  • Westbury, Wilts, 8-Bells, 35-0-14cwt in C#.
Cast by John Taylor & Co in 1921 these bells are simply awesome. They are the 3rd heaviest peal of 8-bells in the World after Sherborne Abbey (Dorset) and Adelaide Cathedral (Australia). Footage in this instance shows rising the 8-bells in peal, followed by the closing leads of "Whittingtons" call-changes and concludes with lowering the whole 8-bells in peal.
    Ringers:
Scott Adams, Colin Avery, Ian Avery, Kate Carew, William Carew, Suzanne Driscoll, Ian Fielding, Elaine Grant, James Grant, Stephen Herniman, Mark Lovell, Luke Mitchell, Jenny Sparling, Matthew Thewsey & Victoria Tucker.

Lovely piece of ringing. These are still the best heavy ring of 8 in the world. So glad I rang a peal in in 2003. Happy times.

I don't know what it is about a set of 8's but they are my favorite to listen to. The permutations just sound so good

These bells have a holy sound, right for playing a Christmas'Eve ringing. Doesn't it?

I am honestly mot i to Devon call changes, not that im a great method ringer etc.
Ido however like the striking , but I had to watch this video as Devon call change ringers are the best at pulling up in peal with out a doubt.
Always good to hear the sustain of bells rung up or rung down in peal

I am Italian and a very strange thing that I've noticed in change ringing sound system is that women can also play the bells. In Italy, only men play.

It's not a strange thing over here. Some of the best and most advanced ringers are women.

@@RingerJake yes i know but here in Italy we haven't got women bellringers so it sounds strange. Obviously I'm for making women ring in Italy, too

@@allecovv1113 Not true, there are women bell ringers in Italy... Not many but there are some...

Magic ringing as always on a beautiful peal of pre war Taylor bells.
Always love the raising and lowering.
Back in the 60s in London we used to try Devon Call changes to add to the diversity of our ringing.
What is the heaviest peal that you have pulled up?
Have you tried Liverpool Cathedral, If so I was wondering how many ringers it took or would take to raise the tenor.

Gutted I couldn't join you for this one - absolutely my favourite 8, and the ringing more than matching expectations, I hope you enjoyed them (and the other towers during the day, quite an itinerary!)

You should go to selby abbey and Beverley minster and do a Devon and call changes at both of them
