    I Installed mine last summer. I love it. I extended the factory wiper arm by drilling that rivet out and moving it about half inch. Then my 15 in wiper fit with just a small piece touching the center plasticon side and it reaches all way to bottom.

      Thanks James - really appreciate the positive feedback and thanks for watching! Just so that you are aware, I would buy the motor covers at the dealership and make sure they give you BOTH sides. Lots of folks try to order them online and only get one side. Also, Ford refers to them as seals. Good luck and I hope the install goes smoothly!

      Hey, appreciate the kind words and hopefully, you subscribed and liked the video (that really helps!). So I tied the main power wire and ground into my fuse block and the 'park' wire was wired directly to the ignition power on the factory 3 rung block. Fortunately, no relay was needed for the wiper. Be sure to use insulated covers for the connectors on the switch in your dash. If you get into some serious rain - you don't want that failing (don't ask me how I know) :). Or just use a rear motor from a few different types of cars. Nissan cube, ford freestyle, ford expedition. Im building the only 90s model RHD Ford Ranger in the US and a mono wiper conversion is the only way i can go without more fab work. Since im doing everything on a stock LHD firewall i figure why do extra work. Those 3 vehicles use a rear wiper motor that all have a large sweep. The escape doesn't have a 180 sweep its more like 140 of sweep so skip amazon and go to ur local pick and pull salvage yard. U can put money in Bezo pocket or a local company. The motors i listed have a 160+ sweep. The nissan cube and ford freestyle are very small so u could almost install it without much fab work.

    • @timeckenrode2710
      @timeckenrode2710 Před 2 lety +1

      The motor at a salvage yard was $10. That beats $50 any day when u can literally get everything minus the switch at the yard and it pays a local worker pay instead of amazon.

    • @UTVBoondocker
      @UTVBoondocker  Před 13 dny

      Hi Coillin! The best way would be to use pulse bar connectors (amzn.to/3WBFh7V). You wire up the park wire to the red, the power to the blue (ignition) and then finish with the ground (black). The newer Generals make it easy with that pulse bar design. Hope that helps out and thanks for watching!

    The rubber washer that u put on the i side of the windshield (closest to wiper motor) did u cut that in half or just put the whole thing in the inside? Normally on and escape that acts as a grommet so its both inside and out side the windshield
    And do u know off hand what size/dimensions the o-ring is that u used

    • @UTVBoondocker
      @UTVBoondocker  Před 7 dny

      I put it on the inside to keep water from coming in but I suppose it doesn't matter so long as it's there. As for the o-ring, I bought an o-ring box from Harbor freight and just use that when I need one. Hope that helps you and thanks for watching!

    Great video. Really appreciate all the links. I am just finishing installing mine on my Teryx. One question had is about the wiper arm. Mine doesnt want to go onto the knurled portion far enough engage the lock. Assuming the locknis supposed to catch underneath the knirled part so it cant fall off. What did you do?

    • @UTVBoondocker
      @UTVBoondocker  Před 2 lety

      Good question. When I installed the wiper arm, I lifted the arm up at a slight angle from the knurled portion and wiggled it on slowly until seated. Sometimes the Amazon parts can be a little different and there may be a sliding retaining clip on the base of the arm that holds it on to the shaft. You can email me with pics and I'll do my best to take a look (utvboondocker@gmail.com). Thanks for watching and best of luck!

  • @haln8dad347
    @haln8dad347 Před rokem

    Since there is no male threaded extension which would go through the wiper arm, how does the wiper arm stay attached to the motor shaft? Normally there is a nut which is used to hold the arm on the shaft.

    • @UTVBoondocker
      @UTVBoondocker  Před rokem +1

      Great question and thanks for watching! So the manual wiper that I had before used a nut to secure the arm to the shaft but this setup is just pressed on (by hand). Some wiper arms have a little clip that slides open to install and then slides shut to secure. The one that I used is just pressed on and the spring tension that holds the wiper to the windshield holds it in place with no issues. I hope that helps you!

    • @UTVBoondocker
      @UTVBoondocker  Před 7 měsíci

      Great question and thanks for watching! I honestly think someone just tried it out and it works. One nice thing with this wiper motor is that it has a full cover to hides the motor - most others are just mounted in a place that is hidden so that may be the main reason this works so well. It wouldn't be too difficult to fabricate a cover from another motor. I would suggest buying a new motor instead of pulling one from a salvage yard - it would be a shame to have it fail prematurely after being out in the elements in the yard. Hope that helps you out!

    • @UTVBoondocker
      @UTVBoondocker  Před 10 měsíci

      I have not but you can check on other sizes of arms that connect the same as the arm (Spline and Clip). The dorman website lists other arms and their length. I'm not sure how short the arm is but you could find one that may be a bit longer. The one in the description is 18.75" long. If you look at the 42631 model - it's 3" longer. See more at their site and then pick it up from amazon. Just pay attention to the attachment type and wiper end type. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! www.dormanproducts.com/

      Can you confirm the length of your wiper arm you used and have linked when you have time? Dorman lists 18.75" but when I posted the question on Amazon I was told it was 11" which would match my oem Ford Escape arm. Trying to figure out which is correct?@@UTVBoondocker

The 18.75" measurement must be talking about the box it comes in NOT the product itself. Even the dorman site lists it at 18.75" which is very misleading. With that, I think it's a situation where you could reach out to dorman directly and ask them for one that is longer and you could explain the measurement issue. This is the downside of custom stuff but it's interesting what you can uncover. Thanks for the dialogue - let me know if I can help out more!

    • @shane3978

      Just an fyi for others that might consider this upgrade. I've found that the Dorman 42605 wiper arm fits the Ford Escape motor. It is roughly 2.25" longer than the Escape wiper arm. The arm is also offset and not straight like the Escape arm. That may be a plus or a minus depending on one's setup.

      Correct. It's covered at 6 minutes 20 seconds in the video. The white wire needs constant power as it's the 'park' feature to return the wiper arm to the rest position. This is handy if you turn off your machine while in mid sweep - it will put the arm back where it belongs. You do not HAVE to do it this way but it is how I wired it. If you choose to wire it with power when the machine on - then the arm will remain where it is after the machine is off. I hope that cleared it up a bit and thanks for watching!
