That never gets old. I love the Nadal, Djokovic, and now the Alcaraz and others.. but at this tournament, no one ever played tennis this way, seemingly effortlessly, perfectly elegant and incredible construction of the points. It was more like a magic show than tennis
This AO final was the most magical moment in all my years of watching tennis. Just unbelievable to see him beating Nadal in the final. I never gave him any chance. His play was absolutely unreal
MUFC At least tennis doesn’t have fools like you who go around to videos of other sports just to promote tennis. Like, even if you’re going to do that, at least get the number of countries correct. The most logically and geographically correct answer is that there are 196 countries in the world.
@MUFC like we care. Lol. Soccer/football is just f*cking boring. Dudes running around the field for 90 minutes just to end up as a tie or worse the score could be 0 - 0, hahaha. Time well spent I guess? 😂 Also, soccer players must have the strongest hands because just one slight touch or a tap and another player is rolling in the field already 😂, what a f*cking joke! Just for a chance of that sweet sweet free kick or penalty kick to finally end the misery and score a goal to win by 1. Hahaha. But it's the most famous sport though right? So you have that. 😆
Federer's backhand against Nadal was pure talent. He just straight up refused to be pushed back. If Nadal's shot was high with heavy topspin he just stepped ahead and played through the line, if it was deep he just played half volleys. It takes insane amount of guts, talent to execute those backhands with such consistency.
Impeccable timing and guts. It's one thing to take amateur's shots on the rise on the backhand. To do it consistently against nadal's topspin forehand? Pure talent and deserving of the title.
I personally think this meant more to him than the French. Was lucky enough to be there. The roar after some of those points ill never forget. The fans in awe of what they were seeing.
They may win more grand slams but this man’s variety of shots, balletic movement around the court, natural ability and that serve will always make him the best as far as I’m concerned.
Is not the best, is the player that you like the most, the best is the one with more achivements, in this case Novak. Despite of that and as a novak fan i have to say the most beautiful game was the Roger's one
@@juanfe274 to me It's not like that, Novak is obviously the most successful player in history. But it doesn't only take to be a great tennis player to win, it mostly takes mentality, strength of character. Novak is the strongest in history in terms of mental solidity, but I have to agree that he is not the very best at the game of tennis. Federer was weaker mentally, and 5-10% below Novak's extreme athleticism, but he was the most skilled at the game of tennis, most skilled hands, greatest variety of shots, tactical creativity, and that movement on the court that was a dream to watch. Sure, he won less than Novak, and he badly suffered the technical match-up with Novak, but you never heard commentators and fans go crazy in a Novak match like they did in Federer matches, he was entertaining and mesmerizing to watch. And lastly, you can ask any coach in any tennis academy in the world, the benchmark for teaching the technique of any shot in tennis is Federer, not Nadal, not Djokovic. To some people what really matters is just whether the player wins or not, to other people being amazed watching the game is what matters. I am in the second group, and found several players from the past and present to be more amazing to watch than Djokovic, starting with Sampras, McEnroe, Agassi, and others, not just Federer.
He seemed to be playing every type of player there is, and Nadal, at this AO. Hardcore baseline, hardcore serve and volley. His volley at the net was out of this world. So beautiful to watch.
Got to see him live at Indian Wells Championship 2017. He looked much thinner in person. What astounded me the most was the sixth sense anticipation of both players. At least got a checkoff on the bucket list. Greatest All Time. Switch to a lager racket earlier in career and he finishes with 26 to 27 slam titles.
YEARS ago some people were doubting whether Federer will Win another Major considering how he was playing and how old he was...YEARS later here he is Winning the Australian Open and doing it by going 5 setters also...The Undicputed G.O.A.T....Almost 38 years old in 2019 and still Winning Tournies and in the "Semi Finals" of the French Open...Incredible
Fantastic compilation - thank you for posting. Every shot was worth showing more than once, so this could have been twice as long! Fed has been so good for so long, and I believe he was as good as ever at this tournament, at 35!
man watching all these points together just shows you what a herculean task it is to win a grand slam. props to fed (and the big3) for being able to dominate in these grueling matches for so long. RESPECT!
@MUFC tennis is big in all countries! Tennis >soccer!! Federer,Nadal , Djokovic play all over the world!! Messi ,ronaldo play all their season in Europe!!
It's a hard enough task to change a shot later in a stellar career, but to transform that backhand from vulnerable to magnificent is miraculous. Only Roger could pull it off. The most complete of players. Roger the Maestro ❤🎉🎉🎉
@@systemafunk bro he just commited to hitting through it, with smart high percentages too!, heavy penetrating cross court backhands that opened up the whole court for him
His backhand is better than Wawrinka, the variety he has on this shot is unparallel. Stan has power and percentage, but Roger has variety, flick, passing shots etc.
Это просто шоу. Смотришь на Надаля как он бегает по площадке, пытается изо всех сил, а великий маестро словно дережер, с легкостью раскидывает его по углах, как будто в руках у него не ракетка а волшебная палочка.
No one like Federer. His tennis is very special, individual, it's like magic harmony of sport, elegance, force, art... . His shots, movements are so exquisite, delicios. I bag you pardon for my English but I hope you understand my idea. Hi is unique & incomparable independently of actual rating. For me he is Simply the Best forever like sings my lovely Tina Turner.
Fed continued picking on his old foe that year, beating him brutally in the sunshine double. After so many years, he was now clearly the favorite when these two played amd it was awesome to behold.
the stab volley roger makes at 27:55 is a very rare sight to see fed completely behind the point in regards to footwork at that moment, he's still moving after he hits the ball and then slides to stop (like nishikori or Djoker)
I believe Djokovic is the undisputed goat after winning the US Open. However, watching Federer is so much more mesmerizing. I prefer Roger's style, grace, power, and creativity.
Agreed...Kinda Difficult to Judge Fed Compared to Djokovic Because of The Age Gap...Especially in Tennis Your Age Matters a Lot...Fed is Like 6 Years Older Than Djoko
There is nothing like Fed ball striking. The serve, the returns, the groundies, the volleys, the movement. It’s in a class of its own and those who want to analyse performance by numbers are just showing they need a ruler to measure. The level beyond is not measured in these dimensions.
My favourite tournament, not because of quality (there was some) but given he had to fight through some stiff opponents with little match play and of course the come back against Rafa.
I've never noticed rubin before, but he looked very impressive vs federer. I've never seen a guy look so fast while NOT getting to a ball haha. but I saw him routinely breaking 200kph on his first serve while only being 5'9" (I even saw a 210kph in the highlights, which astounded me for his height) and his forehand looks like he gets good consistent pace and depth. his backhand looks stable, though not a weapon in any way. its a shame I haven't seen more of this guy.
melzer played some of the shots nicely near to baseline or where federer stood so it was difficult for him to make it to forehand/backhand shots and even make it wasdifficult to convert those..this is what i was saying earlier
I love when people say feds forehand got so much worse when he got older, its like what do you expect from the guy!? He was hitting magnificent winners with tons of pace all season that year some of the best shots of his career and people are like, "feds forehand so much worse now blah blah"
Good highlights but why didn’t they include “THAT” rally. If you’re a Federer fan-a TENNIS fan, you know. He may not have ended his career as the “greatest” on paper, but his game and style was certainly the most efficient and elegant in history. Maybe, just maybe that’s enough-I’m sure it is for him….

Roger's art of playing tennis is pure beauty.
It was Federer’s monstrous back hand that earned him this Australian open.
Both played great, Roger looked better than usual on that last game.

When you a get a video of over half an hour of some magical points of a player in a grand slam it's understandable that he is something else.
