The band was founded in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, drummer Joey Jordison and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Jordison, Gray, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root.

Nothing will ever be as heavy as "Iowa". Corey has said in interviews that the making of Iowa nearly killed him. I don't think those guys could go through that again.

What you say at 7:14 and onwards, I absolutely agree. Sure, bands can remain stagnant once they find that one formula that works for them but were is the creativity in that? If you are an artist you should allow different things to influence your style. It's what Linkin Park did and I loved them for it. It's what the German rapper Casper does and not one Album sounds the same. Same also for Slipknot. They all have that core thing that is THEM but they allow styles outside of the formula they know to influence them and it keeps/kept them sounding fresh and interesting. True artists.
As a lifelong Slipknot fan, this was BEAUTIFULLY put. Encapsulated the band perfectly!

My neck has been sore since Thursday from head banging every time I listen to this song...I’ve had it on repeat since it was put on Spotify.
These guys have ALWAYS known how to reinvent the wheel and make it sound amazing in a different way each time they put out a new record. The beginning of the song with the falsetto actually reminds me of "You can't always get what you want" by the Rolling Stones but in a different context...maybe THAT'S where the "mad scientists got the idea from"...who knows...what i can say is that i literally cannot wait for the album at this point...by far one of my favorite bands of all time, and this song along with their first single "We are not your kind" have me wanting more!! ALL HAIL THE KNOT!!!

I'm a huge Slipknot fan Paul is the reason i play bass. I hear a lot of people say they are going back to the Iowa sound but I only hear that in the verse and then it sounds like Stone Sour in the chorus.

I was 6 years old when I first heard wait and bleed when it released and ever since I fell in love. 20 years later Slipknot is still my one. (I’m 26 now)
Slipknot was my go too in high school in 01 with Iowa and my favorite song is My Plague, ahh the good ole days right how i also was that emo/goth kid and always wearing my headphones jamming to KoRn, Killswitch Engage, Kittie, Stone Sour and Slipknot mainly with alittle Papa Roach and Mudvayne too. This song everytime i hear it even being 34 i have to headbang so props to you for holding it together cause i sure cant 🔥👍

I'm a girly girl and I've loved Slipknot since I was a kid when I first hear Slipknot in 1999. I loved highschool & had tons of friends. I was one of the only girls I knew that was into metal, heavy, black metal. They definitely sound more "pop" nowadays but I love them 100% either way. Maggot for life.
