    Once again thank you very much for the uploaded video! Always a pleasure to watch 😃 According to FlightRadar24 probably filmed on 15th March 2024 😊As discussed during the approach a little bit strange coming in into AGP from the east (roughly HDG 270 along the coast line). Maybe there were some ATC or weather issues before. Anyway! All the videos are great for aviation enthusiasts! Thanks for your work. Have a good day and always happy landings! Lukas

      Thanks for watching and your good feedback! The flight was planned like this. No weather issues or so. Maybe the reason for this arrival was that the original assumption for the landing direction was to land from the sea. Then this arrival would have been the best solution.

    Beautiful approach and landing, as always! As you’ve probably noticed from the number of my comments, I look forward to your regular Saturday uploads! This channel never disappoints. I think it’s unfortunate people are being harsh about the audio, you go out of your way to provide stunning views and a chance to see what happens behind the cockpit door, all without the benefit of TV production equipment or editing. The majority of viewers are just grateful for the effort. If you’re able to lower the radio volume in future then great, if not it’s not a big deal!

      Thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciate that very much! In regard to the audio, I do not like the audio of this video at all. I had to exchange the main camera which also recorded most of the audio on the previous videos. The camera was aging and was not working properly anymore. The audio quality of this camera was always a no brainer. The new camera setup is different: It increases somehow in the analog digital converter the background audio noise level to an unacceptable value. Problem is that I can only check the results after the flight and can change and adjust the setup for the next flight day. I presently work on adjustments to the audio recording setup and record the audio also - whenever possible - with a dedicated audio recorder. Please stay tuned! Have a nice week!

    Haha, got to love the comment from the FO on the question "How was it?" - "Hmmm.... good 😬". It seemed very rushed behind the ATR, I was waiting for the go-around any second. Interesting to see how fast you reduced the speed.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před 19 dny +1

      Thanks for watching and for sharing comment! There was always a safe distance behind the ATR. Sure, the ATR was very slow. But due to our speed reduction, we were able to stay far enough away from the ATR. Landing clearance is only needed for touch down, not at the decision altitude. So there was even a little bit more time left. If you look up instrument approaches into Vienna and other large airports, you see airplanes aligned on final approach with this minimum distance all day. The A321 is very nice to fly and reduces speed quickly. This works in an A321 way better than in an A319.

    I like the instinctive muscle memory shown by your FO after commands given, I think it shows experience and good training at Eurowings. Hello from SIN/WSSS.
    - 12:26: FDs off; the FO looked to your FD switch and noticed you switched yours off already, before turning his own FD off as well,
    - 12:49: Geardown; the FO lowered the landing gear and immediately reached to arm the spoilers, before noticing you had speed brakes in use still,
    - 13:26: Flaps full, the FO afterwards immediately goes into MCDU to check for VLS.

    Great Video as always. One question: What do you compare when you do the VLS check? The VLS assigned in the FMS appr Phase, the Wind? And how do you decide how many knots you add to the VAPP?

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před 18 dny +1

      Thanks a lot for watching and for your support of the channel as a member! We compare for the VLS check the VLS which is displayed on the PFD with the VLS which is displayed on the MCDU. If the VLS on the PFD is higher, we add the difference between both VLS-speeds to the approach speed in the MCDU. Both VLS have - depending on the airplane hard and software - different sources. The PFD VLS is calculated by the FAC on the basis of aerodynamical data (measured angle of attack and our entered CG from the loadsheet). The VLS on the MCDU is calculated on the basis of the entered zero fuel weight from the loadsheet plus the remaining fuel.

    Just had two flight experiences 2 days ago. One was SAAB 340. The very young pilot landed with a huge bump but coming home time a more experienced pilot landed very smoothly but he was driving the plane like a car especially turns - at top speed didn't even know you could move a plane like that fast! Then Jetstar 320 coming home time had to battle monumental amount of clouds so for the first time the plane took a route over the sea for extended periods until reaching the airport and landed from the side they usually take off from. Since watching these videos I can't help but do a commentary on each move to my kids' bemusement such as 1000, 500, minimums 50, 40, 30 retard and the plane lands or as soon as it starts its run up I count in seconds and say V1 and it takes off - very close to being perfect and I have no instruments - you trained me well Capt Buntenbach LOL

      Thank you so much for watching and your support of the channel as a member! I am doing welI, thanks for asking and your good feedback about my landing. I apologize for the audio quality. I do not like the audio at all. One of the reasons is a new camera which records also the cockpit interphone audio and does amplify backgound noise to an unacceptable level. I did some adjustments, but it is still not ok. The bad thing is that I cannot monitor the results instantly. I only can check them after the flight and do more adjustments prior to the next flight. Sadly, my other audio recording camera sometimes records no audio at all. So I just exchanged the analog digital audio converter of the camera. The final solution may be that I have to record the audio always separately with an external audio recorder. Have a nice day!

    Bad audio or not still a great video Captain and please keep them coming. I knew that there was speed difference between A321 and ATR but I didn't realise how huge the difference is. Also a separete question captain, I flew on a A320 the other day and after the plane landed and was taxing into the gate, there was a dog like barking sound. Is that the fuels pumps being shut down?

    • @timotheeteneur8030
      @timotheeteneur8030 Před 20 dny +1

      That sound you describe is the PTU, most likely one engine was shut down while taxiing after the 3min cooldown period, just like in this video.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před 19 dny

      I am sorry about the audio! The recording equipment had to be changed and did not work as expected. I currently work on future improvements. Yes, the ATR was slow, but we also slowed down early to keep enough distance. As already explained by another viewer, the noise you heard may have been the hydraulic PTU (power transfer unit). During single engine taxi in, it may switch on to transfer hydraulic power from the green to the yellow system. To avoid this, we usually switch on the yellow electric hydraulic pump. Then the yellow hydraulic system has an own power source, even with the right engine off.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před 20 dny +3

      Thanks for watching and your good feedback! Yes, it was a steep approach, but all in limits. We did not violate any descent rate limits or so. The reason for being high were the obstacles on our way to the final approach which we discussed in the briefing. We could have descended a little earlier to 3000 feet. I would say after passing radial 320 from AGP VOR.

      Thanks for watching and for sharing your feedback! Alpha FLOOR protection activation is based on a very high angle of attack, usually during very low speed with not enough power set. There is no indication of a speed for this available. It is only based on the angle of attack. What you see here is that the VLS moved up by a good amount due to the extension of the full speedbrakes.

    Landing clearance right before, that was close thanks to the ATR! Have you had any diversions? That would be very interesting to see. 😅
    In other news, I had to dispatch an A319 with right MCDU out the other day, I was so mad lol 😤

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před 19 dny +1

      We have to have a landing clearance only for touchdown, not at the minimum descent altitude or the decision altitude. Distance was not that far, but there was still some time left for the landing clearance. Diversions and go arounds are very rare. I did my last diversion about 7 years ago. This was Funchal to Porto Santo because of too much wind in Funchal. The wind in Funchal was out of limits for hours and no landing allowed. Funchal was also the location of my last go around a few months ago due to windshear. The second approach was successful. A broken MCDU is not really nice but no big deal for a few flights. If the right MCDU is broken, the Captain has to do all the inputs. Have a nice day!

    Sehr schönes Video, wie immer! :) Ich finde ja den Approach in Spanien, Griechenland etc. immer sehr schick, vor allem wenn man, wie z.B. in Malaga, über diese Berge fliegt. Gab es eigentlich einen Grund für den Visual? Weil ihr hattet ja erst noch ein ILS bzw. auch kurz den APPR mode mit CAT 3 Single. - Also war ja erst ein ILS geplant.
    Lange Haare, kurzer Sinn, - schöne Landung! Ich werde wohl Ende Juni in LEMG sein. Eurowings fliegt ja ab jetzt auch vom HAJ dort hin.

      Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen und das gute Feedback! Auch mir gefallen Anflüge über Berge ganz gut. Flugplätze mit einer Kombination von Wasser und Bergen sind immer besonders schön. Wenn immer möglich, bevorzuge ich einen Anflug nach Sicht: Der ist kürzer. Deshalb wird weniger Sprit verbraucht und es gibt weniger Emissionen. Außerdem macht es Spaß, einen Anflug nach Sicht zu fliegen. Im Briefing haben wir das ILS besprochen, allerdings auch die Möglichkeit eines Sichtanfluges in Erwägung gezogen. Ich wünsche viel Spaß in Malaga im Juni!

      @@ApproachandDepartureVideos Definitiv. Ich fliege auch (im Simulator) immer gerne Visuals. Allerdings ist das in echt fast sogar einfacher, da man 2 Piloten hat, und nicht alleine im Cockpit ist. Deswegen fliege ich auch eher selten einen Visual, weil das einfach nicht sehr einfach ist alles allein zu machen.
      Danke dir! :)

      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před 19 dny

      Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen und das gute Feedback! Man gewöhnt sich daran, das Callsign herauszuhören und auch mitzubekommen, welche Anweisungen die Flugzeuge vor und hinter uns bekommen. Ein Anflug nach Sicht ist immer kürzer als ein Instrumentenanflug. Das spart Zeit und Sprit und vermindert die Emissionen. Außerdem macht es mehr Spaß, einen Anflug nach Sicht zu fliegen.

    Landing clearance 30ft before the minimum :D

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před 19 dny +1

      This is correct. Most people believe that we have to have a landing clearance at the minimum. But this is not the case. At the minimum, we have to be able to see the approach lights or the runway …. to continue the approach. To confirm this, you hear us saying „continue“ at the minimum. We have to have the landing clearance latest before touchdown..

    selbst nach vielen luftfahrtvideo's finde ich rollfeld arbeiten hinterfragungswürdig ( mit 200km/h aufsetzen und dann mit mofa speed bis zum parkplatz) da is nix los , da würde ich vor so einem jet kein diesel zum hinterherfahren wollen ( fliegen ist energie intensiv da sollte nochmehr gespart werden indem piloten nach sicht auf'n feld rollen )

    • @niente-.-7117
      @niente-.-7117 Před 20 dny +2

      Du hast definitiv Recht, dass Fliegen "energie intensiv" ist und ich denke auch, dass wir alle versuchen sollten den Kerosinverbrauch zu minimalisieren.
      Um diesem Ziel entgegen zu wirken, denke ich jedoch nicht, dass es eine gute Idee wäre, wenn jeder auf Sicht rollt, selbst wenn auf dem Vorfeld nicht viel los ist. Um den Verkehr zu regeln ist der Fluglotse da, ohne ihn würde Chaos entstehen.
      Die Wartezeit vor L2 bei 20:00 hätte vielleicht vermieden werden können, wenn der Tower-Lotse den Piloten schon früher den Frequenzwechsel zum Ground-Controller genehmigt hätte, einfach "nach Sicht" über L2 ohne Freigabe weiter zu rollen, nur weil gerade kein Verkehr zu sehen ist, wäre aber nicht richtig.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před 19 dny +1

      Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen und den Kommentar! In der Luftfahrt ist alles auf größtmögliche Sicherheit ausgelegt. Darüber hinaus haben Flugzeuge keinen Rückwärtsgang und brauchen einen Moment bis sie zum Stillstand kommen. Der Fluglotse, der den Verkehr am Boden regelt, ist ein wichtiges Element, um einen sicheren Flugbetrieb darzustellen. Klar, manchmal muss man warten und fragt sich warum. Aber besser etwas warten als später einem anderen Flugzeug oder einem Bodenfahrzeug zu nahe zu kommen. Der Fluglotse hat die komplette Übersicht, die wir nicht haben können. Wir sind auf dem Flug mit etwa 260 Stundenkilometer aufgesetzt. Beim Rollen wollen wir aus Sicherheitsgründen und für den Komfort unserer Fluggäste nicht über 30 Knoten schnell sein. Das sind etwa 55 Kilometer pro Stunde. In scharfen Kurven nicht mehr als 18 Kilometer pro Stunde. Das ist allerdings oft zu schnell. Wir wollen ja auch das Material, also unsere Bugradlenkung nicht unnötig belasten und plötzliches starkes Bremsen vermeiden.

      so ein 1,9 liter diesel nur für diese paar meter vorrollen zu lassen obwohl unsere piloten es selbstständig "auf sicht und mit nasenradar" (piloten haben drei einstellungen für das "zweite display" ) erledigen können , finde ich zu teuer , wirkt verschwendungssüchtig !!!

      We usually do 2 or 4 flights a day. The flights are always equally shared. So half of the takeoffs, landings and approaches are done by the First Officer and the other half is done by me. On this channel are plenty of videos, even full flight videos which show the First Officer as pilot flying.
