TUBELESS HACK for NON-Tubeless Ready Wheels

  • I run you how I converted this Youth bike without tubeless ready wheels to convert to tubeless! With a hack!
    Tubeless conversion is hard, let alone on a non-tubeless ready tire and rim setup. But will this experiment bring plushness on a hardtail in exchange for the hassle of setting up and maintaining tubeless tires?
    This is a Norco Charger Youth Bike which does not come with tubeless ready rims, not even the tires, so it would require a "ghetto hack". Like how tubeless conversions were done in the early years.

    amazing how as an adult i get to learn from a kid 😂, been looking at tubeless videos for a bike that doesn't have tubeless rim and tires. never seen it done this way and seems like this would be the best way for me to do my setup. thank you for the great video.

    Nice! Trying to get my 20” trek roscoe tubeless but I think my problem is it’s a single wall rim.

      @James Caleb yeah it can be tricky, try gorilla tape and 16” inner tube, it should seal the rim quite nicely. 👌

      @@RidesWithJake thanks but my dad gave up. He’s thinks it’s the rim and the tire not playing nicely. He tried that, and split tube too. Looks like it’ll be tubes with slime for now.

      Understandably so, tubeless especially on non-tubeless ready wheels are high maintenance. I have to pump up the tires atleast once a week, but I think it's a good habit to check tire pressures regularly.
      The big advantage for me was being able to use tire inserts which I'll be posting a how-to soon, it improve the ride and grip massively but being able to run lower pressures.

      @@RidesWithJake well we finally got tubeless. Three layers of tape and the inner tube on the outside to hold it. And we’re good!

       @James Caleb Nice James!
      Mine is still holding up, but I have to top up air almost weekly. I do ride almost every week, it's a bit of a hassle, but I think its a good habit to always check your air pressure.

    Feels like you skipped a step, what is the blue lining that was suddenly put in the tire?

      Yeah tubeless is a PITA a lot more for non tubeless ready tires and rims

      Does it work better if you put tubeless ready tires on the hacked rim?

      I just wrapped my rims in two layers of Gorilla tape, installed valves and even cheap wire bead tires popped / sealed up for 15 minutes or so ..... after adding Stans I have been good to go.
