Sad truth. We shouldn't torelate parasitic behavioral patterns of our family, relatives & friends. Sometimes we become a villain in their eyes when we didn't give them what they want.

It's the crab mentality, they will really find a way to destroy you in the workplace abroad or Philippines. đŸ˜Ș When you appreciate their beauty, they'll say because we have Spanish blood instead of saying because we are Filipinos. Even a drop of European blood is like royalty badge to Filipinos đŸ€Ł

Fun fact: I decided to forego all of this culture and do my own thing. It worked for me.

Ginawa akong bank at retirement fund ng parents ko. Still am. Wala nman kc choice kc old na sila na walang pension or savings and stuff. They put me through school until 1st year college. So, parang ayun, I have to pay it back. 😬 So, my sweldo still goes to the family expenses and I don't have savings myself. At I'm 35 now and pretty much caregiver mode to my parents while also still working to put food on the table and buy medicine. I promised myself I would never settle down and have my own family until I'm financially stable, and at this point, I'll probably just die alone. I won't ever want to put a kid in this world na gagawin ko lng sa kanila ginawa sakin ng magulang ko.

same huhu!! ginawa na ako retirement fund ng nanay ko! kahit mataas sahod ko wla napupunta sakin kse binigay ko na lahat. sobrang guilt trip and manipulation ginawa sakin kse naaawa ako. katagalan after years of working wla naman ako napundar . inadvance nya na 5 years ng sahod ko tpos mnghihingi pa , then sasabihin kuripot dw ako at wla utang na loob. kaya d ako makapag settle down kse ung sahod ko kakapiranggot nlng.

I agree, not to bash our culture pero tama ka. I am proud to be Pilipino. However, we should acknowledge yung flaws natin. This topic is "always the elephant in the room." Minsan if I mention ito sa mga relatives at friends ko, most of them becomes defensive, they response na "Akala mo kung sino kang perfect". I live in California, and I can see sa mga anak ko (3) na iba ang diciplina nila. Pero they are still proud of being Pilipino-American. We need to change so that Philippines can be a better country.

The problem with Filipinos is they do not know how to graciously handle criticism. They’re too quick to get emotional. Self reflection and resolving internal issues is not your strong suit. It’s a huge toxic part of Filipino culture

Na overuse Ang word na gaslighting. Gaslighting is a very specific form of mental manipulation wherein you convince the victim that something happened when it really didn't or vice versa where you convince the victim that an event didn't happen when in fact it did.
