    About us:
    In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists - but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.
    After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew - and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.

    If you reserve far enough in advance, you can get bog-standard class tickets on the HEX for £5.50 online. Ticket is good all day, so no worrying about exact time your flight gets in. If you cannot get the cheap £5 ticket, then the HEX is going to be a total rip off for tourists. If you didn't plan in advance, just take the Elizabeth Line which is only slightly slower than HEX and has nice new purple trains. Plus, if you use an Oyster card/ contactless on Elizabeth line, it counts towards your daily TfL cap, so if you plan on taking the tube or overground later in the day, it might be a factor.
    Basically, HEX is a rip off unless you plan far in advance (in which case it is a steal).

    Thanks for the pointers on the Heathrow Express. I just checked the price for our trip in July of next year and it's 11.00 pounds return. (55 pounds for 5 adults and 2 children) What a deal!

    I've been to London twice using the Heathrow Express. It is very comfortable. I can recommend various hotels on Sussex Gardens, that is on walking distance from Paddington Station. Also lots of shops in the neighbourhood, restaurants and ATM. Also very near to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Great place to spend a few days.

    Great information. I'm going to London in a couple of weeks. I'd pretty much decided to do either the Elizabeth Line or Heathrow Express, but the express sounds more convenient. Unfortunately, I'll have to take a taxi from Paddington station because the station close to my hotel is steps only, and I have a suitcase. I pack light, but it's still too much to be hauling up and down a lot of stairs.

    What a great video. Educational and highly informative. Frugal May have been a better adjective than “cheap”. Just saying. Lol. It’s definitely the right information for Travel addicts and something most people do not know. 😊

    Hello, I have a question if I buy the 37-pound ticket I can go and come back at what time because when I'm going to pay it it says this and confuses me Flexible ticket in Express class
    No time restrictions for travel
    Departure within 5 days
    Return any day within a month
    Via Heathrow Express. I loved your video, it's very informative.

    My husband and I will be landing in Heathrow next week for the first time, this video is extremely helpful, thanks! Question about your luggage, I noted that you have two carry on (one in each hand), now, does British Airway allow the 22" or the 20" carry on ? They look almost the same.

    Heathrow to Piccadilly- it is around one hour regardless either from Heathrow express + Taxi or tube directly from airport to Piccadilly. I don’t find any reason to take Heathrow express. In the beginning of the video I thought it will take you around or near Piccadilly but taxi (time and fare) killed the deal.

    If going from Piccadilly Circus to Heathrow why not stay on the Tube to Heathrow or vice versa? Is it worth paying more and transferring from the tube to Heathrow Express to save 13 minutes?

  • @rickbear7249
    @rickbear7249 Před 8 měsíci

    Careful if you have luggage (suitcases) and you're planning to use the Tube (London Underground) as you'll often need to negotiate several escalators!

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks Před 4 měsíci

      If you're taking the Piccadilly line, I think the best option is to go to Green Park or King's Cross St Pancras because they have step free lift access and you can change for Jubilee/Victoria lines at Green Park and for the Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern and Victoria lines at King's Cross St Pancras (typically the lift is a bit tucked away and not on the same part of the platform as the main routes via the escalators). You want to ideally look for stations with a wheelchair symbol

      @@TravelAddictsLife the good part we found was that you can exit at major stations and get on another line. The best easiest city to get around I’ve ever found, still loved watching you guys on tv again though👍

    • @quintuscrinis8032
      @quintuscrinis8032 Před 6 měsíci

      Cheaper to use the Piccadilly and that gets you to Hammersmith or Acton both of which are great areas in their own right and reasonably cheap for both hotels and travel into the centre.

  • @quintuscrinis8032
    @quintuscrinis8032 Před 6 měsíci

    Heathrow Exopress is so expensive though and only goes to Paddington. Better option for me is getting the tube (Piccadilly line) to Acton or Hammersmith. Relatively cheap hotels around there and reasonable connections into the centre of the city as well.

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks Před 4 měsíci

      If you book in advance it can be quite cheap and there is also the Elizabeth line which also goes across central London and is only a little bit slower than the HX and is a mid priced choice

    • @quintuscrinis8032
      @quintuscrinis8032 Před 4 měsíci

      @grassytramtracks the Piccadilly is still better connected, and it you get the free bus to Hatton Cross it can be as little as £3.8 into the city centre or less to Acton and Hammersmith which are great for cheaper hotels just out of the centre.

  • @northbankgooner6126
    @northbankgooner6126 Před 8 měsíci +1

    For anyone who uses the Heathrow Express look around you and wonder why it's so empty. It's a complete rip off, and the Heathrow Express only gets you to the fringes of Central London. For 90% cheaper it is better to take the tube, yeah it takes twice as long but London can be unnecessarily expensive. I am coming home from Madrid next Wednesday, and will be taking the Picadilly Line to my home in North London from Heathrow Terminal 5, will take 70 minutes but only cost £5.60. There's absolutely no point in making the journey 5 times as expensive by adding the Heathrow Express and still have a fair distance to travel to my place.

    Does anyone know how to get from heathrow airport to greenwich station?

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks Před 4 měsíci

      Cheaper is to take the Piccadilly line to Green Park, the Jubilee line to Canary Wharf and then the DLR to Greenwich or, alternatively (which if faster but costs a bit more) take the Elizabeth line to Bond Street, Jubilee line to Canary Wharf and the DLR to Greenwich. Both routes are fully step free with lift access so you don't need to worry about having to haul bags up and down stairs and escalators

    Heathrow express only go far as Paddington elizabeth line go all way east london that why I say it need go beyond airport join south west train track one branch go Windsor Eaton other branch go Weybridge quick than South west trains half hour each branch 15 from central London because different prices elizabeth line put same price as south west trains when join the track we don't want Heathrow express lose money what do think about that ?

  • @mirar721
    @mirar721 Před 7 měsíci +1

    I know you guys are probably paid for this, but for everyone reading these comments: Elizabeth Line is much cheaper and takes you to the actual city centre instead of ending its journey at Paddington Station. There is no point with HEX anymore.
