Whiting time.

Hello Mike and hello to the team... I need some help here to overcome some frustration please. What is the best set up for beach fishing with ROCKS on the ground, Every single time, my stuff get stuck as soon as I wheel in. Any help would be lovely. Thank you very much in advance ! ! Side note: I drone Fish and cast out way above 500 meter from the beach.

Hey! I've always used a size 12 hook for carp, would you recommend using a bigger size?
Only if you want to use a bigger bait. I use a size 4 most of the time.
would you be able to use a 35lb line for the trace?
Depends what you are after,but no reason why not.I have been using mostly 50lb this winter and its made no dropoff in catches at all,plus tangles less.
sorry....... me again lol, is this predominantly for use off boats or could it be easily adapted for casting.
This is really a shore fishing rig.No reason not to try it boat fishing.
I completely overlooked the fact it shows you casting from the shore at the beginning of the vid lol school boy error.
