      Alexander Georgiev it wasn’t the blue clay that was slippery, it was because Madrid had drainage problems in 2012, so if they’d done it in 2011 or 2013, it would’ve been fine.

      5 Roland Garros FINALS and so many master 1000 finals, people just forget about that, they just hear Nadal's name.

    • @NLLeFa
      @NLLeFa Před 5 lety +2

      Surely less underrated than Nadal on hard or grass. People always call Rafa king of clay while in reality, he has reached more hard court + grass court GS finals (14-11) than on clay. He has over 400 + wins on hard and over 400 on clay which makes him the only player to has done that on two surfaces.

    • @NLLeFa
      @NLLeFa Před 5 lety +2

      @Ethan istanforCBE It's not strange, but it's absurd to call him clay courter. He's been one of the most consistent players on hard courts in history. Only Djokovic and Federer might be superior. If it wasn't for Nole, Nadal would've had a lot more to offer on hard. Even with him, Rafa still won a lot and has beaten both of them on hard GS finals. You can't say the same for them against him in RG.

    Just because Federer didn't have that much success on clay, it is wrong to say that he is weak on clay...
    Look at his record on clay : 5 roland garros finals
    20 masters finals 13 won...
    And almost 5 or 6th player in current lot to win most matches on clay...
    Many players dream this to happen in their life.
    There are many players in light now...
    Fognini, nadal, thiem but still madrid open is all about Federer return on clay...
    Thing is he has nothing to lose, he always rise to such occasion.
    And don't forget Djoker nole...
    On his day, unbeatable.
    I hope roger and rafa meets on clay once again
    In recent time, federer dominating rafa. It would be interesting to see rafa vs federer but has to come over by beating thiem who is on different level

    It's easy to undermine Federer's capabilities on clay considering he stood little chance against Nadal, but it's worth noting that Nadal was the only one who could consistently beat him on clay during that time.

  • @nawshercse98

    FO 06 07 11. He was in supreme form in clay. Still he lost even after domination the whole tournament. He could not hold his nerve at very last moment. He lost the battle mentally. Against Nadal and ND, he is getting too nervous and start making errors and it cost him the match.

      The blue clay was developed purely for the 2012 edition of the Mutua Madrid open. It was the brainchild of Ion Tiriac who would do practically anything for increasing the profit margins, e.g. pretty girls as ball kids and the blue clay. The blue clay actually looks fantastic and was tested and was supposed to be the same as the normal clay, only more cooler. The problem was that big name players e.g. Nadal and Djokovic both lost early and practically blamed the blue clay for the loss. I think they're sore losers as roger won that year. The claims were that Blue clay made the ball twice as clear to the eye (agreed) but the side notion is that blue was the colour of Mutua, the brand sponsoring the Mutua Madrid open soooooooooooo, take your pick. I think it looked awesome, though.
