  • Airport transportation is very often something that people stress about when arriving in, or leaving, a big city. There are popular choices like taxi or Uber, but in London you can also just take a train from Heathrow into the heart the West End. The London Underground or Tube is a really easy way to save some time and money and get right close to your hotel. #london #heathrow #travel

If your travelling around London on your stay always use the same card/phone to pay for all tube and bus travel. This will get you the minimum price.

Just to give clarity to where stations are so it makes life easier for anyone travelling via public transport.
Heathrow Terminal 2, picadilly line is much closer to Terminal 2 than Elizabeth Line. Elizabeth Line is around 3 minutes further.
Heathrow Terminal 3, Elizabeth Line is much closer to Terminal 3 and 3 mins further from Picadilly line.
Terminal 4 and 5 have their own stations so are directly inside the terminals and have direct access to Arrivals and check in areas.
Accessibility. Heathrow 2 and 3 Station on Picadilly line is wheelchair accessible but you need to be at certain areas of the platform to board a train due to the station being open in 1977. They do have lifts (elevators).
Terminal 4 and T5b is more up to date and is accessible for wheelchairs.
All Heathrow express/Elizabeth Line stations at Heathrow are fully accessible for wheelchairs.

Nice video. Very helpful for a first-time visitor to London. I've always taken the Paddington Express, even though it is more expensive my total holiday cost is upwards of $10k as I'm coming from Australia & it's almost $6k just for flights. 25 pounds is a very minor cost in comparison & it's never as crowded as the tube. It also has free wifi which is great for when you arrive & want to message everybody on the other side of the world that you made it OK. I do a Taxi from Paddington only because I'm 70 & am over trying to lug bags up & down stairs.

This is so true!!! I didn't realize I'd have to take my bags up and down stairs! I wrongly assumed there would be elevators. He's right, I would've been better off taking the tube directly to my stop even though it would've taken longer.

Excellent video. The newer stations have escalators and elevators and some older stations are being renovated to be more accessible. Those who travel light have an advantage. Wish I was one of those people. 😂

Very helpful video! We took the Heathrow express last year. One benefit though is if u have large bags (for a long cruise) the Express is easier. The regular tube trains are too crowded with large bags and there’s absolutely no way I could have carried those up those stairs. We also traveled with our parents and had to help them with their bags. The contactless payment is awesome! We still had to deal with tickets last year. That makes everything so much easier!!!! What awesome news.

The train system in the UK is really good. I travelled from Seaford to Bank Quay - across the country- and, yes, I had to swap trains but it was much easier than my trip from Heathrow to Manchester via a bus. The bus I was supposed to be on was fully booked so I had to catch a different one and swap in the middle of who-knows-where for a 2 hour wait in the middle of the night. I was terrified and the stewardess on the bus told me to get off at the bus depot because that’s where my next bus would start from. There was a waiting room and it was ok.
Unfortunately I hadn’t been able to contact my aunt to tell her of the changes. I cried all night and was half an hour late into Manchester airport. I couldn’t see my aunt so I went to the information desk and asked. As soon as the lady heard my accent and the word aunt, she pointed to a bank of phone booths. My aunt was just about ringing my folks in Australia to tell them she’d lost me.
If I had to repeat that trip again, I’d either fly or take the train…and we have mobile phones now too.

All 3 rail lines can be disrupted due to points failures, signal failures, engineering work, strikes and overhead lune failures,
so allow lots of time and check if the line is running. The Heathrow Express can be good during peak times for avouding crouds.

I've been to London many times for work so never had to endure travelling to the city center (until tomorrow as a tourist). This video is excellent as the trains are confusing from a non UK person point of view. But what was really smart about this video which I struggled with was where to buy tickets. Using my bank card is an EPIC tip and no-one or not one website mentioned it. Cudos. Plus not taking the Express, another great tip. Liked and subscribed.

The Heathrow Express shouldn't be totally discounted. When I arrive, I will take the Elizabeth Line into London, which works if your hotel is near there. Which works for me sometimes since I am only staying a couple of days before moving on. Going back to Heathrow, the Heathrow Express works if you have an early flight ( be careful, The Elizabeth Line's early trains at Paddington leave from a different platform than the later ones ) since they take only 15 or so minutes, PLUS if you book EARLY online the Heathrow Express is less expensive. 15 pounds instead of 25. Anyway, safe travels everyone. London is a fantastic city! Not taking a taxi is great advice, unless you have endless amount of time and money.

We have taken the Heathrow Express in the past to Paddington Station. But, on our last trip last October we took the new Elizabeth line instead. It was super easy to use, and costs less money. And it didn’t take much longer than the pricier Heathrow Express.

Thanks Morgan. I was not sure if the Elizabeth Line had begun service west past Paddington. But obviously it has. We always used the Heathrow Express and just hopped on the Circle Line tube at Paddington as that took us to our hotel. We also occasionally used the Piccadilly line too. Not sure how close the Elizabeth line will get us to our hotel and will check that out for our next trip to London. Thanks again for all your great videos!

Going off on a tangent (as I often do) let me share a piece of information that I only recently learned regarding the famous statue in Piccadilly Circus.
The statue is not that of Eros the god of erotic love as it is almost always called, it's actually a statue of his sibling Anteros, the god of selfless love.
In my opinion, arranging to meet at the statue of Anteros just doesn't have the same ring to it so I shall continue to call him Eros.
