War Thunder is a highly detailed vehicle combat game containing over 2000 playable tanks, aircrafts and ships spanning over 100 years of development. Immerse yourself completely in dynamic battles with an unparalleled combination of realism and approachability.
The Khalil family seems to have been stealing a lot of money that was supposed to be going to the Open Hand foundation. It also appears as though The Completionist has been keeping the bits, subs, merch profits etc that were supposed to go to the Open Hand foundation.

Taking people's money for a charity without actually donating the money to a charity is taking money away from people who can't afford to lose it at least.

This one still looks incredibly bad though as Jirard claims he knew the money hadn't gone anywhere for over a year and didn't do anything about it himself.
The worst case is that money may not actually even exist and they pocketed all of it. We don't actually have any proof the money is in the bank account like they claim and at most we just have their personal filing and Jirard claiming he knew it was just sitting in an account. It could just be them pushing the problem away or hiding away till they can find money to replace it.

Especially when its clearly a plan set up to do it and not some strange accident or failure to understand the law. Tax evasion is the most serious of the crimes listed, and the most likely to be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
Negligence, fraud, misrepresenting yourself as helping the less fortunate? That's all well and good as far as crime and punishment goes but not paying your taxes? That's a line you cant cross. Despite not being able to nail Al Capone on the violent criminal charges, they got him for tax evasion because of unclaimed wealth he had and it was enough to put him away for the rest of his life.

@booradley6832 I think people way under estimate how many people get away with tax evasion for decades. As long as the numbers are reported in a way that doesn't stand out noticeablely they could easily get away with it. Al Capone as you said was charged with tax fraud from his illegitimate business. Even if your business is illegal its still by law requires to pay taxes. But he ran that business for 16 years till being charged.
Even Trump is just now being charged with filing reports on the values of his properties inaccurately even though he's been doing so for over 20 years. I mean he was even reporting Trump Tower as being a whole floor higher since it was first established and that was even in the news back then. The government doesn't know everything.

Hi Karl. I am an accountant and i think your approach to this as a non accountant has been very fair. I have audited charities before and we identify materiality very low for charities. That means we do a lot of testing. In cases where cash receipts from doner's are material we will qualify our audit reports. Im very interested in whether the auditors qualified their report. A cash balance of R600k is clearly material. So i would love to know what their Annual Financial Statements (AFS) say. From how shady BPD West is, the changing of the company desription and website info constantly, and how much of a sham/shell company it clearly is, I believe the charity is used as a tax break for his family. They would funnel it out from Open Hand by putting themselves as payroll executives and drain it over time as retirement wages, under the radar when no one paid attention.
BPD West is classified as a "Delaware Company", meaning BPD doesn't pay income tax. This is common for shell companies. BPD's claims of services and inventions are laughable and completely false (cigarette rack holder? Seriously?). They provide no service and no merchandise, so what *Do* they do?

Jirad claims that they changed from private foundation to public charity in 2016, which does change some donation rules, but between 2014 and 2016 as a private foundation they were required to donate a minimum of 5% of the foundation's value every year in a rolling average throughout each year. Governmental documents make my eyes bleed, but my folks put together a private foundation from my grandparents wealth after they passed and that's been one of my folks discussions every year, making sure they have kept above that minimum. And after that, public charities usually have disbursement minimums but I am unaware of what they are.

You may enjoy the art and have different opinions on the artist. Just think of the amount of musicians out there that people listen to that they either do not know much about or even care to know. Also the cases that despite knowing, they still enjoy the music.
It is also understandable that with "influencers" (I hate that word) people feel betrayal and other such feelings more than with music artists.
That separation of art and artist doesn't excuse the questions of legality or other such things. This charity should be audited.

This whole situation has one undeniable fact, spoken by Jirard himself, and that's that he knew the money hadn't been donated in 2022, and after a whole year it hadn't yet been, and he STILL ran indie land while claiming the money had gone to specific cherry picked charities. That was in the very first video.
This new stuff with the golf tournament, and their books not balancing makes this even more worse. And even if you're waiting to here Jirards "side," what excuse could there possibly even be for the above? Non profits, and other charity entities are all a huge business for those who run them. Even when ran "legitimately" they pocket a load of money each year. With CEOs earning up to $250,000 and executive directors up to $100,000. That is not the kind of money you expect people to earn in this type of organization, but it is. You better bet your gullible butts that most people who get into charities are in it for the salary and the job is simple - you ask people for money and use a disease or a group of people who are suffering and you have the best promotional ads money can buy.

Stereotypes exist for a reason and humans are creatures of habit, it's not hard to read between the lines if you're familiar with what you're seeing. I picked up on some unsavory vibes from Jirard years ago, just some noted oddities and a peculiar seeming lack of genuineness, and that never changed, I'm really not surprised that he has skeletons in the closet, I'm not surprised his issues are ongoing, and further it doesn't surprise me that it's a family affair. I wouldn't be surprised if a decent portion of the missing money funded his channel's purchases, especially the big ticket ones, and I wouldn't be surprised if the family wanted a bag, especially after Jirard later found any amount of success as a content creator, then unsurprisingly the missing money ended up being hidden by that very channel's own charity drive; it all seems cyclical yet it's a downhill spiral.
And unsurprisingly Jirard panics when called out and doesn't have the balls to face his own issues or the situation at hand. Let's hope he gets prison without bail, let's watch him complete jail, being bubba's cellmate and all. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if Jirard was already looking for a way out, while his content could remain infinite, a lot of the sources of what he can do have been drying up, and I wouldn't be surprised if his golden parachute was going to be selling off his Nintendo eShop collection, among other big ticket items, charity fraud and theft aside. The panic displayed in the call is indicative of being caught before he had his exit, afraid of the loss that's to come, especially with asset seizure as he probably has no liquid assets. This case could become very interesting to watch, depending on how much missing money there actually is, especially with the scope of the situation, though I won't be surprised if the government takes their sweet time to actually do something.

I just wanted to comment that I've worked over 20 years in and with a number of different non-profits, 501c3, and every single organization was adamantly concerned with money - where did it come from, where did it go, and every doller had been meticulously accounted for. They were all proud and responsible and dedicated to their causes. One of those organizations had local political enemies that got them audited and inspected every few years, but no fault was ever found.
I just wanted to add some anecdotal evidence that there are a lot of good organizations and charities out there who do the right thing, and that this, pray tell, is the exception.

I've worked for a number of local non-profits over the years as a graphic designer and maybe 20% have been honest. One had the executive director finding a loophole to give herself a loan of 80k to use as a downpayment on a new house and when reporters broke the news, the board hired her daughter as a transition while a new person was brought in, who was fired and the original ED was rehired after the attention blew over. Had another charity hire their friends at outrageous prices, like paying a friend 2k a month to just host their website and then another 300 to update a single page. There's definitely some great charities out there; I'm working with one now but so many of them look good to the public while the backend is using every loophole they can and rely on volunteers to accomplish what they get donations for.

2:10 The other problem is that money sitting in a bank account burns away due to inflation. Just consider the fact that in 2022 alone, inflation stood at around 8%, which means that around 50,000 dollars simply disappeared in real terms. Through negligence and incompetence, or maybe even malice, they've squandered probably 100k in real value over the years. That should be a crime. People thought nearly100% of their money was going to a charity, but now, even if all of the money was donated, only 80% of the value of that original money could be donated, with the other 20% just lost to the ether. That doesn't include administration fees. That doesn't include the opportunity cost of what that money could have done over the past years. That money could have been working to help find cures or fund research. That money could have just sat in an index fund and made 10% a year. So, considering the opportunity cost, this is even more tragic.
