I can’t believe that I just walked into the office, had an IV put into my arm, passed out after about 16 seconds of anesthesia, and then woke up with all of my wisdoms gone. I wasn’t even that high, I was back to normal after five minutes of bed rest. For anyone going to go through this, don’t worry, the worst part (if it even happens) is having the anesthesiologist miss your vein 3 times while trying to put in the IV needle. About eight hours later and several gauze tissues and I’m feeling good.

I was denied sedation for my wonderful extraction experience. I had to endure the local anesthetic. That was actually far, far worse than the extraction itself. Being wide awake for the experience is a whole wonderful world of imagination fuel. Seeing this video and seeing how the typical procedure is done really solves that issue lol Having them removed really is a life changing experience, though. Solved all of my oral pain and infection issues completely. You never really think about how a tooth you can’t even see can cause so many excruciating problems and cause your other teeth to actually rot in your mouth despite being an avid brusher.

Some people never have their wisdom teeth develop into a problem at all and they just lay there their whole lives. I however was not that fortunate. at 18 I kept telling my parents that my wisdom teeth had come in and I needed them removed. One of them had pierced my gums and was starting to kill my molar. I told them for like 2 years, they didn't listen until I was 24. Now I'm missing 6 back teeth including the useless ones.

During my wisdom tooth surgery, I didn’t want to take any chances and took anesthesia gas. For those who are about to get their teeth removed, go with the full anesthesia, it’s your best friend. Your vision goes black for like three seconds, and when it comes back, the procedure is done.

  • @billyboberto
    @billyboberto Před rokem +1

In case anyone is wondering: this video is rather vague and does not encompass procedures normally included such as:
    1. Bone Grafting - if your jaw can support the additional bone tissue, it is highly recommended to ensure your jaw heals and prevents any anomalies such as tooth movement or injury. Note this is VERY painful afterwards as dentists will pack as deep as possible.
    2. Abscess cleaning - if the wisdom tooth has large cavities (its common such to be the case with soda drinkers), then there is a chance there is an infection or abscess in the gum tissue. You may also get a gingivectomy if the infection was widespread. This will make the healing process smoother but will take more time to heal.
I had every possible issue occur with my wisdom teeth - infections, 1 partial impact, and 1 was putting a lot of pressure on the tooth in front of it and was on local anesthesia so about an hour into the procedure I was in aching pain and looking pretty bad lol.
Wisdom teeth extraction, depending on your situation geographically, may be a hell of an expensive procedure. I was charged about $2600 total, all 4 teeth, bone grafts, gingivectomy, a root canal on the tooth getting pressure, insurance only covered some of it, so be prepared if you aren't on a NHS plan in the EU or in Japan

For people in south Texas, The Surgical Arts Center in San Antonio did a phenomenal job.
I had all 4 teeth extracted back in 2017. The doctors were all so kind and made sure I was comfortable before surgery. After surgery, I was wheeled out to my car and my mother and sister received my after surgery care instructions both printed out and verbally given along with my pain meds.
I had a two hour drive home and enjoyed a Frosty from Wendy’s, half of the Icecream ended on my face and chest before I realized it because I couldn’t feel it lol but I had a blast as the laughing gas was wearing out.
I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort (I still continued to take the medicine though) and started eating regularly about two days after surgery.
I made the mistake of wearing Jeans. What they didn’t tell me was it was going to be very cold inside. So, Jeggings or pajama pants with some leggings underneath is something I recommend. Thinking about wearing pajamas in public is very embarrassing to me but you’re about to undergo surgery, who cares what is worn? You’re gonna be loopy anyway, mind as well be loopy and comfy. Wear what makes you comfortable and if you’re a little scared before surgery, there is no shame with bringing something that will calm you down. Like a stuffed toy or blanket. Also, if they allow family members to wait in the waiting room, please bring a jacket or a blanket. My mom said she was freezing inside and she and my sister took turns going outside to warm up.

Ok, so I got my teeth out about 12 hours ago, and I’ll write down my experience for those who are concerned.
The most annoying part was the waiting room, we literally waited for an hour, and then another half an hour in the procedure room. The nurses that took care of me were super nice. They’ll come in, use a few stickers on your arm or stomach to monitor pulse, check your blood pressure a few times, and use a finger pulse thingy. Before the surgery when I began to cry at first (I had a past trauma related to surgery) she was super sweet and held my hand. First, they give you a small mask that goes over your nose (you can still breathe from your mouth). At first I’ll just be oxygen, just to get you acclimated. Then, they will add some Nitrous Oxide (N2O) which wont our you to sleep, but will make you feel like your limbs and whatnot have fallen asleep (but it’s super super mild. It’s just a buzz). Once that’s through, they’ll give you an IV (arm needle) and gradually add some sleeping medication. You’ll be out in under thirty seconds. If they tell you you’ll be semi conscious or in a “twilight zone,” that’s bs. You will be out cold, and wake up in a relaxed state without any recollection of anything (with a numb mouth full of gauze). It doesn’t really hurt then, it’s just kind of uncomfortable. You can talk but you’ll sound pretty weird, and you probably shouldn’t do it. They might give you a treat when you leave (I got super good caramel ice cream). Your face can my numb anywhere from 2 hours to 12 (I’m currently on my 12th hour...) and that’s all I have to offer.
This was just my personal experience, it might be a little different for you, but I hope it goes as well as mine did. It’s actually nothing to worry about, if you’re panicking! It’s literally just some gas (dRuGs), a funny shot, a nap, and some discomfort for a few days (and a whole lot of ice cream and Mac and cheese). Don’t worry about it!

UPDATE: Ten days after the procedure and things are basically normal. I ate chicken tenders at A&W with no problems.
The days prior, my face had swelled up until I looked like Jimmy Neutron--borderline Carl Wheezer. I was putting ice on my face almost all the time which I _assume_ helped, but it was really hard to tell for sure. The coolness felt nice at least. The swelling and the pain got better on day 7, significantly better on day 8 and it's back to normal by 10. My cheeks were yellow for a while though (the last 3 days), like someone had smeared a highlighter on my cheeks and rubbed it around. (Bruising.) I'm not on any more ibuprofen (or perscribed antibiotics) since there really isn't much real pain besides a bit of ache-y discomfort that migrates around the bone near the surgery sites. It's weird, like one day the bottom right hurts, then the bottom left, and today it's the upper right. Definitely and easily tolerable.
The only complications I had were just kanker sores, and that just runs in my family. They were particularly bad back near the sites. I'll make one more update on they day I feel completely normal again, until then, I'm open for q and a.

Ah yes, I had my wisdom teeth removed under local anaesthetic 20 years ago. It's really not that bad, local means you are conscious during the operation but extremely suggestible and don't give a shit what is happening. I remember hearing the noise of the wisdom teeth breaking through my skull and not caring at all! After the operation the nurses had difficulty getting me to stand up and walk to the waiting room. My dad drove me 2 hours to their house and I slept the whole way, then a couple of hours when I got there. I had the components for a new PC delivered to their place, so 4 hours after the operation I successfully built a new PC. Local really does wear off very quickly. Didn't have much post-op pain, honestly the infections and trouble I had before getting them taken out were worse.

In case anyone is wondering how the procedure is usually done here in Switzerland (and Germany), here is my experience:
Your doctor will suggest doing it in two sessions, one side per session so two teeth at once.
This is recommended since you will not only be fully awake during the removal but so you can start eating soft and "normal hard" food again faster.
(My doctor specifically told me not to eat extremely hard food for 8 weeks since one of my wisdom teeth was rotated 90° and he had to remove a good chunk of bone so the chances of accidentally cracking my own jaw with very hard food at the beginning of recovery was very high)
And no, you don't feel ANY pain even while being awake, you will get enough local anesthetics to not only be numb DURING but also 2 or 3 hours AFTER the surgery and my doctor even gives me painkillers at the beginning in form of a pull which take about 1 hour to activate so that I won't have any pain directly after the removal.
After all that, you get painkillers just in case which you can take 4 to 5 daily as you feel needed and some sort of anti bacterial mouth wash since you shouldn't rinse your mouth after the removal.
Yes you might bleed after the surgery which is very common and is not a problem as long as it stops after 30 minutes if you but a towel like thing (don't know the name in English) between your upper and lower teeth/gums.
For me the worst part were the needles since I have a huge f*ing fear of them and almost anytime pass out if I get a shot or have to get blood drawn.
If you have any questions feel free to ask me :)

Muffin Puff that’s too early eruption. That might be a 2nd molar not 3rd molar (wisdom teeth) I believe. Usually that erupts between 18-23 years or later. If you got 3rd molar by 12 than that’s too quick growth. Your growth spurt is too early than normal population.

I only had three wisdom teeth and I've had them all removed. The first two were pulled out completely by my former dentist, and even though they weren't completely erupted, the pain didn't last longer than a couple days and healed pretty quick. The last one was fully erupted but was broken and partially removed by a different dentist. That one did hurt for several days and it took weeks, almost months, to heal completely and to this day I still have occasional pain where the tooth used to be.

Advice for y’all getting your wisdom teeth out: take their instructions on what to not eat VERY SERIOUSLY. DONT EAT OR DRINK STUFF WITH SEEDS OR OTHER TINY THINGS. I ate raspberry yogurt without realizing there were seeds and it got stuck in the holes in my gums and they had to go back in and flush it out with olive oil or something, tasted like crap and hurt really bad and was really gross.

Got all 4 of mine taken out at once. Opted for laughing gas, because at the time I wasn't a fan of needles and didn't want an IV. I have nothing to complain about regarding the procedure. There were some moments where the local anesthesia started to wear off and some pain came momentarily, but the gas made me literally not even care. I clearly remember feeling the pain for a few seconds and simply not caring in the slightest.
