Thank you all so much for the love!!!! Sput, Nate, and GhostNote brought tons of energy to my music. Thanks again to my Zildjian fam for the amazing opportunity!
Larnell Lewis Music what I told you the day before. That damn hi hat swell! lol😩 knew the world would love it. #genius
One of the best modern drummers today man! You're top tier no doubts about it!
The whole band is amazing!
I'm a fan of you, Lewis.
Sean Wright Thx Bro!!!!!!
Admit it. This isn't your first time watching this.
It is 10th
Hundred and something, I lost count.
Second One... Today
Guilty
Actually it is... But it won't the the last
Still watching this in 2024!!
TO THIS DAY!

Hahahhahhahahhahhahahhah
😭😭😭
AHAAHHAHAHAHA
This is like mario kart lobby music but crazier
omg, no kidding i've been thinking the same thing all week
it’s like people forget jazz is actually great
That's what I think every time I hear JD Beck and Domi
Taylor King yesss their stuff reminds me a lot of Kirby music too
And he's the blue shell
Okay but come on... can we just talk about how beautifully and subtly Nate Werth (percussionist) compliments Larnell here (as well as every other drummer he works with)!! Sneakily filling the space at 6:07, getting that drop with Larnell at 6:34, adding to the Latin-esque groove at 7:00, and most importantly never getting in the way or playing when he doesn't need to be!! Awesome musicianship.
Seriously!!!!!!!! Its SO EPIC!!!!!
OF COURSE!!
Larnell & Nate are my fav Snarky percussive section!
He doesn't overdo anything and every little bongo drum hit and stack triplet fits perfectly. Just the right amount of salt and pepper.
He actually made larnell sound so much better!
This is one of those legendary performances that every musician returns to watch from time to time... I really don't know how many times I've been here.
same
Exactly. This video is a standard of mastery to listen to on literally every instrument! Drums, ,percussion, bass guitar, keys, lead guitar. I never get tired of listening to this.
Yes. I have at least 25 of them. And it gets better every time.
You're right Sir.
...and he makes it look so fkin easy.. Totally relaxed. I'm sure he could do it in his sleep..
This was the last piece of music I shared with my grandpa. Unable to leave his bed let alone spend time in his room with 31 guitars, he replied, “Amazing!!!”
In the weeks leading to his passing, this became my all-time favorite music performance. Now, months later listening to it again for the first time, I’m reminded of the never-ending and inexplicably positive influence, not just musically, that he had on me. I have a whole life in front of me, and I know he’d want me to keep enjoying this piece - so that’s what I’ll do. Thank you all for this incredible, incredible piece of music.
At this point, Larnell should be a brand of drums.

man, even PROFFESSIONAL drummers are fanboying this GUY. Tranparency in technique, creativity as wild as a little kid, skilled like a grown man, and a God given talent. I wanna be like him. Mr. Larnell Lewis you're amazing!
Abisha Reveche 100% EXACTLY what you said! Brilliantly stated. Peace
I'm blown away
Well said!!
His creativity is very inspiring indeed
My first exposure to the otherworldly drumming capability of this man was when I stumbled upon the Snarky Puppy "Lingus" video a few years ago. My mind was blown and not only did it make me a huge Larnell Lewis fan, but it was also my first exposure to Snarky Puppy. I thank whatever Gods were looking down on me that day because I've found so much more incredible music since then that I would have never known even existed. This video is one of them, too. Had the CZcams algorithm not known I was already into Snarky Puppy and had searched other Larnell videos, this would not have been recommended to me.
My only regret about this whole thing is that these Zildjian/Ghost-Note drummer showcase videos were recorded in a studio not far from where I live. I would have never made the invite list, and probably wouldn't have found a way in, but I would have like to have tried, dammit!
Larnell plays with such good “micro dynamics”: every hit is with a very deliberate volume. All at a hundred miles an hour. Wow!
That's so true! I couldn't point out what made him stand out compared to other drummers I've seen. His use of silence to add tension + the dynamics you mention are killer.
And if you're the real Jonas, then holy crap man! I've known you since the Shawn Lane days, you're a monster musician!
Facts 😂 man’s not human
Larnell's ability to use exactly what's needed for the desired effect is so impressive. I'm not even a drummer but his drumming is so impressive that I love specifically listening to the way he adds to the music, especially We Like It Here by Snarky Puppy. Perfection.
that last slap of the cymbals with the hands is the drumming equivalent to a mic drop :) most epic Larnell to date
Nate on percussion, Mono on bass and Larnell on drums... The holy trinity.

They need to nerf this combo
@@kimjennie6764 Video was removed! 😞

MonoNeon tho.....bout to make me groove myself into a neckbrace.
😜🤩🤩🤩
Very well put.
Noooicce
No joke man. Can't believe he's playing a right handed bass upside down like that!
You could raise baby kangaroos in that pocket damn.
Four years later, this is still the best thing on CZcams. Thank you, @LarnellLewisMusic!!!
6:06 when he does a live reverse-snare effect might be the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen
Yes! That is incredible thanks for pointing it out!!!!
ABSOLUTELY! My jaw dropped to the floor!
I’m not sure what’s going on, can you explain?
@@ozzysalas2005 Not native English speaker, but I’ll try to explain: he kind of rubs a stick on the hi-hat to create a crescendo then hits the snare, creating a sonic equivalent of a reverted snare sound of attack and decay (even though he doesn’t go as far as muting the snare head to prevent the real decay, but anyway). Hope that makes sense…
MonoNeon should be more recognized. Dude is literally the backbone of every performance!
Found out about him recently he is unbelievable then the dude gets on the keys and guitar too. He is a legend
*Mono* is definitely one of those fine players that *Davie504* just can't mess with.
@SonneMond102 davie is mainly a youtuber, not a full time musician, dont compare them both man
@@nipulkradmsinatagras8293 I mean who could?
who is mononeon? is it someone in the video? they should put a nametag on themselves or something XD
Told him the day before about that damn hi hat swell! 😭 smh knew the world would love it. Incredible to witness #genius

so nice to see how Aaron Spears tag Larnell Lewis at the end there. Rest Easy Aaron 🕊
Been 3 years ?? & i have not gotten tired of this performance. Shoutout GhostNote, Mr Larnell Lewis & Sput fr.
Because it's an absolutely perfect composition. Larnell is equally as good as Sput and Kaz at making a phenomenal track, but what he does in the solo is breathtaking.
Someone please help me! I watched this video over a hundred times and I watched every reaction video. I’m addicted and I need help!
Facts.
I kno this video features Larnell but to be fair All these musicians on that stage are absolutely incredible...and I mean savages!!!!
I LOVE GHOSTNOTE!!!!!!!
Agreed!
The squad is sick
Absolute God's... All of them!
TRULY AGREED!!!!!
That bassist looks like he came out of a Dr. Suess book but damn is he naaaasty.
Mononeon is awsome
As expected from a bassist that played with Prince!
He kinda looks like spike lee
Whoever mixed this series deserves just as many accolades. Perfection.
A.i .would love to be this funky!! Shit can never be simulated!💯
Did he just end that whole thing crashing with his hands? Incredible.
Royster Jr. at the end taking stack notes lol!!!
Well the word had hit the street. Tony is BACK with the Zildjian family. Zildjian Cymbals just posted about it!

1:53 - "DAMN MONO!"
I learn everything about feet and hands from this man …
I almost forgot to watch this today.
He did an 8-stroke on a single kick at that bpm, no lag. DAMN. 4:14
Mononeon's bassline from 2:30 is so good
Who's still watching this masterpiece? Every single one of these have been great. Truly great. But Larnell KILLED this one. The whole band was on fire for this whole performance. Unbelievable.
My favourites are the Thomas Pridgen and Larnell Lewis. What they play is just perfect.
I just got here.
Unethical groove from Mono. His effortless skill is just incredible. And good lord, don't get me started on Larnell. I need to sit down...
Damn us gooners have great taste
In the dimension that Mono comes from, that groove is of the highest ethical standards.
Mono is a whole conversation.
The 3rd verse section where he just straight up solos but actually keeps the groove going at the same time... i think my bass stank face did a full 360º inversion
These beats are so far they are morbidly obese...
Larnell Lewis + MonoNeon = The end of groove world.
6:44 this guy is living the moment to the max
They all killin' it so effortlessly! 🎵🎶🎵
This is fantastic. Also, MonoNeon is the truth.
wow thats deep man...
Actual facts
quickmanz ...this would pass any polygraph test! 😂
Too bad we never got to see MonoNeon perform with Prince.
As soon as I saw him I knew I was in for some good shit
Larnell is SUCH a killer player.
Tim, Will you transcribe this? that would be great!!!
Larnell has Changed my Mind
Wayne Shorter, Stanley Clark, from all the jazz singers, fusion, etc., you make everyone so proud!!! I really wish you well. I also wish that George Duke was alive to see this. Epic, you couldn't put a price on this ❤❤❤.
I just want to highlight the amount of Ego Control Larnell displays performing in a room full of other amazing drummers playing that “simple” groove from the verse, faithfully staying in the pocket letting the song/melody shine for what it is without trying to impress anyone, but enjoying the moment.
Slow clap for you Sr.
🙏 Thank you!!!
First Larnell is doing a simple and groovy beat ,then he goes crazy.
Keeping to the fundamental role of a being a drummer: Hold the groove 🙌🏼
that steve gadd restraint
Well he did write the original song so he knows what he's doing
For me Larnell Lewis is the best result of the "gospel drummers" generation
Arrigo Axia so is Sput.
Arrigo Axia I don’t think of him and spit as “Gospel” guys. They literally can play any style authentically
He's great but Rex Hardy Jr. by far
@@MrSixtysevencamaro Lol good joke!
No Eric Moore or Thomas Pridgen???
AND that's why Jazz drummers are the best drummers on the planet!!!
4:25 where it opens up gives me chills
Amazing, mind blowing, musical , loved every second
You were there
Best Zildjian commercial ever :-)
@Eric MooreII I see you on every drum vid! And it’s awesome to see how supportive you are of everyone.
2:30 Respect to MonoNeon for changing that feel to the song.
So true. I bought the original iTune file of this but it doesn’t have the groove that MonoNeon brought to it.
He is a monster dude
I think this is the best drum solo i have ever witnessed... It's full of soul! I was smiling tho whole time
This is not a drum solo though...
@@drumavenger83 there's more than one "mini drum solo" but anyway i think i've never cried for a drum performance, but this was so fucking powerful, there's so much joy and passion, this is what inspire good musicians
Dude is a BEAST
@Sergio Sanzone same. Cried during this multiple times. The music gets ya
@@drumavenger83I don’t think you know what a solo is lol. A solo is literally any part of a song where a particular instrument is highlighted. A solo can be improvised or not it makes no difference. A solo can be long or a solo can be a few seconds.
Or is it not even that deep and you for some reason think a solo needs to be performed literally physically alone on stage with 0 accompaniment or a band keeping the form 😂 tf even is this comment the more I think about it the stupider it gets lmao
What blows my mind is not just how creative and music Larnell is, but how fluent he is, both technically and in terms of phrasing/time/space/melody. It's impressive that he can have these ideas, but truly incomprehensible that he can execute them in real time, all in one take, in front of an audience, while grooving as hard and tastefully as Soan, Gadd, or Purdie. That's what makes him one of the greatest drummers in a generation.
With the amount of stank face in this room, you would imagine it's a skunk breeding ground 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
stank breeding ground
That SOLO tho.......
This whole arraignment was just one crazy Eargasm 🔥
I love how, to the untrained eye, Larnell over there taking it easy while the bassist fighting for his life.
Nah MONO got this😂
Seeing again for the 468 time... Perfect groove and solo Larnell.
Larnell said" let me show you how cold I am. I don't even need sticks for the ending."😂😂😂😂
His “Language” is INCREDIBLE!!!!
bro no lies!!
Brooooo!!! THAT PART
Touched my heart to see Aaron. RIP
At 2:31 it always feels like my brain literally starts to dance to the tune of Mono's bass 😩❤️
Welcome to the club 8D
Everyone has that one instrument they can’t help but notice above the rest it’s awesome 😎
Love the look on Larnell's face at 1:35 when he hears Xavier Taplin play those eerie notes on the synth. That must have been an impromptu, on the spot idea that Larnell noticed in the moment! Love that!
At 0:30 is officially the best fill I have ever heard.
SOMEONE HELP THIS MAN, HE'S ON FIREEEEEE!!!
Larnell Lewis is hands down the best drummer on the planet.
Aaron Spears: That’s how you play???
Larnell: “Gives humble laugh” with a hand shake
I LOVE IT!!! 😂😂😂
E 757 I had no words 🤣🤣🤣 🤷🏿♂️
Larnell Lewis Music hey larnell is there anywhere i can get a drumless track for this song?
That bass though! Great performance from everyone!
Christian Fleming MonoNeon. 😊
Bass is MonoNeon
this is arguably the best drum solo ever recorded
Doesn’t top “what about me” snarky puppy for me
Appart from Larnell being a beast on the drums, the keyboard solo by henry vkeys needs to be acknowledged, amazing.
I must admit I’m sad that the camera never finds the guy that played that jaw dropping guitar solo! 🙏 I know it’s about cymbals but everyone got showcased except him and he really deserved this one ☝️
Thats because the drums caught a flawless victory
@@falsestartfalcon The better video editing would have captured tall and not missed one element that shines as well. I agree with Rus. The one annoying flaw of the presentation but NOT the music
@@MegaRaven100 they shot the video from every angle possible...but this video is mostly drum cam. I'm sure they got him on the solo!!!

🙏🏿 Thanks!! It’s great for soundchecks in studio or on stage. You get each drum separately with full volume strokes and some cymbal action
I was looking for this time stamp🙌 ty
Gotta replay it slowmo
I totally agree with you. I’ve watched this a million times but never paid attention the other 999,999 times. So good Larnell!
This is one of these things when CZcams needs this holy shit button real hard.
Larnell seems to combine so many of the amazing qualities of other drummers into a cohesive style that is all his own. The fierce groove of the best old-school funk drummers, the dead-to-rights in to pocket playing of Gadd, the effortless intensity of Colaiuta, the playfulness of Carter Beauford. You could go on and on. Definitely one of the greatest players alive right now, IMO.
Sput on keyboards and MUSIC DIRECTOR... The Snarky Puppy team will never stop sorprising me. You blow my mind. Love
You know your a great musician and person when you get that kind of love from a lot of other great musicians. Respect to Larnell Lewis!
The happiness of music
Me revisiting this 4 years later and Still being Impressed with this Set as well as that Solo portion by Larnell!! Don't know how many times I Rewatched that Solo Part!! lol Legendary Stuff right there!! #SaluteKing
This bass player is NASTY.
Omg what a player. Some seriously deadly lines grooving through this tune.
Amazing
It's the afrobeat rhythm at 6:59. As a Nigerian I highly appreciate it
so sick how nate werth picked up on it w the cowbell too

Larnell Mans did a reverse cymbal LIVE!!!! WHAT SORCERY!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I see he sold his soul to Crowley in the front row for that one. Sweet Jesus, I can't count how many times I've watched this.
Every single time I watch this video... and I have literally seen it over a dozen times... I am AMAZED by this drummer! He does things by instinct that most drummers wouldn't imagine... FLAWLESSLY!!!
One of the greatest of all time... No discussion...
Johnathon Birch One of the greatest, what!???!??!!!!!
Nuff said....
You know you’re out there when the worlds best musicians react like teen fans to your playing
High level craftsmanship here from all the artist
To this date, Larnell is the best drummer to have ever been featured on Zildjian Live. The views attest to this fact.
Respectfully I disagree, he is the most popular but, Thomas Prigden is the best, and I would put larnell and Matt gartska in a tie for 2nd lol, he is a beast all 3 are!!!
Matt greiner smokes everybody
jd beck wins
Absolutely not. Aaron spears got them all beat
I have NEVER seen a man get a reverse effect sound from a hi-hat before.
I swear Larnelle just continues to push the kit further and further.
Bruh...Im not even a drummer and I was...awestruck at that moment. Amazing.
I know!!!! I’ve tried to point out that moment and even my other musician friends don’t recognize what I’m talking about....which tells me they don’t hear it--because once you do, it is absolutely incredible that he got THAT sound to happen at his command like that.
are you talking at 6:06 ? I had to listen to it again to catch it. UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE
If heaven dont have Larnell playing drums, i dont wanna go...... Period.
Thas is just unfair! Nate,Mono,Larnell and the rest of the band is the new generation of EARTH,WIND, AND FIRE!
Everyone is crediting the bassist, percussionist, etc. But what about the sound engineer :( they're super awesome as well. Also this is the video that introduces me to Larnell Lewis. Damn, what a beast!
It makes me proud to be a Drummer/Musician....when you can point to players like Larnell Lewis holding up the craft BIG TIME!!!!
Literally the best thing ive ever seen. All those drummers vibing together, its amazing to watch. Larnell is one of a kind!
I agree, it's so cool to see the drummer community come together like this to support each other. What a privilege to be a drummer and play drums. I love it 🔥🔥🔥
100%
I yelled quite a few times during this video, unreal energy, sped my heart up!
If you love drums, you have to love this man. Plays with such poise and passion, he loves playing and the fans definitely love watching.
His drumming for Lingus makes me just die of euphoria so much
Hands down…this the craziest drumming i have ever seen …
