Thats why he is the GOAT - he makes the hardest shots look so easy and he does them with grace. No other player has that finesse. His tennis looks effortless. Its so good to watch.
Roger saw (and took) shots that nobody else sees. His squash experience made him unique in this regard. The GOAT imo.

Greatest player ever. Numbers are a part of the debate but the 'X' factor...the ability to do stuff that you cannot really practice for, all the while making it look effortless, natural and astonishingly easy, is what differentiates him.
He’s so relaxed, he just straightens his hair after hitting these shots, because this was the norm for him.

Pre 2011 it is well known that Novak was ill with undiagnosed celiac disease, which affected his play. A disease that creates extreme fatigue and nerve damage. It affects co-ordination and balance. That said, incredibly he was winning major tournaments. In 2010, 7 years into his career he was diagnosed with it and he had it treated, and adjusted his diet etc. Proof of the disease affecting him before, was what happened when he adjusted to managing the disease in 2011. Many greats, like Sampras and Becker have said, 2011: Novak's rise to the top is the greatest season in tennis history. He won 3 slams and 5 Masters and he ended the year with an impressive 10-1 record against Nadal and Federer.
Since 2011 (Roger was 29 and 6 years younger than Novak is now), when his disease was treated he wins H2H v Roger 22-10 (Up until Roger retired). Novak's H2H v Roger from 2011 to Roger reaching 35 (Novak's age now) is 18-9 in Novak's favour.
The age argument holds no weight, as Novak and Rafa have proved in the last few years.

Novak is the only player who could beat Rafa twice at the French Open. Djokovic has won 18 titles on clay courts, including two French Open titles and 11 Masters titles. He is the only player to defeat Nadal in all three clay court Masters events, which he first achieved in the finals of Madrid and Rome in 2011 and in Monte Carlo in 2013. He has been in 6 French Open finals. In a different era, I believe he would have had at least 4 French Open titles.
His clay court record is where he moves ahead of Roger, as they are so closely matched on the other 2 surfaces.
Take a look at probably the weakest slam in history, which Federer won: The 2003 Wimbledon Championships. Roger beat the unseeded Mark Philippoussis in the final. That's laughable. Also, Hewitt was the defending champion, but was defeated in the first round by Ivo Karlović. As a result, Hewitt became one of only two defending Wimbledon men's singles champions to lose in the first round of their defence. Sampras didn't play and Agassi was knocked out in the 4th round.
Novak has the greatest amount of wins v top 10 players (and wins to games played ratio). Novak has faced top 10 players, more than any other player. Hardly lucky. Therefore, Roger and Rafa played weaker opponents overall. You can't argue with the facts.
Roger's early career rivals: Ferrero and Davydenko - Lmfao. Davydenko never made a final of a slam, let alone win any and was never ranked 1. Ferrero: Only 2 slam finals and 1 win (French Open, which is Federer's weakest Slam). Ferrero hit number 1 in 2003, with that record, shows how poor and weak that era was. Weaker than now. Agassi was 11 years older than Roger and was winding down as Roger started winning slams. James Blake, world number 4 and Roger's rival in 2006, wouldn't make the top 30 now. He never made it past a slam quarter final and only had 10 low ranking career titles. Talk about the weakest era. Only when Rafa and Novak (celiac condition under control from 2011) were on the tour, that Roger had real competition.

I watch Federer videos just as much I do for Jordan. They are in the same class. I watched tennis religiously while he was playing. Unfortunately, I don't watch much tennis anymore. I keep hearing the GOAT argument. For me its Roger because the way he played the game. Effortless and magician on the court. The way he handles media and the public spotlight and the aura he has with other players. We all wanted to play like him and we were glued to our screens watching his matches. Rafa is a beast and is in the same class on and off the court. Joker statistically is the best now. Can't argue with that. However, do I want to watch his matches. No. He is in the same class as well (the best 3 in the modern era). The wall of tennis where it keeps coming back.

For someone being this talented, usually they don’t ever accomplish half of what he accomplished. He played off instant and this is part of why Federer is so loved! He is unique and there is no replication of him. Alcaraz has the same type of instant!

No one else does. That was a Delpo forehand coming at 100 mph? The reaction time is a split-second. Roger at the net as well. Once he approaches, he nearly always finishes the job, because he’s always ready. His ability to just stick his racket out and finish it is unreal.

It makes me think of what you can see with cars. Some are juste amazingly efficient, fast and impressive and they're objectively the best performance wise (Djokovic), others are fast, brutal and almost intimadating and others are hardly less fast but subtle, versatile and so rich to drive (Federer)
Actually, the GOAT debate is pointless, in tennis as in other sports because it compares what should not. Training, equipment, event numbers, longevity are different. To stay on tennis, Borg has 11 GS and retired at 26 ! And by this time, few players played AO every year. Surfaces were also quite different. I wish Fed was the one but he is obviously not considering titles and so on and he's snot the greatest of his own era from this point of view. But he's probably the most skilled player ever and watching at all those improvisations, out of the blue shots was a delight. Dimitrov is also a delight to see, he's even more pure in my opinion...but less inventive. We miss you Fed.

It was titled something like Dr. Federer’s lesson Part x, maybe ten or so parts/videos by some Jueri Tennis II or something?! Nowhere to be found anymore! That’s an awful thing! 😢

I've always loved the the sheer artistry of his playing style, which is why I always preferred him over Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray.

Federer hasn't improved/changed his game as much as Djokovic or Nadal. All his career his main issue is his unforced errors. That's the reason he lost to them many times whereas you don't see many unforced errors from Djokovic
