As a woman in the Philly suburbs, I can say abortion was #1 for many people I spoke to, and we don't talk to polls or just ignore them. This wasn't very surprising.
Credit to all those who came out....Seeing us rally at a time like this is something else! As a millennial, seeing youth play a role in an election for once is incredibly rewarding. Proud of this younger generation especially!

As someone who turned 40 this year and still feels young at heart (especially when it comes to progressive issues), I am very proud of all the young people who turned out to vote for their future.
Never, ever, EVER let a bunch of old people tell you that you don't matter. You are far more powerful than you can imagine, and that's what old people clinging on to power know and fear the most. Take it from someone who's just joined the 'old' category and has been fighting them this entire time.

Bless you! I feel like we are constantly battling for basic human rights from people twice our age at any given time.
I feel like I’m living out a marathon of South Park in this country. Children leading the adults to water, it’s infuriating as a young person. @@seymourbutts4654- No, they're not. Republicans have created a bunch of fake polling firms like Trafalgar. The genuine firms are accurate, but you have to know which ones they are. It's not easy, certainly not as easy as saying, "They're just guesses." That's a massive oversimplification.
@@laserflexr6321 First of all, they base polls on who voted in previous elections. There have been about a million Covid deaths, and the deaths were much higher in heavily Republican areas than in heavily Democratic ones. That led to an oversampling of Republicans. Second, most polls only contact people who have voted in at least one prior generally election. That meant they didn't pick up on the huge youth voter turnout. Third, the polls didn't measure how much independent women, and to a lesser degree men, were going to vote for Democrats because of abortion rights. Fourth, in the runup to the election, the information space was flooded with polls from farc right little known pollsters. In other words, they flooded the zone with tons of low quality polls that deliberately oversampled Republicans, in order to drive the narrative of a "red wave" and skew the polling average to the right. .

The "red wave" turned out to be ketchup thrown on the wall at Karma-Lardo. Nothing more.
important point here that shouldn't be overlooked, and that is that the repubs took the house likely with the assist of gerrymandering.
Many issues that matter in this election, the voters sided with the Democrats. Issues like inflation and economy, they would have voted with Republican, except that, Republican did not offer any solution of how to fix inflation and economy. Nothing for us to vote for.
What about polling and the media and their role in this dependable skew in the public conversation every election especially 2016.

As of now, I think Democrats will make it to 50 in the Senate without having to wait for the Georgia runoff. I hope they can defy all odds and keep the House too, but even if they don’t, it might be fun to watch the Republican infighting over who gets to be Speaker.
