Nova was signed to Def Jam, a while back. They were grooming her tobe a ‘Brittany Spears/Beastie Boys’ hybrid. This is not who Nova is but it was the Nova they wanted. When they dropped her from the label, they stabbed her in the back (she found out when the apartment manager told her the label wasn’t paying her rent). She swore she would never touch a keyboard again - That is the significance of the piano in the video, she is ready to play it again but as the “New and True” Nova.
If you replace “HEY YOU” with “Yo, Def Jam 🖕🏼”, you get a sense of what Message Nova is trying to convey to them.

Nova seems amazingly talented, both in rap/lyrics and video production.
If you want to see where she came from, you can watch both versions of Problem. Back when she was signed there was an official video produced for it. And she was also recorded performing it at some radio show in flip flops. One of those is vastly superior 🙃

Both Tom and Nova are surgeons. They have a knack of cutting the top of our skulls off, scooping out all the thoughts, hopes, dreams, fears and then molding them into amazing songs that say what was in our heads. I doesn't really even matter whether we are men or women.

Liked the reaction! "Hey You" is referencing and directed at Def Jam, who she was signed to before they screwed her, so she went independent, and this song is a response. "Do you like my style, i got it from somebody i killed?" is her saying she killed her old self that was restrained by the system while retaining the essence of her style. There's so many new people to Nova (past 5 yrs). Hardly anybody knew of her cause the Music Industry did there jobs by cutting her out, they canceled her before canceling became popular. I discovered Nova in 2012 and I've been following her for 11 years now, she is absolutely fire and I was so excited when she came back. Thanks to Tom for encouraging Nova to make music and as expected she shines like a true female rap artist should be.
A bit of a history on Nova. How she got the name Nova Rockafeller. People assume that Nova is related to the Rock(e)fellers cause of the Rock(a)feller part and dont see the spelling differences, but she has no relation to them at all and her real name is Nova Leigh Paholek. Rockafeller was given to her by a group of rappers at a party that she was at, whom came up with the name Rock-a-feller, cause she rocks fellas on a mic. This was a lil bit before signing to Mercury Records which merged into Island Records and then finally merging into Def Jam Records before the label dropped her for no reason. She discovered this by her landlord at that time, when that landlord told her that her rent money was back due by months and will get evicted if she didn't pay the back due rent. Her ex-record lable was paying her rent (this is how the music industry works they pay your bills). They wanted Nova to be a lewd female rap artist and Nova not wanting to dress up in short skimpy outfits showing off her body. She did 2 or 3 videos like this and felt disgusted and degraded because all the record labeled wanted to do was use her as a sex appeal and not for her lyrical skills. Nova is a Tom-boy pun attended, lol.
