lol ringing down the tenor at southwark cath
All great bells but from this video I love Chewton Mendip, and how hypnotic was the Devon call changes. Whilst I'm a method ringer I do find Devon ringing refreshingly different and it is done so well. I love the rais8ng and lowering in peal. For some reason method ringers end lowering with calling 3, miss one and catch.
tenor 10-1-21cwts
16 bells
It’s crazy when you are ringing York minster bells when the tenor is being used how different the bells sound.
treble is john taylor 2nd is mears and stainbank 3rd 4th 5th 6th and tenor 23-3-6cwts are william evans 7th is bilibe
The bells here kind of sound like a mix of the 12 at buckfast abbey and the 8 at St Thomas salisbury
Magnificent bells! A beautifully toned set .....

Why isn’t Wakefield cathedral on here.
cast by diffrent founders
Well, the bell string broke and I can't ring the bell anymore😢😢
All the towers were in Eb
Can not believe I have found this,,, Thankyou ❤️
Fantastic 😍,, Very Rousing.
Please bell ring at other churches across greater Manchester it would be nice to see what Devon change ring sounds like in other towers.
Why not a greater Manchester bell ringing mashup.
Beautiful richly toned bells.
Gorgeous 8.
In Hyde greater Manchester we have a church called St George’s and they have the same exact bells to St George’s in Gravesend, Kent.
these bells sound very to st mary the virgin pilton but there a bit bigger here than they are at pilton
There a lovely tone but Worcester Cathedral it would have been gorgeous if these were the same back 8 bells of Worcester.
I don't know what like churches.
NO!😢😮 0:22
These Devon call changes
Shame most of the changes are cut out so you don’t get to hear them all
Absolutely lovely ring of bells. They sound marvellous. Are they heavy or light?
No 14cwt devon 8s are better than these!!!!!.
are these the bells that were going off every 15 mins, 24 hours a day? no wonder there was a noise complaint.
The individual has since left the village and the entire village petitions in favour of the bells. Damn right they should continue. Just because some grouchy bastard moves in and makes a complaint doesn't mean you uproot your society for that one bastard. Maybe they should've thought before moving in considering it happened every 15 mins they had plenty fair warning. The person in question has since left but the council enquiry continues on.
@@CallumCarmicheal my first comment got taken down about this, but if the person in question didn't like the noise why was they living there in the first place, those bells have been ringing for 150 years and all it took was a single noise complaint from a Karen to stop them from ringing....
@@columnedfox5508 It sounds like the members on the council hated it and wanted an excuse to disrupt the lives of everyone in the town while being able to have a "hands-off" approach with no responsibility for their decision.
Well well worth a visit.
Beautiful sound.
England forever!
trebles john taylor the rest penningtons tenor 11-2-20cwts
Brilliant
Wow I’d love to see them ring at The Washington National Cathedral or The Old Post Office tower as the bells sound similar to Westminster Abbey
tenor 12-3-16cwts
This is my grandmother's church, she rang here. My parent's wedding also occurred here if I recall. I might have been here to a christmas event as well... I do remember seeing the interior when I was around 4 years old or so and some oranges and wine and other things in the christmas period. I rung here on November 23 2019. In the continental fashion however, and since then, this has been the only church where I've ever rung at from then and as of now on March 10 2024 when I'm bringing this comment into existence.
The bell is broken
Beautiful rich sound from those bells
Beautiful bells finely toned.
Superb striking!
Fab video, and beautiful striking, that's definitely a different way of doing call changes we don't do them like that in our tower.
its a method peculiar to the west country. the closer you get to cornwall it seems method ringing becomes rarer and rarer and ringing up in peal becomes more common.
IMPRESSIVE ... That is the Mount Everest of sports, teamwork and arts ... I SALUTE YOU !!!
Finally I start to understand the Midsomer "Barnaby" episode with the (partly lethal) bell-ringing contest ... As a "continental" European, I can only envy you Britains for this fascinating bell-ringing tradition of yours: I wish we had something remotely similar here, e.g. in my Dutch homeland ... 😞
Highweek is a good place to have a bellringing competition
They go nice.
Lots of coordination there, and by golly, that looks like hard work.
