- This week on Khaane Mein Kya Hai, I am visiting an eatery that is older than the 1st railway track of India not just that it is older than the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and probably the oldest known restaurant of Mumbai. Pancham Puriwala has been serving hot delicious North Indian style puri bhaji for 170 years now and they are to die for. I am told the recipe of their signature dishes hasn't changed... well there is only one way to find out. Great to see Kunal ji on the screen again, times are different. He's on our phone and laptop screens now, not on the TV but his love is still the same for food. I remember watching him on TV as a child and wondering how lucky he is! Haha! Great to see him again!

Long long back THERE WAS HEAVY RAIN AND BIG FLOOD. TRAINS closed. Pancham Puri distributed free puri and BOILED batata to all stranded people at v.t station

Sir I relive memories on Mumbai vegetarian food through your videos.i miss Bombay food as I shifted to Mathura after living in Bombay for more than 40 years in 2017.You should cover Udipi Shri Krishna once near CBD Belapur railway station.That is the place I used to live and frequently eat.I miss Bombay vegetarian food so much that I am in tears.Thanks for covering such content.

Visited this place in Apr'23.. it's legacy of 175 years is truly amazing and it's unfortunate that having been closer to Mumbai for 30+ years I am tasting it for the first time.. must visit place.. and I will certainly come here more often
१९६३ में जब हम पहेली बार बम्बई आये, तब हमारी माताजी Bombay Hospital में भरती थी. हम सिर्फ ९ साल के थे! हर रोज दोपहर का खाना पंचम पुरिवाले का और रात का खाना भगत ताराचंद (झवेरी बाज़ार). बचपन से पंचम से प्यार हो गया है, आज भी जब दक्षिण बम्बई आता हूँ तब पंचम में अवश्य भोजन करता हूँ!! सुद्ध और सात्विक साथ किफायती भोजन याने पंचम पूरी वाले!!

Enjoyed watching a true gourmand gobbling up food. Seems like Mr. KV has a voracious appetite but I would be cautious consuming such huge amount of grease for fear of future heart problems. I had visited this place couple of times. Everytime I have had Amazing experience. Being North Indian I like poori aaloo bajhi, dahi , boondi raita which are so delicious here in pancham poori wala. On the top of it AAMRAS is amazing.....

I used eat here during 1990s. It had 2 types of Puris , Bhoola, Aloo, Chile, Paneer Mutter bhaji, Rice, Kadhi Pakoda . That’s it, The owner family would change every year, They would almost run it like a responsibility like we do our Utsavs in our village turn by turn.
I am 55 years old now whenever in early childhood we would come to Bombay it was my dad's best lunch house 🙏🙏❤️❤️

Pancham puri wala is very famous in Mumbai and I will definitely visit this place, he have variety of puri.satwik khana kisey pasand nahi hai. Rassa aloo aur puri ka alag hi mazaa hai. You are my favourite Kunal ji because you are foody and me too.

Very economical but super crowded which is understandable.
Whenever, I want to eat at Pancham Puriwala, best time is to reach by 12.30.
After 1pm, one can find people queuing outside the eatery.

It was 1972. Generally we don't eat puri bhaji. Some reasons made to eating there. It was special. They never peel off the skin's of the vegetables including potatoes. Cleaning is so beautiful that entire areas cleaned. This restaurant is in bazar gate street, now perin nariman st. Modi street is the adjacent street where I used to stay. Food is heavenly. Now in North Mumbai. Missing due to local train's stopped.

Great video Kunal Bhai. I love non veg food too just like you, and hence this was a good departure from the normal. The only aspect on which I have a personal disagreement is the pakoras in a good kadhi. People love them, and I am unable to understand why one can stand those soggy balls. A good kadhi should have no pakoras, my humble submission🙏

Looks like the Restaurant has improved and has a wider range now! Started eating here in the eighties when the Menu was much more basic. Was cheap , incredibly tasty, and filling! One problem was getting the oil off your fingers afterwards with that small cube of Lifebuoy Soap! Good to see the youngest generation taking things forward!
