  • I take a ride on Arriva North East 4710 with a nicer sounding zf than usual (similar to 4720s zf). Upon hearing the rumour these are to be withdrawn in the upcoming future, I'm making the most of there presence. Hated these from day one, but now I've come round to liking them for there uniqueness and unusual characteristics. ©️SB #cummins #temsa #arriva

Wait, they're getting scrapped? Might ask my dad if we can preserve one then. Will probably do 4719 if I hope. I'm only going to hope that these still last 4-5 more years in service... 😢

Apparently meant to be going from the end of the year onwards. I doubt theyll be cheap to preserve but one preserved would be interesting

@@teesbuses I also talked with my dad about it, and he said that although he'd love to, they are VERY expensive to maintain (he worked at temsa turkey before) and parts take months to arrive from adana, so I think we can only hope that someone can manage to save one...

@@MiracTheEpic unless spare parts were recovered from other temsas, yes they are very expensive maintenance-wise. As much as we'd all like to see at least one preserved it most likely won't happen unfortunately. I'm sure examples abroad will get preserved

Why are they thinking of withdrawing these at some point in the future when they're the only Temsas in the entire country 🤔

    • @Stevoj3026

That'll be the reason, a few of them have spend vast amounts of times off the road due to having to import parts from Europe with long delivery times etc. Also they're none standard within the fleet

They cost an absolute fortune for parts compared to a typical wright equivalent. Bearing in mind these are also awful on hills and quite slow at times, I can see arrivas logic despite how much of a shame it is

4715 was on the x4 and it could hardly clam the hills

@omsi21323 When they first arrived they were in performance mode and absolutely flee up hills but of course performance comes at the cost of fuel economy so they quickly got put into economy mode...

@Stevoj3026 Typical Arriva; shame on them for putting such a beast on eco mode. Also Temsas fault for not having a factory in the UK tbh...
