You can just sync up your own copy with the full reaction if you really want, a lot of them will even have a timer on screen to help synchronize.

Luffy can get hurt with sharp objects, like spikes swords or knifes. That why he actually got hurt punching krieg and getting all shot up cause the bullets were sharp stakes. Most of the bullets in that world are round pellets so they're like blunt attacks to him and won't actually peirce through him
On top of this Rubber is thicker and more durable than human skin, so even sharp attack wont penetrate AS deep as they normally would to a regular person. Theres obviously a limit to how helpful this is but it can sometimes be the difference between life and death.

One Piece treats the flintlock bullets to be bludgeoning, so Luffy can just rebound them off of himself. He can be cut and pierced like a normal person, though, which is why the spikes/darts impaled him.

Watching early episodes with you guys is like re watching the anime. im currently 750+ episodes and I just wanna say one thing. The pacing might reduce the interest, but the story just gets better and better and better every single time. New character will arrive with INSANE stories with them. Happy to be in this journey 🔥
Zeff's mention of a spear made of blind determination makes you wonder how far Luffy will go when he really wants something, like being the king of the pirates for example. Part of this whole Don Kreig fight had to do with him not backing down on that when Krieg told him it would never happen. Luffy has a pretty good track record of where he aims that spear of determination, although he does some crazy stuff when it's not so clear to him what to do.

I love that this is actually such a tough fight for Luffy. But when you think about it, it actually makes sense because Don's weapons actually are Luffys weaknesses(i.e. sharp things, poisons, and explosives)
Sharp things hurt Luffy like they do everyone else, that's why Krieg stopped using bullets during the fight and went with spikes instead. Though in general op characters can endure the craziest hits, even the ones considered "regular humans" in op terms, like Usopp and Nami😅
Great to hear your thoughts/analysis at the end! Luffy's grit/determination/faith vs. Don Krieg's belief only being in his weapons and Sanji and Zef's perspective on all of that is definitely a big highlight of the East Blue saga for me!
Oda telling to ask your friend who plays soccer...is also coming from his little experience when he joined his school soccer team. He wanted to pursue that path, inspired by "Captain Tsubasa" another classic sports manga based on football/soccer. The soccer team consists of 10 players, I think that also inspired Oda to write Luffy with a goal to recruit 10 members. LA Luffy says it outloud in Ep 1, talking to the bird. Fun Fact : After watching Shaolin Soccer, back when it released, Oda got the idea of having OnePiece as a Live Action....and Shaolin Soccer was also inspired by Captain Tsubasa, Stephen Chow stated it.
We all celebrated Don Krieg getting One shot in the Live Action....still getting him out instantly dropped the perspective change Sanji had through this fight + not seeing Zoro & Mihawk's duel.

Trust me, with how many characters are in one piece you could expand your crew to 10 and it'd still be hard later one. Theres side characters who we see for like a quarter of an arc that are beloved by one piece fans. Hell even some villains are beloved by one piece fans. Im actually really curious to see if you guys would ever put a villain in the crew.
Just to make sure theres no confusion, the anime was the censored one. The anime one didn't actually happen so his leg wasn't already cut off by the time he got stranded on the rock bc his leg wasn't caught on anything when he went to save Sanji. His leg was fully intact when they first got stranded and he ate his leg at some point throughout.
In D&D terms Luffy is Vulnerable to Piercing and Slashing Damage (knives, swords, arrows and Don Kriegs poited bullets) But is resistant to Bludgeoning (rounded Bullets, Cannon balls, fists ) If one piece had modern bullets luffy would be kinds screwed
Blunt objects or falling off of high places and hitting the ground doesn't hurt Luffy at all as he has all the properties of a rubber after eating the gum gum fruit but at the same time since he is made of rubber sharp and pointy or spiky objects and heat or fire can hurt him.
Luffy’s main weakness, other than the sea of course, is sharp objects or slashing attacks. He can avoid blunt force by stretching but rubber isn’t very good at countering slashing or stabbing attacks
Yall will prolly overpass me quick. I only watch 2 eps a week. But i recommend truthfully...just watch every ep. Filler is only 10 percent of the series. Just plow through. Im avoiding all info on length of the arcs so idk what to expect as far as the whens and how longs. I know the ep count and thats all that matters
Ghin's dialogues are twisted..an undying loyalty..I think its a theme in OnePiece. For a longtime I saw it as his mind got twisted here..lost some of it..died..Sanji killed him with Kindness. But yeah, its a theme.

you are right with that Don Krieg lasted a bit too long. that's why the life action was able to practically cut him completely. it's not a terrible fight, but it serves no purpose in terms of character development or story progression, besides being a foil to Luffy's ideal of a pirate captain, similiar to Kuro and Arlong.
Yeah, they could have trimmed an entire 20 minute episode out of this fight. I would say that the amount of weapons that Krieg deploys is "cartoonish" but...
This fight is one of the motivations for Sanji to join. It's not pointless lol. You literally see it in this reaction. Sanji seeing Luffy (and Zoro earlier) fight changes his mind about chasing and fighting for his dream.
It absolutely has a purpose in terms of character development, seeing Luffy fight like that against Krieg (and Zoro vs Mihawk), and hearing Zeff speech during it, was a big push for Sanji to join him and to chase once again after his dream. I get that time wise they had to cut something, but in the LA Sanji ends up having no real reason to specifically join Luffy, he could have jumped on any other ship.

Luffy's punch through the porcupine cape is one of my favourite punches in the whole story. So epic!

I am all caught up with one piece just gonna say the Crew doesn't grow that fast and it's still a small crew. compared to most pirate crews
