    You saved my wisdom tooth Dr Paul. I had intense pain and mild swelling coming from one of my wisdom teeth for the past few days. It turns out there was a piece of food stuck under the gum, just like you said. I am not able to get an appointment with a dentist for one week. So your insights have saved me, thank you.

    • @JoshAus
      @JoshAus Před rokem +2

      @@lotachukwumagerate1934 First I took the pain killer prescribed by Dr Paul in this video. After a few hours the pain had reduced enough for me to open my mouth fully. It was then that I saw that piece of food under my gum. From there I turned on my electric toothbrush and brushed my wisdom tooth for about 5 minutes. First straight down on the wisdom tooth, this dislodged a large portion of the food. I then turned the brush so that the bristles were going under my gum (or at least as close to that as I could get), and got a fair bit more out. After that, I used the mouth wash prescribed by Dr Paul in this video. I repeated this process for one week (slowly reducing the amount of time I would brush, back to my usual two minutes). After the first brush the intense pain never came back. After the third day the mild swelling around my wisdom tooth and jaw started to reduce. After one week, I was 100% again... although my wisdom tooth is still looking a bit dirty from not being brushed properly for many years.

    • @DrPaulsDentalWorld
      @DrPaulsDentalWorld  Před 2 lety +2

      Ye it's frustrating that's dentistry is expensive. There are lots of reasons why it is, but I won't go into that.
      I'm playing devil's advocate here - I find sometimes that people who complain about the cost of dentistry, turn out to also have the latest phone or TV, a subscription service to Netflix etc.. and I can't help but feeling like if some of that money ($20/wk for example) was put aside for the teeth, although expensive, they would be able to afford it. Just a thought

      They do and your videos are awesome. I mean I am saving up for my impacted wisdom teeth to be removed. I've already been talking to a dentist at Aspen dental near where I live. And I was being a little hyperbolic, rn I'm just in a tough spot financially and recently it's felt unaffordable but soon I'm gonna be grinding to get all my extractions and my dentures. They told me at 23 I need dentures which honestly I don't mind. The pain is just insane and I'm scared of getting a absess cause recently the pain has been impacting my jaw and ears more. Sorry this was kinda a ramble but your a awesome guy. I'm gonna look into that temporary tooth putty. Might help with some of my teeth that are exposed

      Hey Victoria, good question. Probably not then.
      You may find relief from pain medications like paracetamol (acetaminophen) and ibuprofen which is anti inflammatory. If it is from the wisdom teeth coming through and putting pressure, it may just be something that passes with time and pain relief in the meantime might help.

      Try oil pulling, a teaspoon of coconut oil, swish around with saliva in your mouth for 5 minutes, spit it outside and not in the basin because it's oil...Rinse out with water.
      You can do this as many times as you want, I recommend twice works well.... use this twice a day. Bentonite clay is good for brushing your teeth, it doesn't taste good but it works..also Baking soda toothpaste is great...these are all natural products and can help you until you see a dentist.

Another option make a paste w/clove powder and olive oil put paste near ur toothache and leave it there. Repeat when necessary. Also I wrap my head tightly to also ease the pain. Still go to the dentist to get tooth removed when you have time.

    I'm currently in tooth pain hell! I have been trying to work the system for 3 yrs. I am in massive pain but require a hospital dentist and there are so few of them that the waitlists are years long. I was last told 4-6 years. By then I would be dead! I am only in this situation because dentists all turned me away due to allergies to materials, medication, dysphagia, arrhythmias, blood pressure, etc. My quality of life is horrible. I'm on my 3rd round of antibiotics in about 6 months. I've needed root canals, had broken, exposed nerve teeth, old fillings, issues from negligent dental work, wisdom teeth pushing on my exposed, broken, rotting teeth and causing excruciating pain in my jaw, ear, gland, neck, teeth, gums, and head. There are only a handful of hospital dentists. The world needs more for special needs/ people with disabilities, etc. We need a better healthcare system that supports and includes dental health including crowns and things needed to keep teeth and the jaw healthy. My jaw is misaligned, my cheeks are caving and I am STILL looking for help. The doctors, dentists, and insurance bounce it back and forth to you. If anyone is in the dental field, social work, medical world or anything that can help with these things it would really be appreciated especially at a state/county /medicaid/medicare/medical level. • @DrPaulsDentalWorld
      @DrPaulsDentalWorld  Před 2 lety +4

      Hmm, sounds like you should have it removed.
      In terms of difficulty/pain/healing with the extraction, age is a factor, but it doesn't change things too much. Under 25, the bone is a little softer so the teeth can come out easier, but each tooth and situation is different. If the tooth is out of the gum a little, that can make it a little easier than ones that are under the gum.

      In regards to the pain, what triggers the pain? Is it getting any worse, better, or the same?
      Are you sure it is from the wisdom tooth?
      Are you saying the upper or the lower wisdom tooth moved lower?

    I currently have two wisdom teeth growing in (the bottom two) and both have had growing pains in the past, some swelling and discomfort but It always passed in a few days, now, it’s only day 3 of the pains but it’s worse than usual. It is definitely a gum issue and not a tooth one, because I have that gum flap over one of the crowns, and it’s red and swelling. The pain is particularly worse because it hurts to swallow (my tongue pushes against the gums), smile, talk sometimes, yawn, eat, open my mouth etc. and I have tried pain killers, I’ve packs, gently brushing the area and putting some tissues at the area to prevent me from biting on the gums, but it all hurts the same amount as it did before all of that. (Not sure if this matters but my wisdom teeth according to my dentist are growing in relatively straight.) idk what to do, and if I should be worried about it.
