      @@razzonii-chan-not-there2009 not really, I learned how to scoop on bari and alto sax in like 5 minutes and I learned how to overtone gliss on bari sax in like 3 minutes, I believe in you

    I play clarinet and i read trumpet parts most of the time and we're playing this in our high school jazz band (I have a part that doubles 3rd trombone) and I've never been so confused in my life lol but I really love this song.

      dude, if anything this is over tempo. The speed is high, but this composer didn't have enough balls to put the appropriate syncopations.

      @@SnavelsIt's a grade 2 piece so complex intonation and band wide syncopation is a bit too far. Different high schools have different levels of playing

    Does anyone know what the drummer has to do to produce that almost clicking sound in the intro? I'm trying to write a song with absolutely no knowledge of drum sets and THAT'S what I want

      it might also be a cross stick thing on the snare. which could be notated as CS. Im not a drummer, but I am a composer. A drummer might come on here with a better response, if so, listen to them.

      we used to play this arrangement in jazz band and our drummer would do a cross stick for the quarter notes and then play eighths like normal on the head

      No but 1:24 8va is fun. Going up to some double Gs especially at the solo section gives them a nice entrance and pays tribute to the Maynard version. (For anyone asking yes I am a high schooler)

      Oh, by the way, the arranger is Michael Sweeney. I played that arrangement last year in my school’s jazz band.

      Of course it is. Victor arranged difficult songs for more beginner bands. A simplified, easier version of a Jazz piece will never compare to the original.
