This song is about Chris fen he just left slipknot last year slipknot has ICC’s in a few states Chris fen said they where not paying him so he left slipknot
@@fazejelly9231 Chris Fehn pronounced F-a-n-e and you dont know what the real reason he left is cuz no one frm Slipknot said that shit. You heard the media trying to put 2 and 2 together and then report what they think is going on. Say THAT while ur tryin to sound like an expert on their business dude!
I love it. This isn't her thing, but she did it anyways and had great input. I hope if I ever have kids that I have this type of relationship with them.
He said nickelback is on the bottom.. but yet like the majority of people who dont like nickelback, they've only heard either photograph or Rockstar🙄😂
@@fazejelly9231 there's no part of this song that was about Chris. It's about his battle with depression and his disenfranchisement with modern religion. And I don't know what an ICC is either. You might mean LLC's. If you want people to believe you know anything about the band, you may want to learn how to spell their names properly also. And another thing... Fehn left THIS year.. About 3 months ago.

It also seems this song was bout not believing in religion and more bout believing yourself to do anything

I'm at 5:30. I appreciate you guys talking about how you understand the lyrics from an emotional perspective. Not many people do that with their reactions. Slipknot's music and Corey Taylor's books literally saved my life.
They definitely helped me with their music as well. Had some family issues growing up with a absent father and I was always angry and pissed off. Iowa in particular helped me and changed my life. Ever since I heard Corey say he didn’t have relationship with his father I was connected even more to him and the band. Always awesome seeing a comment from someone about how it changed them positively.
I also feel the same they helped me through a lot also on a personal note RIP to Paul gray n Shawn's beloved daughter
No matter what you say but Corey is one of the greatest singers if our time. His range is unbelievable. Listen to his Stone Sour stuff.
Mike Kenders completely agree. His range is underrated

Lucrian lol yeah that song is heavier than any song on Vol 3 or AHIG and heavier than than most songs on the Gray chapter, maybe all of them. Idk tho Custer, Skeptic and AOV are pretty heavy
"All out Life" is harder than this but Slipknot never reached IOWA levels again. That album eats you alive.

The song is about dealing with depression.
J F yes, certainly some very poignant lyrics about depression.
No its not
Not to put a damper on what you said just the song isn't about dealing with depression, it's about like not believeing in a hell or some sort of hell or believing in a sort of god ' killed the Saint in me' like he's been good but he's doesnt feel he needs to be good so he's unsainted

They have new masks for each album and tour. That's what makes Slipknot so great. You never know what their masks are going to look like until you see them. My theory is that the older woman in the video is supposed to be his grandmother who passed away not too long ago.

It’s about believing in yourself and not conforming to others worldly ideas like religion. "We are not your kind"
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever science that be
For my unconquerable personality.
In the fell clutch of naturalism
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of theism
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.

Specific neurons and neurotransmitters, such as norepinephrine, trigger a defensive state when we feel
that our thoughts have to be protected from the influence of others. If we are then confronted with differences in opinion, the chemicals that are released in
the brain are the same ones that try to ensure our
survival in dangerous situations. In this defensive
state, the more primitive part of the brain interferes
with rational thinking and the limbic system can
knock out most of our working memory, physically
causing narrowmindedness.
Myopic, cannot see straight!!!
2
We see this in the
politics of fear, in the strategy of poker players, or
simply when someone is stubborn in a discussion. No
matter how valuable an idea is, the brain has trouble
processing it when it is in such a state.
3
On a neural level, it reacts as if we're being
threatened, even if this threat comes from harmless
opinions or facts that we may otherwise find helpful
and could rationally agree with.
Dystopic, one sin too late!!!
4
But when we express ourselves and our views are
appreciated, these "defense chemicals" decrease in
the brain and dopamine neurotransmission activates
the reward neurons, making us feel empowered and
increasing our self-esteem. Our beliefs have a
profound impact on our body chemistry, this is why
placebos are so effective.

The old lady is the religions leader trying to lure Corey into her religion. If you notice when she hugs him she has a sinister smile when Corey can't see her. She thinks she has him, but he knows, it's easier to lure bees with honey than it is with vinegar. Lure is bait and that is manipulation. Corey burns his own statue at the end though because he believes nothing should worshiped, not even himself.
Trever Houghton interesting perspective! Thanks for sharing!
An important thing to note in the video; there's a member in the video with a burn victim mask who's recently replaced Chris Fehn, the guy who had the mask with the long nose. The part in the bridge where Corey sings 'You killed the saint in me, How dare you martyr me' is overlapped on the new guy's head. I believe it was intentional, as there's some bad blood between Chris and the band right now. Even the mask has a similarity to Chris' mask, with the riveted zipper over the mouth.
I like how you go over lyrics. Great job on the video keep it up
This song always hits hard , I feel every single lyric.
