Still love this! Works with many ego tools
The thrust of the air adds to the "weight". The backpack blower helps so your arm isn't resisting those additional forces as they are transferred thru the peg into the backpack.

@@TechMadeEzy at the same time, the fact that you can switch hands is nice so you can reduce fatigue if you're doing a big job. I don't miss the gas backpack blower and the pain it caused in my shoulders and back. I look forward to trying the backpack link and new blower (I have the 650, now).
@@adamlesandrini312 Very true. I have the backpack blower and right arm fatigue definitely happens. I have a backpack link now also so at some point in the future I will likely buy a handheld blower to use with it.
Also the maneuverability is more limited with the backpack blower - for example it is awkward and potentially dangerous on a ladder blowing out gutters - the handheld should work better for that I'm guessing...
@@caseyandgina I would say having had both, using the backpack blower on a ladder has an advantage in that you don't have to carry the blower, but the handheld blower can be lifted instead of having to get so far above the gutter to safely use the backpack. Each has a different advantage, there, but the handheld blower is nicer in general, imo, which is why I'm not the only one who switched from a gas backpack to an electric handheld.

@@TechMadeEzy yea man i have the handheld one, i have all ego tools and run my own business and have been considering the backpack link i'm just not sure how much of a difference itll make and if its worth it, also wondering if itd make your back sore at the end of the day
It’s pretty comfortable it’s also lightweight and it can be defend your run time when you have a larger battery. Maybe try one out.
Planning a whole Ego setup for my home. Thank you for presenting this I have not seen it anywhere else. With this I can buy the snowblower, buy the rest of the tools sans battery and save a bit and use the two 7.5 batteries for smaller tools without worry of weight. A real game changer, thank you so much.

765 CFM blower w/backpack link vs backpack blower, would certainly be interesting to see.
NOW YA TELL ME! I've had what appears to be an earlier version of the backpack blower for a number of years. While I'm a righty, there is another reason to want the ability to use my left hand. Leaves that are between the house and my left side are difficult to blow in the desired direction. I want them to go forward. But I can't aim the blower tangent to the house from my right side. The best I can do is a bank shot, blowing air at the house and hoping the ricochet of air will push the leaves in the right direction. More often it just makes a mess blowing the upward and then back Dow where they started. For that reason I wish I had the 650 and the link. Also, there is a tubing kit for blowing leaves out of rain gutters for the hand held blowers (demo please) but, not for the backpack. On the other hand, your point about the 6 pound weight is something to think about.

I haven't got the BackPack Link yet., decided to try the EGO shoulder strap first and see if that is good enough. But I went with the 650 CFM standalone as I really wanted to use the Gutter cleaning attachment. So far, after only one season of use.. I am happy with it.

Made my own gutter cleaner attachment for Ego blower for 1/3 of the price.
I can even add additional pipes to reach even higher.
i do wish the turbo was included in that rotary switch, even if it had a click like the "on/off" has. would be huge.
Been using the backpack blower for more than a year now for my lawn service. This Leaf season I got a 650 hand blower for my left hand. Not because I'm left-handed, but so I could use both barrels at once. I noticed that the hand blower battery does not get as hot as the battery in the backpack. I believe this has to do with where the battery is in relation to the fan.

I do the same. My neighbor has an Echo with the throttle on the left and the blower on the right so he can't do two blowers at once. When we have 3 blowers going, the leaves don't have a chance.
Higher Ah battery sizes don't get as hot since they don't have to discharge the individual cells as fast. If it's on your back and you have them, throw a 10-12Ah battery on there. :)
I once bought an Ego string trimmer with a 2.5Ah battery and it was constantly overheating in the summer. The 5Ah from my chainsaw worked much better, and I ended up returning the trimmer and buying one without a battery later. All but one of my batteries are 7.5 or 10Ah which work great, and I look forward to getting a zero turn mower with 6x 12Ah batteries in the future which will work great with the backpacks too...

I need the link for next Fall. I still have thew older 530CFM blower, still plenty strong, but it lasts long with a 7.5 and 5.0AH battery. The 7.5 is heavy, I switch hands every 30 seconds. The link would help. Still have my fingers crossed for a WIDE push mower for this Spring.

Great idea !!! But these battery blowers lack run time and are freaking heavy, like 2x the weight of a gas. Bigger battery, heavier it gets !!!
I’m crippled after using my 615 ego blower. I will check out that ego back pack battery carrier.

There are two forces your arm is fighting when using the hand blower. One is gravity, the other is Newton's third law. Point the blower down at full strength, and they will come close to canceling each other out.
Been thinking about you since I read your comment. Keep your elbow bent when using the hand blower. That seems to help my arm survive a long run time.

@@robertthompson3447 I really meant I need to do glute exercises. This heavy blower kills my back, hips, & knees. It’s my own fault. I did buy a generic strap that helps. Kept coming off. But now I fixed that problem. Didn’t help that I work on my neighbors yards & my daughter’s new huge many many leaves yard. Next year I will b in better shape for the task.
Ego makes some great quality equipment, i can surely attest to it, i use it on all my jobs as well as my personal property. Love the equipment so much. In fact today was my last lawn of the season, you can check the post out on instagram, pretty powerful. And it got the job done worth lots of power to spare. Such good equipment, i like the back pack blower. It looks really powerful. And the ergonomics look great too, not a one size fits all but rather allows you to set where you can pay he joystick, or extend the handle. Just he simple things. Well have a great night my friend. So tell me,...with my recently purchased backpack blower what is the optimum battery size that will support a reasonable, 1-2 hours of leaf blowing??

@@TechMadeEzy well, thanks for that, but can you answer this follow up question....does the 7.5Ah offer appreciably longer run time than the 5.0?....(and for that matter, how does the 10Ah compare to the 7.5Ah?...and in regards to their additional purchase price, which is the best value in regard to additional run time and purchase price, in your opinion?
5ah to a 7.5ah yes, 50% more for sure, bottom line buying batteries by themselves it's expensive but they make a good battery. I've been able to get my batteries by buying the kits
@@TechMadeEzy Ah, yes....but too late for that (all inclusive kit). Is there any reason NOT to take a chance on a non-EGO brand replacement battery? (The one I just saw carries a 10 yr warranty.)
My personal preference I don't want to take any chances with my warranty if the battery causes some issue. I haven't done any research. Ever search for refurb ego equipment? Another way to get a battery with a limited warranty.
