In 74 I was 12 when I first found an uncle's Cosmos Factory album along with others n fell in love with their music, I've listened to their music most of my life n still do, it's even better now that we're able to watch their YT videos. They've definitely gotten me thru some difficult times. Sometimes I wish I had been able to have watched them perform in person, I love watching ppl play their instruments n sing. In the past, here on our Reservation, we've had several Native American country n rock bands who had played for dances n sometimes for funerals. Ppl are so blessed to be gifted in playing guitars, drums, harmonica, etc. I had even spoken about forming an all female band, back in high sch I was the lead clarinet player in band, for the life of me I couldn't read or write certain notes, I was only able to play the notes by looking at them really good, I dunno how I was able to pass band with high grades! I must have a weird brain, but then I've watched videos of famous musicians who had/have this similar problem, they can play music only by looking at the notes. I have the utmost respect for those who have the gift to write music, especially for all of the instruments.
      God bless*

It was a very difficult situation when it became apparent that John Fogerty was the creative force that was driving the band. His song writing , vocals and guitar playing were simply the focal point in all the songs. The other band members were supporting members but were unable to match his skills as a song writer. And from there a bitterness grew and the division occurred . Same thing happened with Grand Funk Railroad only worse as later on Don Brewer managed a signature out of Marc Farner which now denies him ANY rights to the songs he wrote. The Billboard Top 10/100 shouldn't be any measure of an artist's greatness. In the late 60's and early 70's there was a lot of artists putting out legendary music. There was a lot of competition for number 1 plus the fact that there was crossover from Country, Folk, Motown/Soul etc. During Michael Jackson's run, for example, Pop music was no where near that level. CCR owned the Summer of 1969. I always gave John Fogerty respect because he served in the Military like Hendrix, Elvis, Tommy and Toy Caldwell (Marshal Tucker Band) etc. He has been consistent in supporting our Veterans even though I disagree with his politics.

The other band members didn't sell their voting rights in the band until 1988, after Zaentz sowed some extra dissension between the band members and also took advantage of the news that Tom Fogerty was essentially dying. Zaentz was all about squeezing as much money as possible out of CCR, and owning the majority of the voting rights allowed him to license all of CCR's songs to movies and advertising, earning him even more piles of money since he owned the rights to the songs. Without Zaentz manipulating the members of CCR, adding tension to the band, and signing them to a very long and exploitative contract, who knows - perhaps CCR would've stayed together. We'll never know. In any case, Zaentz was a major factor to the band's problems.
(John wrote a couple of songs about Zaentz on his "Centerfield" album - "Vanz (Zanz) Kant Danz" and "Mr. Greed".)

Huge mistake not to include CCR in the Woodstock movie. The biggest band in America and they gave a great performance. Fortunate Son was more about the Draft and entitled, corrupt politicians using the war to make profits than antiwar. The Draft was the issue. Americans didn't back down to Communism but we felt the government had let us down. Blame LBJ and the Democrats. Whatever, it's become a staple of Vietnam era films and an easy go-to for mediocre producers.

Thank God John Fogerty was against a reunion. I am sick of old musicians not knowing when to hang it up.

Some of us still like them. CCR were my parents's generation, but still.

@@jk-76 all these big bands have like 10 songs that are good. Beatles, Elton John, Rolling Stones ... Only CCR song I like is "Fortunate Son"

That is my point. Even those bands with 10 hits get sounding like bad karaoke. Led Zepplin did us a favor not keeping it going. There are exceptions, Sammy Hagar still sounds great. I was never a big fan but I would pay to see him live. AC/DC still r9cks but they also need to stop.
