- Taking a close look at the Paul Reed Smith DGT 15 amp head, I discuss the interesting features and talk about whether I find them useful. Of course I provide sound demos with different guitars, showing how the amp responds to a few different pedals. I give my views about how one might best use the. controls and switches, and touch on who this amp might be for.
Guitars include a custom S style with Lindy Fralin pickups, a PRS S2 with Seymour Duncan pickups, and a 150th Anniversary Epiphone Sheraton with the stock Gibson mini-humbuckers.

Great sound for 15 amp. Thanks for this video Leonard.
And thanks so much for following my channel!
Thanks so much for the great demo, Leonard! I don't play out (only in my studio), so I much prefer the simplicity of amps like this. I like it a lot...however, I suspect much of the great tones are from your sweet, articulate massaging of the strings! Probably wouldn't sound as good if I played it!! Anyway, it's a bit pricey for an old retiree! Love your playing!! 😎
Thanks so much. I really appreciate you tuning in to my channel. All the best.
I’ve ordered the amp and cab. Love your playing sir and will learn from your soulful style!
Thank you so much. Hope you love it.
It sounds good because you're not using a V30! Thanks for the demo that let's us hear the amp with a different speaker.
I’m interested to hear it with the Neo-Creamback as well. A lot of different speakers would be worth trying. Thanks so much for watching.
Very nice.
Thank you my friend.
Nice review. I watched Dave YT's video demoing the amp and while he's a talented player, I much prefer your video over his. You covered stuff he did not even mention. You did some nice playing as well.
Thanks so much. I try to present information I'd want to know and hopefully others will benefit.
Have a Lindy Frailin strat. Vintage split Frailens. Tremolo sounds very Troweresqe on that strat!
It is a really fine tremolo. Thanks for watching.
Too Sweet! Did you mention the price?
Anyhoo, loved the outro jam! Sooo smoooth!! Good stuff💥👍
1200
Thanks. Yes, I put the price on the screen when I mentioned it wasn’t cheap. $1199.
Played one recently and I liked it,the manager at Guitar center said its great with single coils but not humbuckers, confused because David uses humbucker guitars.
Don’t be confused, the GC manager was giving his opinion based on his taste. Take it with the proverbial grain of salt. I tested it with full sized humbuckers, mini-humbuckers, and single coils and liked it with all of them.
@@leonardgriffieblues5845 thanks for advice, agree I thought it sounded great
My experience with the guys at GC- They don’t know much!
A nice thorough review! With headphones to listen through, I'm still preferring the tones you get from your Tone Master Deluxe Reverb with the Celestion Neo G12 Creamback over the tones of this amp, even though it does have a nice sound to it. Are you planning to keep this PRS amp head?
Thanks. Probably not. If I start keeping everything I like my channel will grind to a halt. I think I will try it live though. More on that later.
@@leonardgriffieblues5845 Looking forward to seeing that!
A lot of sound for the price. Still cheaper than those collectible vintage amps.
True. Thanks so much for watching.
Sounds great but I'm still stuck on Fender and Marshall.
As are many. Thanks so much for watching.
and some of us would rather play an Orange amp.
@@westernrider100 Oh yeah, I totally get it man, 100%. I have an Orange myself. It's just not my jam, but it's still a killer sounding amp, not to mention awesome quality
The new Bad Cat amps are nice but expensive.
Yes to both. Thanks for watching.
I hope you review the Bad Cat amps, they sound great to me.
A bit Sterile? The amp not the playing!
I’m not really hearing sterile. That said, I never had the master more than about halfway up and I suspect this amp will really come alive just turning the master all the way up as David Grissom does. With the relatively low gain preamp it’s really designed to work the power section harder. I’m interested to do that in a live setting just to see. Thanks so much for watching.
