- The Tiny Desk is working from home for the foreseeable future. Introducing NPR Music's Tiny Desk (home) concerts, bringing you performances from across the country and the world. It's the same spirit - stripped-down sets, an intimate setting - just a different space.
April 24, 2020 | Bob Boilen -- When John Fogerty breaks out his baseball bat guitar and swings into that famous guitar lick from "Centerfield" to open his Tiny Desk (home) concert, I can almost taste the Cracker Jacks. Welcome to Fogerty's Factory, the tricked-out basement where the Fogerty Family (John, his sons Tyler and Shane, and his daughter Kelsy) make music in these quarantined times. His desk is the road case his band Creedence Clearwater Revival used when they played Woodstock, and John shows off a guitar he played at the festival as well. He plays three of his CCR classics from 50 years ago (still singing in the same key), surrounded by family and sending out words of encouragement to all of us.
SET LIST
"Centerfield"
"Down On The Corner"
"Long As I Can See The Light"
"Proud Mary" - Hudba
Tiny Desk Concerts - and all that NPR offers you free of charge - are only possible through donations from our community. If you value what we're doing during these unprecedented times, you can keep the Tiny Desk going by acting now. Donate to your local NPR station at n.pr/support-the-tiny-desk
I'm now a Senior -- surely one of John C. Fogerty's original fans. I'm rooting for him now just as I always have -- and he still has "IT"!!! Thank you for bringing this mini-concert to all of us. :-)

Gotta look up who wrote that.

Come back john
I was drafted in 1970, CCR helped me get thru some trying times, I wasn't a chosen son!! I think John Fogerty is a great human being, has a great heart, & is a great father!! Thank you for being the person you are!!!!
@@sylviaanderson3418 I am too, greetings from Germany ;-)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN FOGERTY!!!! 79 YEARS-OLD ON THIS DAY, MAY 28, 2024!!! God bless you John, and thank you for the great music you have given to the world!
John Fogerty is a legend. Singing in the same key, and rockin the same flannels 50 years later. Remarkable. Also, it's worth noting, John playing with his family is, in my opinion, the ultimate squad goals!
We agree on the squad goals. Pretty awesome!
Well said. Cheers!
Yes Zack, I agree!!
Great sentiment, I agree 100%!
74 and still singing in the same key! Its amazing he’s still in such great voice.
My 9 year old autistic son loves john fogerty. He plays drums to all his songs. He says he wants to meet him someday.
John is having so much fun playing with his kids.
You can hear it in his voice and see it in his eyes. And the kids, they are so happy to play with their dad an American Legend.
Thank you Fogerty’s.
!
totally agree, fantastic
Yep, really good stuff.
Fogerty got sued for plagiarizing himself and came out the other side with his integrity intact. One of the classiest things to ever happen in music is when the new owners of Fantasy Records gave Fogerty his songs back to him. He’s written some of the best tunes ever, and his family is adorable.
👍
That is correct ! Amazing ....
👍🙏
I remember that.. I believe he actually brought a guitar to the courtroom and played Run Through the Jungle and Old Man Down the Road. Unbelievable that he even had to do that!
AMEN 😉😎😍😘😇😇😇❤👊🎩
These tiny desk home concerts make quarantining alone just a teensy bit more bearable ☺️
It makes us happy that the concerts are resonating! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you NPR🙂
@@nprmusic I guarantee you they resonate a lot in my room! :D
@Steve Park-Smith yeah! And Kelsy really looks like enjoying herself doing this. Keep on ...rockin

I legit teared up hearing John sing one of my favorite CCR songs..."As Long As I Can See the Light". 🤳🏽🤘😥😂
I hope you kids know how important it is to spend time with your parents. They won't be here forever. God bless you.
Hard to believe John is 75 years old and his voice still sounds amazing !! So cool that he has passed his most classic songs onto is kids
And his hair is the same color hard to believe.
@clinttoney what's the big deal being able to continue singing at 75... Dah

Can't even imagine how proud he must be to play the tracks of his life, tracks that he made years ago, with his sons and daughter. Such a lovely and blessing performance !
The truth.
Wonderful indeed..and such a gift to share ..we are all blessed as long as theres a song to forget the bad for a bit..✌😎💨💨💨
yeah I've got a whole house full of kids, and I've made a living playing music most of my life, Not one of my children will even hum a tune,,, John is a fortunate man,,
How Proud...Proud Mary
I don't have a favorite song,i love them all, your family is beautiful,I am 55 and got tears in my eyes because that's how touching and, beautiful your songs are and how time has flew by god, bless you all.
If You Can't Love John Fogerty And His Music, Then You Can't Love Any Body. Long As Can See The Light....!😎
Here, here
Sorry, My eyes teared up a bit . I am about the same age as John and I loved CCR as a kid . We are both getting older . A generation slipping away . Thank you John.
My 18 year old daughter loves him/CCR
We played LODI as we drove through
Lodi, CA and got a kick out of it.
His music is going to live FOREVER
have all of his music.. :) Unique voice.. you know when he's singing in the first 3 notes.
But it's not gone ! THIS is the beauty of music it'll go on forever! And ever and ever!!! My daughter is in collage learning to be a composer . She'll leave her mark ohn the world and I couldn't be prouder!,!!!
sadly yes we are getting older i have out lived a lot of my classmates and a whole bunch of the musical people i grew up on
Paul, you aren't slipping away if you have faith.
John Fogerty is 74 years old. Rolling on the river.
I'm right behind him at 72, great time!
I'm 80 and still loving Green River and all your other hits John.
Love you and your family. God bless you and make sure you all ask Jesus to save you so we can all meet up in Heaven. Have you ever thought of doing a gospel album with the old songs like
I Saw The Light by Hank Williams, Sr. People may not
think of that one as a gospel song but I do.
Thanks for these great little home concerts!
You have a wonderful family. Take care.
@@jerryparrillo8770 not quite 70 yet so i hear you now live about 30 miles from where he grew up
There isn't a single person that has ever picked up a guitar without wishing at least once that they could holler one out like John Fogerty.
He has a nice voice but it is very weak... ain't no hollering here.
@@agnidas5816 Oh please... one of the two or three greatest rock voices who ever lived. The man is 75 years old. How well will YOU sing when you're 75?
Dude, hyperbole is so exhausting. He's fine. Stop putting thoughts in other peoples heads. I always liked the sound of CCR much more than the singer or his songs, personally. He can be a real drag, especially when he starts bad mouthing the guys who made his stuff work for radio.
He's not even close. The same sound all the time, no dynamics, no arc to his interpretations. Go listen to I'm So Tired, and ask yourself if Fogerty could even get through it. You like him, fine. Enjoy him. He's fine for what he is.
He’s playing a baseball bat guitar.......baseball......bat......guitar
When I played in Country bands, Proud Mary was the "rock" song we played. And when I played in rock bands, Proud Mary was the "country song" we played.
That made my day!
Man we grew up on CCR we still love John Fogerty ❤️💙💜☮️🤗😇🙏🏻🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼
It was early 1980’s - I was in a dead in job - I quit - jumped on my motorcycle- convinced my 2- buddies they had to ride with me - we travelled over 23 states and thousands of miles from Portland Or to Florida and back - CCR was on my cassette player- inside my leather jacket - those were some beautiful miles - I’ve worked solid jobs since - self employed- no boss - loving life!! Thank you CCR - I know every ‘mile’ of your songs !
Awesome story brother ... thanks for sharing
A bike, open road and Jammin on CCR -Yep thats an American story played many times over several generations!
Awesome story 👊👍

*John Fogerty's fortunate sons and daughter.*
i´d like have such luck to have a father like these, him is a fortune like musician, the money "goes and back" don´t be jealous
and he must feel very fortunate and proud of those amazing kids too …love it
Cak Redi Rude! Not only is that ignorant of trials&tribulations the mans been through, anyone saying such a thing doenst play music! Doesnt matter how $ in bank account, its still 10hours a day steady practice and many years of hard work, fingers till they bleed...
his kids regularly play with him on the road. the fortune is shared equally all around. the guy has money coming out of his ears. his homes are amazing.
he's just released (hrs ago, [npr may have started a new trend with these at home videos]) some videos on the tube of the kids and him playing ccr songs in the backyard. the dog is there too. i can only imagine the joy he feels having his children share in his love of music, his life. his career.
most parents goals are to set up their kids lives better than their own. he's done that, their sharing it together while he's still around and more by keeping the money in the family (band). he has done himself and his family well. Good on him!
Cak Redi did u see there fire pit? Omg it’s beautiful
This is like the ultimate beauty of music.
Playing your music with your kids and sharing the legacy for the world.
I was and always will remain a John Fogerty fan.
Thank you John for giving us a peek into your family. And for your continuing to provide us with your great music. God Bless you and your family.
Well this is the best thing ever.
They inherited his 70s hair.
And he appears to have well treasured his!
They inhearated their father's talent!
I tried to groom mine like John's
when I was 14 years old back in 1970. Not much up there anymore. 😂
Now that the hair salons and barber shops are closed, a lot of us have 70s hair.
This made me snort lol
THANK YOU THANK YOU JOHN for all the fun music so makes me happy watching you with your kids
Woodstock?!?! These kids must know their dad is one of the coolest parents ever with tons of stories!
He's still Dad. They're Dad-stories. I think kids everywhere feel the same about them no matter how cool the dad is.
Those kids would fit right in in 1969
The family that plays together, stays together !!!! This was GREAT!!!
This man soundtracked my life thanks to my wonderful parents.
The fact that his daughter plays the drums in the band is omg so sweet. What a wonderful dad he must be....wow
John's daughter is so beautiful!
Today is my 59th birthday. I vow to take nothing for granted, appreciate all I have, and feel love for everyone and all things.
Thanks for that insight. 🌈❤️🌸
David Farner Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday and welcome to the 59 club!
Happy Birthday Dave! Sto Lat! (Polish birthday wish - 100 years!!).Keep on chooglin'!!!
I love the baseball bat guitar!
After self quarantine, someone needs to give John Fogerty his own television series, and a Grammy for these stay home performances.
I was lucky to be at Woodstock reunion, standing next to Jimmy Hendrix, rock on
HOW does he still sing LIKE THAT at whatever age he is? John Fogerty is truly a NATURAL MUSICAL WONDER. Everything just comes out PERFECT and EASILY.
I"m a 28 year old who was absolutely raised on CCR. This brings happy little tears to my eyes, thanks NPR!!! Many good family memories with these songs.
Thanks so much for watching!
Eileen Dover me too...my parents lived and breathed CCR..kids at school gave me the stink eye bc i ran around yelling”have you ever seen the rain”...lol ..do i miss those days..you betcha...but the music lives on...from canada with love...❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦
Eileen Dover - great name!
Same! CCR was the soundtrack to my childhood in the car with my parents.
@@OBG2KRudy Thanks! Anita Johnson just didn't seem realistic.
Why this millionth time hearing Proud Mary brought me to tears I have no idea. Thank you for this-
Thanks for watching!
Because it’s great art!
He's still got his voice. And he looks like he's having a lot of fun 😳👍👍
THIS..... is all the back-up band this man needs. Or none. Legendary songwriter.
John Fogerty showing up outta nowhere playing a guitar made from a baseball bat is exactly what my quarantine needed.
😂😂😂
Have you seen Robby Krieger giving guitar lessons on Doors songs?
Who'd've thought we'd be watching such family gathering type concerts a couple of months ago? But it brought out the Fogerties. And a fine family they are. When dad has written a body of work like that, they could play for hours. Good sixties hairstyles as well.
Oh they all got plenty of hair!!!!
So true. Another thought: Who‘d’ve thought 50 years ago that we could be listening to John Fogerty and his family rocking out those classics at a time like this?
The few chords i can play on guitar are all because of this man.
Hi John,
My name is Rich,
I'm 58 I'm yrs.old .
I grew up listening to you...
How time goes by....
Thx for your upbuilding, uplifting spirit..
You're a good man.
Nice family ..
God bless you all..
My father often talked about when he was in Vietnam in '69 or maybe 68 one of his buddies had a CCR album ( don't know if it was an 8 track or what ) and they played it over and over and over. He died last fall. I sure wish he could see your video's now. He would get a kick out of it. Thanks so much for doing these videos. It means a lot for a lot of people. Stay safe John and family. God bless.
Right on
Never forget
Wow, 50 years of listening to John on the radio and my stereo was Heaven, but to see him actually play and sing with his family is a dream come true. Thank you so much.
And his kids grinning like they know how awesome their Dad is.He has been a big part of my life since Woodstock!
So many memories of you and your band while I was in high school!!! Thank You So Much!!
The Voice and the songwriter will never be replaced John Fogerty is a legend!
There is something so utterly genuine and real with these home concerts. Absolutely brilliant.
John, you're as relevant today as you ever were. I love the fact that you're playing with your family. Best wishes to you and your entire family. You put smiles on faces and songs in hearts of millions.
Hotdogs and apple pie got nothing on this legend. Iconic Americana. Love it.
I aspire to be as great as this human being --not just as a famous musician, but as an amazing human being that has all the great aspects of living an entire life.
I always wondered why John's guitar sounded different playing the D chord in Proud Mary as compared to my D chord. He tunes his Les Paul guitar down a full tone and plays as if in Key of E. That's why. Seeing a video made all the difference.
I know. Took me ages to work out what I thought was some kind of "weird" chord he made up. I was tying my fret fingers in knots but my mates and I worked it out.
AHHHHHHHHH! That has been bugging for years!
Wow so that's it! So, all strings are tuned down to match? Learning bass to play with
He's done that forever. I tried to play Fortunate Son for years and I knew the chord shapes, but it never matched up. Finally figured it out, drove me f'ing crazy. With him down a full tone and the other guitars in standard it opens up a lot of cool things.
I have a book of CCR songs and not only does it give the correct chords but also gives the tunings! I got it from Amazon- cheap as chips
A true legend that always stays humble and kind. Thanks for the music John. What family fun!
I can't believe he's still singing in the same key... Super impressive. Wonderful family!
My favorite JF song is “Who'll Stop the Rain”.
Thank you Fogerty family. Terrific entertainment.
We played Down on th e Bayou at my dad's funeral a couple months ago. This really got the river flowing. Awesome video. Thank you for what you do, Tiny Desk.
Thanks for watching!
A friend of mine, Joe, owned an audio repair shop in Berkeley in the 60s. One day he got a call from a musician. His fledging band was about to play their biggest gig, and his amp was the on fritz. Could Joe fixt it?
"Bring it in and I'll take a look," Joe said.
"There's only one problem -- I don't have any money," the musician said.
"If I can fix it, maybe we can work something out," Joe said. He was able to diagnose and repair the amp easily, and he told the unknown guitarist to forget about it.
That was John Fogerty. He and Joe are still in touch today.
*_If that's his family he's the happiest man on the planet !! Way to go God .._* ✝
Fogerty is legend; what a family 👏🏼 👏🏼 good to see y’all doin well.
One of the best ever still changing the world with great songs. CCR for life!
thanks john i grew up with you i found faith in Jesus in h school never looked back hes the only way love you
Ha ha. I wonder if his kids ever get tired of people coming up to them and telling them how much their dad's music means to them, how he was the voice of several generations, and made the music of America... Thank you for coming to Edmonton, Alberta, Mr. Fogerty! I was in the sixth row, and had the most amazing time!
This is the right thing at the right time. Thank you.
Take nothing for granted.
I love the studio/factory.
me pone muy feliz que una leyenda como lo es John Fogerty a esa edad pueda conservar su sagrada voz, tener a su familia que sigue su legado y le brinda todo el amor que merece alguien que le dió tanto a la música.
A family jamboree! Doesn't get any better than that!
When this thing blows over they should tour!
All of the home performances that are getting uploaded by iconic artists are absolutely one of my favorite things right now. No auto-tune, no pro-tools, imperfectly perfect!
One of dad's favorite artist. I could feel his spirit. This is what i needed. Music heals!!
Thank you John for your songs and for sharing your family. Don't stop John!
Hi John, I was working at GM place in Vancouver Canada when you played here on your 64th birthday. You put on one of the best shows that ever played here . I also saw you in 1970 with the Revival. In my time as a concert goer I have seen Led Zeppelin, Jefferson airplane, Who to the Clash, Polic etce and you have always stood out in that company. Thanks John for sharing your music and family with us. You are part of the musical landscape of my life.
Mister John Fogerty does not know how important it has been with the music that you have composed and performed with CCR and on your solo stage... I can die today or survive tomorrow... But I want to have all your songs as the soundtrack of my life... And now that you are with your Family... I understand the important things in life... I just want to thank you for musicalizing the best moments of my life!...
Credence Clearwater Revival.....hooray!!!
This just makes me happy. I have loved John Fogerty's music since I was in Junior High School. I bought a portable cassette deck and a CCR cassette with Suzie Q on it with saved up paper route money. Songs like Fortunate Son and Run Through The Jungle remind me of my increasing worry about the war in Vietnam which ended the year I graduated from High School. I joined the Air Force once I was out of school and my first roommate, after being assigned to the 1st Mob in Wiesbaden West Germany, had been with the unit in Vietnam... he had Cosmos Factory on the stereo when I walked into the room that first day. Centerfield was a huge hit and corresponds to the time in my life when I was going to lots of Seattle Marinier baseball games with a dear friend. Thanks, John Fogerty, for continuing to share your gift. You have some great kids!
Beautiful, wonderful song that talks about sports but could talk about anything or situation. the desire to get involved, and the request to do so to his coach, "put me on the pitch. I'm ready". Each John Fogerty song has its own moral that reflects a great vision of life. Thanks to the Covid 19 epidemic, despite the raging illness, we had one of the most beautiful musical periods of the century. Thanks to the Fogerty family.
He's an awesome singer. Still sound great 50 years down the road.
"Have You Ever Seen The Rain" and "Long As I Can See The Light" are my two favorite CCR songs. Seems like everyone's heard the former, but most people I mention it to haven't heard the latter. Wonderful to hear it here, with his family no less.
I grew up listening to john fogerty and ccr ,got the whole ccr collection on album I loved it then and I'm still listening to mr fogerty today thank you john fogerty for great music ,
Extraordinary. When I think that the first time I heard Proud Mary was all the way back in the late seventies, when I was SIX... and he's still playing it. That's just extraordinary.
50 years ago I listened this songs all day, living a happy life with my parents and brother and sister. Last year, trying to keep safe at home through a global pandemic, Jhon and his family shared his music and joy to my wife and kids. I was 13 years old, and now 63. Thanks for all Fogerty family👍
Centerfield is such a special song to me. It reminds me when I was a minor-league-baseball player and played Centerfield.
CCR music from when I was young 😀👍👍
John Fogerty, Forever Young, Thx for your fantastic Music
Where did all the years go? When I heard CCR I had to dance, always. Thanks for your songs that filled every part of my life.☮️ Peace!
Great music, and so nice children. Happy man!
A true legend. Been listening my whole life to John Fogerty, and will listen the rest of it!!! Your music will last forever. Thank you brother!
While growing up, I played Proud Mary on stage during my college days. Listening to you with your kids made me happy and smily remembering those days. You are the best, John!!!
74 years old and still singing like that ... in the original key too! Freakin' awesome and impressive. Keep on rockin' John Fogerty + Family, you sound great.
Thank you John Fogerty and family for sharing this great performance during this troubled time. Your songs are timeless and have provided comfort and inspiration for several generations. You and your music are a national treasure and are truly appreciated.
crankin out chords on a 'modified' louisville slugger well that just cracks me up.!!
There can't be a single person on the planet who knows who John is that is surprised that all of his kids play guitar 😊
Thank you John Fogerty . Just took 40 years off my life for a few minutes. Those are a few of my favourite CCR songs with lots of memories :)
I remember when I was a young boy my brothers favorite band the CCR way back in 70's..God bless this man and the family,, stay safe and stil rockin in his own yard.
I just wanted to say I really enjoy these concerts you give us from your family and house! I have been a fan for over 50 years John!
i worship John Fogerty. He's a great song writer, singer, and guitar player!! I love his lyrics and the emotions they pour out
Still as good as 50 years ago. Amazing career, by an amazing man.
Thanks Fogertys, one and all. Long ago people entertained themselves by making music at home. It is great to be your guest as you all blend into glorious harmony.
So glad John has stood the test of time and is still here. Much love my brother I grew up to you on dad's truck radio and tape deck. So awesome you taught your family your talent. God love you all
Living legend and human juke box saw him twice live , amazing performer who seems to never age!!
Big thanks to John and family for making a tough time in history a little bit easier to handle and to get some enjoyment out of.
I first discovered CCR when I was 6 years old back in '72. My uncle had Cosmo's Factory and I wore it out. I still have the Greatest Hits CD in my truck and it gets played often.
Thanks for giving us a little relief from the monotony of this lock down both here and on Sirius XM with your family John. You're a cut above.
Oh what a gem to find on my rest day.
Bought a tear John and family thank you.
Integrity has wings...
The Fogerty Family certainly "knows how to give". Thank you for the memories of listening to your music. John, you and I are about the same age. We lived in the Bay Area loved our life there. My you and your family remain healthy and safe.
