Vegeta tapped his son on the head because he wanted him knocked out in the easiest way possible. When it came to Goten he was like "Fuck you little Kakarot" and nailed him in the stomach.
"And so one of the earth's greatest warriors has vanished in a blinding flash of light, having made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of his loved ones, his name was Vegeta... a proud Saiyan prince""
Y'know, the thing that really strikes home about this is that Vegeta's going through with sacrificing his life despite knowing one final act of goodness won't make up for the life he's lived and that he'll be going straight to hell when he dies.
Majin Vegeta ironically is pretty respectable, he was venting whilst fighting Goku and til the end. It's such an insight of what Vegeta feels in the inside, which we didn't get to see since The Namek saga
The thing about this is that, it means that Vegeta will always end up in Hell. Because it's not Christian Hell, it's more Asian Underworld. You go there to be cleansed of your sins to be reborn. Vegeta will always carry the weight of his sins, multiple mass genocides will do that. Vegeta is only redeemed in the eyes of the audience, but not in the laws of the world that Dragon Ball built. Sins are sins, and a lot of Vegeta fans don't understand that in the end, Vegeta still has to pay the consequences.
Not only that but when Vegeta fought Kid Buu knowing he stood no chance against him, knowing full well if he died again he wouldn't come back, he accepted all of that without hesitation.
1:49 And so, one of the Earth's greatest creators has vanished in a moment in time, having made the ultimate manga series for the love of the people, his name was Akira Toriyama, a renowned artist and person.
I don't know what is the best part in this scene: -seeing Krillin and Piccolo really terrified about Vegeta death, -Vegeta's determination to save his family through painful death ( judging by his scream ), - the narrator talking about proud Sayian prince. All hail Prince of All Sayians.
Everything was so on point. Bruce Faulconer's score throughout. Sonny Strait with that amazing yell. Christopher Sabat giving us what I thought would be Vegeta's last scream. And Kyle Hebert with that perfect narration.
The kai version is very heartwarming emotional driven with an amazing vegeta scream in the end, while the original version with bruce faulconer score and vegeta dialogue "I'm gonna crush and throw you into the wind" made it more badass both scenes are equally great.
I prefer Vegeta's screams here, felt more raw and painful. It's not bad with Kai but it comes up short in emotion compared to Buu saga Funi, any scene with Majin Vegeta is where this is felt the most.
And so, one of the Earth’s greatest warriors has vanished in a blinding flash of light. Having made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of his loved ones. His name was Akira Toriyama a proud Saiyan Prince”😢
It is funny that despite being the character people say Toriyama disliked, he had the most growth of a character in the entire series, next to Piccolo.
For Akira Toriyama, this is the best scene of the franchise; a warrior dying for his loved ones, truly the warrior's death. My favorite character. Rest In Peace Akira Toriyama
Thanks for making our childhoods fun and great. No one will replace you. Thanks for everything. May your legacy continue for eternity Rest in power Akira Toriyama.
Best DBZ moment of all time. Vegeta shows that he can't be controlled by anyone and that he has people he cares for. And Krillin screaming for Vegeta and showing concern for him when he wanted so badly to kill him in the Saiyan saga is the cherry on top.

Vegeta might not be my favorite or top 3 character in the anime but u cant but help respect him just based off his character development alone. Bro would literally be a MC in many other animes besides DB, just his determination to never give up no matter how cornered u are, to always strive to be the best, etc. He just has so much depth to his character even though Toriyama doesn't like him as much, he still found a way to make vegeta that great

So much better than Japanese and Kai. The other two could never properly capture emotion or intensity like this. I felt way more pain from Vegeta’s screaming and way more emotion from Krillin screaming Vegeta’s name than in any other dub or sub.
Yep vegeta know he is going to hell after what he did in stadium And also future gohan sacrifice come close to this bcz he also know that my death will be permanent no dragon balls

His name was Vegeta, a Proud Saiyan Prince…
It would have, if you wouldn't know that they'd bring him back with the dragonballs in no time. Death kind of lost it's meaning in dragonball.
I just got chills. That was so badass
This should have killed fat buu in my opinion, and spawned evil buu.
Kind of makes the scene that much more sad and powerful T_T.
