    Hey Eddie do you think I could achieve this with a phase 90 and an OC3? I’m running a boosted muff for dirt.

      This video was just a test for myself. I don’t consider it to be very close. The Dist II circuit is pretty unique and I don’t think there are any other pedals that really sound like it. If you want to really nail the Cherub Rock solo sound, follow along with this video:

      The chain in that video is exactly what I used in my Cherub Rock cover.

      Nerdy is always good. I have a video planned that will go over everything I use on my Pumpkin's cover board.
      Thanks for watching!

    I have the dream box by made by mike (big muff and dist 2 on one box) and I honestly think the made by mike one sounds more like the album than the op amp reissue (I have both) the op amp one I think sounds thicker or more top end maybe ?

      @EddieClark  Před 3 lety

      The reissues are pretty good but based on what I've seen from Made by Mike, it wouldn't surprise me if his was better. I'm planning on picking up his OpAmp Muff with the mids knob.

      There wasn’t really a lineup to get it I believe. It was a few years ago though. I would get the mids knob instead of the tone bypass, so you can cut through the mix more. It’s very subtle, nothing a tube screamer

      @@EddieClark definitely get the mids knob, it’s totally worth it. Very subtle too. Not like a tube screamer mid hump

    • @EddieClark

      Absolutely. The Pumpkins used those as well. Great pedal

    It was Impossible to reproduce a studio effect like that with pedals. You're close but it's missing that stereo tape-flange effect and the feedback. Thankfully we now have something that does the trick.
    I think if you got the strymon Deco pedal you'd have it locked in. It's the secret sauce. You'll agree.

    • @EddieClark
      @EddieClark  Před 2 lety +1

      Absolutely! I think you're quoting/referencing my videos. I cover how to get that sound here including the use of the Deco.

      @@EddieClark that's fantastic, no, I hadn't seen your other videos, first time but i love solving pedal riddles, I thought I'd exhausted this rabbit hole, you're the first video I've seen do it right, loved seeing that Deco pop up the screen. Its the holy grail. I'll be watching! Thanks!

    I havent tried the Made by Mike, but I bought the Dreamsicle by Blakemore Effects. I ended up scoring an original Op-Amp Big Muff, and got to do a comparsion...it was spot on. The reissue Op-Amp was a bit more harsh than the others. I was told Billy was using Greenbacks as speakers in his Marshall, is this not true? That would have a small effect on the sound. Besides that, I think you got as close as humanly possible without Butch Vig

    • @EddieClark
      @EddieClark  Před 3 lety

      It's hard to go wrong with any Muff 🤣
      Billy ran through a standard 80's 4x12 which use G12T-75. Comparing them back to back in the room, it's easy to hear that it's not the greenback (although they do sound amazing)
