I have never had an issue with blood pressure and I am in my 60's now. Neither of my parents had issues with blood pressure. Imagine my shock when I go for a routine exam and was told my blood pressure was elevated! I will admit that my life situation right now is extremely stressful and there is little that I can do to change that. My job is highly stressful, my home life is stressful, we are in the middle of a pandemic, and it seems there is no escape. I don't if all this added stress has caused my blood pressure to be elevated or not but if so the news about my blood pressure has added yet another stressful issue for me to worry about. I exercise daily, could eat better, practice Yoga, and I'm even losing some weight again so I was blindsided by my bp numbers. Why is it so hard to live?????

Yes, alcohol can lower blood pressure. But it can also increase. We do not recommend alcohol abuse for either hypertensive or hypotensive patients.
The thing is that alcohol affects the blood vessels. At first, the blood vessels are dilated by alcohol. This can cause a drop in blood pressure in some people. But it was also noticed that people who often drink alcohol had higher blood pressure than those who did not.

The doctor told my brother that his blood pressure increases due to his weight which also causes disruption in his breathing while he sleeps which further raises his blood pressure. So he is now on a diet and he is following some exercises that he found on Healsonate which seems to be very effective.
