With the Disney College Program returning very soon i thought this would be a great video to teach people about things on the Disney College Program! These are some of the top things I wish I knew going into the program and can be very useful to new dcp participants! I loved every second of my Disney College program so i know you all will love it as well!

I wish the dcp existed when I was in college...ya, I'm that old! I loved listening to you talking about the ability to make magic for guests. It was very obvious how much you loved the dcp, made me a little emotional. I remember seeing you in some of JoJo and Kyle's videos during dcp. You're right, make lots of friends and memories. Nice video. Nice of you to "pay it forward" to the next groups. I was a CP in '95 at EPCOT parking. Back then, I only found out about the CP via Usenet message board fan sites on Disney. I'm having a serious case of "youth is wasted on the young" - I wish I could back in time to relive/redo my CP experience! I was, in many ways, too young to really do it right - but it helped me grow up in many ways. I had wanted to be an Imagineer since I was kid, but unfortunately the grind of the CP really wore off the "pixie dust" for me and I didn't pursue it. In hindsight, I wish I pursued becoming an Imagineer via any and every channel possible.

I recently got accepted in to DCP and I am super excited. I'm a little nervous, but it feels like I am finally going home after so long. Thank you for making this video, though I have a question. How do you extend your program?
I’m late to this video but I did DCP Fall 2018 and agreed with everything you said. I was nodding at every point you made like, “Yup.”
I know I am probably the oldest person on here, but you were spot on. I did the Program in 2003 and amongst everything I have done in my life, it was one of the best experiences of my life......

I got accepted last week on Thursday for the Disney College program, i am excited but nervous at the same time not knowing what to expect but watching this helps me to be prepared

I did the College Program back in 98 and again in 2001. Back then it was just Vista Way which I’m told doesn’t exist anymore. I lived in the Commons when it was new.
I don’t think Disney University exists anymore, but my big advice is to put DCP on your education part of your resume and not work experience
Accepted a few weeks ago. Glad to see a positive video about the program to make me less nervous after all the negativity online about it.

This video was so informative, thank you! When you went to Disneyland on your CP, how long did you go for and how were you and your friends able to take time off? I heard it’s super hard to get time off when on the DCP.
So glad you enjoyed it!! If you plan a good amount in advance it isn’t hard to get off! I went for 4 days, 2 days in the parks and 2 in LA! I got 3 of the 4 days approved off and then just had someone take my shift that wasn’t approved! We planned about a month to a month and a half in advance, then I went and told my leadership about my trip and they approved the days they could

Thank you so much! Yes they do train you on how to be a lifeguard once you arrive! I was just at animal kingdom lodge
I'm doing the program next spring and am thinking about living off-site. Do you think this is a bad idea? i'm worried about missing the events and the social aspect. But what do you think? Having your own space vs living in flamingo?
I just got accepted this morning. Big choice to make and super nervous with what to decide. But i would start August 16th and i feel like it would be such an amazing opportunity

I'm way too old to do DCP, but I absolutely would have! I saw a video recently with a girl who self termed. She wasn't happy with her role and wasn't a Disney super fan! No wonder!

Congratulations!!! I was scared too at first but once you get there and make friends/starting/spending every day in the parks you’ll love it I promise!

Payed the fee and now I’m going in January!!
I just got accepted today and I genuinely don't know whether or not I should do it. I want housing, but I have a cat and I have actual furniture from the housing I have been in prior to the acceptance. I also have another job that is primary source of income for my car mainly, which brings to about 800 a month for insurance and payments and all. I know I can opt out of housing but I know how important it is to be on campus and I know about having another job as long as it's on your days off from Disney. I don't know what to do.
Hi! Thank you for the video. I'm going to be part of the Spring 22 and I am so excited🤩 I do have one question. Once you are assigned the role, is it for the entire time that you are in the DCP or is there role rotation?
So glad you enjoyed it! You have the same role throughout your program! Now some people do get force transferred because of business needs but that doesn’t happen often

Hi!! I’m a college sophomore and just applied the program. Just really stressed if I’m going to be able to go back to school after the program is completed. It seems that most people do it once they graduate. Do you think I will be fine or would you recommend me waiting?
Hey! My best advice is do it whenever you can fit it in with your school schedule! If you can do it now do it now if you can wait a semester or another then wait. Majority of people do it while there in school they just take a semester or two off! Talk to your counselor cause they can really help with letting you know the best time to take off of school or even just take 1-2 classes a semester

Sometimes you can be working 12 hour / 6 day shifts.
Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea are the parks that are a not a part of the Free Cast entrance Benefit since its ran by the Oriental Land Company.
I won't be able to bring my car, so I'll be relying on the bus system. Is this a bad way to experience the program?

There is free employee parking and you get free parking when you go to the parks as well

Do you think that it is possible to work over 40 hours a week? I have been accepted for the spring program, but I’m worried that I will not be able to do it because I have a car payment.
It is possible some weeks especially during busy times of the year like holidays but the majority of the time you might not get exactly 40
This is true if you free yourself of the money racket before get accepted you better off ..word of advice you will suddenly have more “friends that have never been in contact you ever” We would say take of all your living expenses 6 months ahead cause you will only make minimum enjoy your time as a cast member. 🎞

Minimum of 32 hours. Some work many more. Depends on role & business needs.

The Facebook group is for potential participants and people who have been accepted! People make posts introducing themselves and you can find people in there with common interests and become friends with them

What about uber and Lyft? Would it be affordable? What are some problems you had with roommates? Do you often find things you want in the parks and hoard 😂
You could definitely Uber or Lyft but it would start get to expensive over time unless you shared rides with other co workers!
We didn’t really have problems unless someone came home late and was being super loud when someone else had to be up early!

Re service dog: make sure you get the Accommodations paperwork filled out with your doctor’s paperwork immediately.

Are you able to pick your roommates? Is housing split by gender?
You used to be able to but tbh I’m not sure what the rules are now and yes it is split by gender
You can sign up for gender neutral housing. Also there are CP’s of all ages now.
I'm very happy I didn't do this. Back when I was thinking about it when I saw how much they would be taking out of my paycheck I immediately saw what a racket it was.
I’ve been a lifeguard for 6 years and I’m so scared that I’m going to get lifeguard as my role. In the end I’m going to be happy just getting into the DCP but still 😂
